Owling[edit]

There seems to be some dispute between yourself and another editor about the Owling article. Rather than repeatedly re-insert your edits in breach of the three revert rule, may I suggest that you try going to the Administrators noticeboard and seek resolution there? By the way, threatening to use multiple IPs in breach of wp:sock will not get you anywhere. danno 00:48, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

July 2011[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 12 hours for your disruption caused by edit warring by violation of the three-revert rule at Owling. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

In accordance with the three edit rule, yes, I do deserve to be blocked. However, as I tried to bring a salubrious resolution to the revision issue with PTJoshua though small messages in the notes for why a revision was made. However, PTJoshua remained obstinate and only called my revision "stupid" and "goofy". I made it clear that I was not trying to delete any of his previous contributions, but only trying to account for the fact that there has been a recent cultural trend, per Google trends in both owling and planking, that I feel are culturally relevant memes that need defining, exposition, and clarification. Sure teh trend/meme is goofy, but I would reason that it is relevant to Wikipedia's purpose to encompass the broadest amount of data, given that the data can be supported by legitimate sources (which the owling meme has indeed insofar as I can direct readers to the instances of the trend itself and provide exegetical commentary on the nascent meme. I believe this conflict over whether or not the owling meme should be censored from encyclopedic knowledge begs the question on what grounds is censorship legitimate. In response I point to the "Lying Down Game" or Planking allowed on your website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lying_down_game. Therefore, I am of the opinion that this revision of owling should be allowed, but sure to make the differention between the antiquated phenomenon of owling and the nascent phenomena of the owling meme.)Verb4i roby (talk) 01:48, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Per comment below referring to this. — Daniel Case (talk) 04:54, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

As mentioned in the template above, you might want to read up on Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks, specifically the section titled Talk about yourself, not others. Magog the Ogre (talk) 01:52, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Given that I am an obviously new and immature with regard to how to communicate to administrators and other editors, I must say that I am sorry for my unkind words and ill thought actions. Therefore, first and foremost I wish to apologize for my mistakes and begin anew. I promise that I will never re-break the three revision rule. Secondly, I will never again make insincere threats such as multiple IP addressing, which again breaks Wikipedia policy. Simply put, I am sorry and wish that the block be lifted from my account so that I may contribute the "Owling Meme" page that I have been vigilantly working on to ensure its notability per Wikipedia policy and standards. Thank you for you time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Verb4i roby (talkcontribs) 16:34, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not done You're already unblocked, and have been for several hours now (it was only a 12 hour unblock). Please continue to edit, yes, but also try reading up on Wikipedia's policy on edit warring just for your information (it also points out that edit warring in general is bad and a blockable offense, even if it doesn't striclty break the three-revert rule). I do see you're quite new here and unknowledgeable of our policies, etc. so I'm am going to leave a welcome template below. The community is pretty forgiving, so you should be able to start anew and this strike shouldnt' be held against you, excepting perhaps further blocks for the same action in the future. An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Owling (internet meme). Since you had some involvement with the Owling (internet meme) redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. -- Tavix (talk) 22:32, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
