Sorry -- that wasn't vandalism, it was just a mistake. I was copying information from there to the Volapük Wikipedia, and got confused about which window on the screen was pointing where. --Smeira 14:44, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

No problem--easy mistake to make--Rossheth | Talk 14:45, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

XL-EasyGantt

If you think the {{db-bio}} tag was inappropriate, you must have misread the template, which clearly states "person, group of people, band, club, company, or website that does not assert the importance or significance of the subject". In addition, it is purely used for advertising (G11), as can be seen from the contributions of it's [WP:SPA|single-purpose account]] creator. Please restore the tag, or I will do it later. It's not doing great harm right now, but it's also an inappropriate article. -- Renesis (talk) 20:44, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Replaced, but I think its borderline.Rossheth | Talk 22:22, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I appreciate your looking closely at this in the first place. However, with articles of this type it has become my opinion that they are better off realizing from the beginning that this is not a place to advertise products of no notability, as advertisements become magnets for more advertisements. -- Renesis (talk) 05:53, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
You're right, and of course the likelihood of the article ever being edited again was slim to nil.--Rossheth | Talk 11:36, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Apple article

I wasn't deleting the content, merely moving it to a separate article, as I think the topic is important and large enough to merit one. Please allow me to continue. You're welcome to discuss it here: Talk:Apple#Folklore_and_Tradition --Tchoutoye 15:51, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Cstanfie

I've been having trouble with this guy and some other users who might be meatpuppets since yesterday evening, when I first tried to delete the article. They seem to think that the attempt to delete an article on their pastor is an attack on their church as a church, and that I'm attacking evangelical Christianity — even though I myself am an evangelical, as can be seen on my userpage! Nyttend 16:59, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

It seems to me to just be the usual case of someone taking the deletion of their pet topic personally. More serious is the personal attack made against you by the anonymous user who I suspect to be Cstanfie trying to avoid blame, and the later legal threat. I can see the outcome of this already-the user will be blocked and the article deleted. In the interests of full disclosure, I'm an atheist, but it shouldn't make a difference. You can even say that you have support from both ends of the religious spectrum!--Rossheth | Talk to me 17:06, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
FYI, there is definitely a sockpuppetry issue here. I have been tracking three user names and at least a half dozen IP addresses at this point that appear to be either the same person or a whole group of abrasive and obnoxious like-minded people. Trusilver 20:02, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
If it's of interest, I've had one or two personal attacks on this talk page. You might want to look. I'll find the permanent links.--Rossheth | Talk to me 20:06, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Here we are.--Rossheth | Talk to me 20:08, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Unintelligable

The treatment of CStanfie and the article Jay S. Thomas by the aforementioned Nyttend is the most pusillanimous series of actions I have ever witnessed at the hands of editors on this site. Cstanfie was right to bring up the ramifications of religious and racial persecution. Absolutely uncalled for. Use a dictionary if you must.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rellis0415 (talkcontribs) 18:22, 18 June 2007 (UTC+1)

I'm going to leave this little gem here, for the title `Unintelligable' is truly apt.--Rossheth | Talk to me 17:27, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I got a similar ridiculous message (he threatens me with legal actions on a section entitled "lacking in tact..." :-)
Thanks so much for helping to watch the whole process today. I normally work with uncontroversial matters, such as townships in Ohio, and I definitely am not accustomed to dealing with stuff like the Thomas article. I guess the way it's turned out is a good example of how Wikipedia is supposed to work. Nyttend 21:57, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
I appreciate the kind word, since I've been trying to get more involved in administrative things lately.--Rossheth | Talk to me 08:19, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Revert

Hi,

Just a quick note. The reason for the removal of that paragraph is it originally belonged to the article Turkish Kurdistan. I transferred the paragraph to that article as it mainly discusses the geography (Kurdistan) not the Kurds themselves. It was not vandalism :) Thanks.Heja Helweda 17:54, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Sorry. On recent changes patrol, removal of large sections of text seems suspicious. No harm done.--Rossheth | Talk to me 17:57, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

You have just now beaten me twice on vandal patrol. In recognition of fast and efficient work on reverting vandalism, I award you this anti-vandalism barnstar. Well done! Lradrama 10:10, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Why, thank you. Much appreciated. Nice to know I'm doing something right ;-).--Rossheth | Talk to me 10:13, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks...

