A tag has been placed on File:DoctorSteel.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 05:05, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Doctor Steel, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Doctor Steel (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:24, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Identity[edit]

I do have to say that the anonymous poster made a good case, and IMHO is probably right. There are copyright and trademark documents, the two artists have identical tastes in music, and placing a photo of each side-by-side, there are similarities in appearance.

However, this is Wikipedia, and speculation isn't encyclopedic. So until I see in print in a reliable publication, "Dr. Steel, who's real name is (redacted for privacy reasons) ..", it's staying as is. :) --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 23:09, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy Section[edit]

I'm not entirely sure that the bit about the Thinking Christian blog really belongs in the article, and have thus far shied away from including it. For several reasons: (1) It was, as you mentioned, largely ignored, and therefore not significant (bordering on trivial), (2) it might give people the impression that Dr. Steel is anti-Christian, perhaps fostering hostility between Christians and Dr. Steel's fanbase (or giving Christians the idea that they are not welcome as fans, both untrue), and (3) the writer of the blog himself admitted that the article was largely tongue-in-cheek. To me, adding that in detracts from the article rather than polishing it.
I also don't think a section of "negative backlash towards the Dr. Steel persona" is a good idea period, as I think we should be presenting the Doctor in a positive light, not a negative one. And if we did, then we would of necessity have to also include the very thing that got this article put on protected status in the first place, which of course for legal reasons can't be done.
I understand you want to polish the article and make it better - and I agree, I do too - but I don't think that is going in the right direction. Just my humble opinion, for what it's worth. --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 05:33, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