... for your help in fighting vandalism today. Keep doing so! Andrij Kursetsky 10:23, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind comment.--Rossheth | Talk to me 10:25, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Fast!

You were fast fixing up the DY Per article, thanks. Was the stubbing/categorization/movement automated at all, or did you just happen to get there quickly? I usually find it a more tedious process to move an article and create a redirect, so I'm wondering if you have a faster method. --Keflavich 16:19, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I spotted it in recent changes. The process of moving an article using the "move" tab automatically creates a redirect, so that's the best way to handle moves. As to adding stubs and categories, the most difficult bit is looking up the right ones at the preposterously long page, stub types. No automation involved. Thanks for the compliment, as well.--Rossheth | Talk to me 16:25, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Ah yes, here's the page documenting moves-WP:MV.--Rossheth | Talk to me 16:27, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

TYC

why are you deleting this article??? TYC junebuggy 16:39, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I am not personally deleting the article, however, my opinion on Articles for Deletion, a community consensus process, is that the article does not meet the notability guidelines of WP:N, specifically, that it has not been the subject of reliable, independant, secondary sources. Don't take it personally. If you disagree, make your opinion known at the deletion discussion. You may also want to read the deletion policy.--Rossheth | Talk to me 16:46, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Huh? Plain English please. I just got back from a college where one of my proffesors spoke English and the rest babbled in Chineese. It's safe to say my English is shot. junebuggy 17:12, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
What exactly do you not understand about my reponse?--Rossheth | Talk to me 17:14, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I am very new to the whole editing business on wikipedia, and i wanted to first of all thank you for sending me a notice about the pages i put up. I work for the Jewish Women's Archive and have been given the assignment of making wikipedia pages for a bunch of women that we have done research on. All the text I am using has been taken directly from our website (with full permission) and has included a link to that site. How can i keep up those entries?Mrudnick87 19:20, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

The note you have put on the talk pages of the articles ought to be sufficient, but you should also include a link to a contact page with a valid email address. I will put a note on Wikipedia:GNU Free Documentation License resources recording the fact. Note that both articles should have some more sources added to them, so that they conform to the notability guidelines of WP:N and WP:BIO.--Rossheth | Talk to me 19:27, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I added contact information to all the talk pages of the entries in question. when you say that articles should have more sources, could you clarify that for me? are you looking for references to other websites or secondary materials?Mrudnick87 19:58, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
You've hit the nail on the head there. Secondary sources, references to the subjects in other websites, articles, books, and the sources you used to carry out your research, ideally. See WP:RS and WP:BIO--Rossheth | Talk to me 20:07, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying that for me. I am now in the process of adding some addition sources of that kind to those entries.Mrudnick87 20:10, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for taking the time to add sources. Many editors don't. One more useful link-[[WP:CITE] (and yes, there is a policy page about everything).--Rossheth | Talk to me 20:20, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Great- thanks. I have one more question: I have already had two entries just like the others that were completely deleted. If I try to make them again and do the same thing I did with the ones you saw, will they be safe?Mrudnick87 20:59, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[outdent] The only thing is the article Kim Chernin is just a quote. By all means include the quote, but if you could add some background information like biographical data that would improve it no end.--Rossheth | Talk to me 10:19, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Abusive Edits from Anon IP

Please feel free to ban this ip address from editing while not logged in. This IP belongs to the Joliet Public Library and I am a Librarian there. I believe that the people making abusive edits are some of the highschool aged children who use the computers semi-regularly. I have observed them editing Wikipedia before and I have sumbled upon several warnings such as the one you posted. -71.194.117.204 23:04, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I feel I should point out that I am not an administrator, and so I can't actually block anyone.--Rossheth | Talk to me 10:22, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

This article does not have the Db on it that you reference on the originator's talk page. This is just a heads up. Cheers! --Stormbay 21:34, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip.--Rossheth | Talk to me 18:57, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
