DYK for Horn OK Please (song)

The DYK project (nominate) 00:02, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

Welcome to the 2014 WikiCup!

Hello Soham, and welcome to the 2014 WikiCup! Your submission page can be found here. The competition began on 1 January. There have been a few small changes from last year; the rules can be read in full at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring, and the page also includes a summary of changes. One important rule to remember is that only content on which you have completed significant work, and nominated, in 2014 is eligible for points in the competition- the judges will be checking! As ever, this year's competition includes some younger editors. If you are a younger editor, you are certainly welcome, but we have written an advice page at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Advice for younger editors for you. Please do take a look. Any questions should be directed to one of the judges, or left on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup. Signups will close imminently, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will make it to round 2. Good luck! Mullum Malarum

I feel sorry for the failure in the GA review of "Tooh (song)", and wish u better luck next time. Meanwhile, can u continue the GA review of Mullum Malarum? Kailash29792 (talk) 11:29, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Sorry. But I read here that when non-English sources have been used in eng wiki, a translation of them should be provided at their talk pages for verification. -- Sriram speak up 18:02, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi Sriram Vikram, how did ur exam(s) go? Bcos google translate cannot accurately translate non-eng sources, what to do? Can someone create a website/blogpost with the translated content? Kailash29792 (talk) 18:11, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
The exam is scheduled to happen only by next week. Found it difficult to keep myself off wiki! -- Sriram speak up 18:13, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
Btw, we haven't used the complete texts in the article itself. Except for wikipedians, very few people visit talk pages. -- Sriram speak up 18:15, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
And what was it about Google? I translated them manually and admins who can understand Tamil can be called upon to verify if need be. -- Sriram speak up 18:35, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
No matter where you add it, it has to comply with fair-use policy otherwise will violate copyright, more so if the entire article is converted and pasted on the talk. I suggest you keep only the quoted parts, that too in the article along with the citations. Soham 05:52, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Do you mean to say, the quoted parts should be in Tamil along with its translation in the main text or will the eng translation alone suffice? -- Sriram speak up 06:18, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Soham, I'm back. Can we get working? Kailash29792 (talk) 11:02, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Thank u for passing the GA review. A great time working with you. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:17, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

I'm sorry. But isn't the GA button usually added by a bot (Legobot)? -- Sriram speak up 17:07, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Can be manually added as well. Soham 08:08, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Oh! I didn't know that. My bad! Btw, can I remind of a request I made reg File:Naaraaz.jpg? -- Sriram speak up 17:58, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

Dedh Ishqiya

Dear as you can see there are some users who are trying to manipulate the facts about the movie. They removed the budget of the movie and also all the sources along with the paragraph that states Dedh Ishqiya flopped at the Box office. I have no idea why they are trying to mislead the public about that? can you kindly reinstate the facts and references that have been removed? Appreciate ur cooperationKajol3000 (talk) 19:40, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I have seen that my contributions in Dedh Ishqiya were changed. All the sites I have given certification to are reliable specially indicine and Boxofficeindia. these are major sites that give in detail info about any Bollywood movie performance at the box office. They are used as references for all films here in wiki. the other sites that were mentioned and provided by others were basically fan sites and not related anything to box office. Kajol3000 (talk) 13:17, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

RFA Comment

In your !vote at Piotrus's RFA, you said, "If he gets de-sysopped again that would mean either a block or a ban". Is there some sort of policy about this? I've never heard of a desysopping leading to an automatic block or ban, so it made me curious. Inks.LWC (talk) 09:58, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

dont eat the yellow snow suite

you took down my edit because you said it wasnt constructive when in fact the song in which the paragraph i was referring to was the first song in which zappa uses the line "strictly commercial" which is now a phrase almost always tied to Frank Zappa and has his greatest hits album named that very phrase. So in this light, i believe it is in fact constructive to bring up the line "strictly commercial" as it was first used in the track "Dont Eat The Yellow Snow". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nitrophos (talkcontribs) 07:55, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

SKJBollywoodnews

Soham,

With due respect i agree with you on this but how can u judge that skjbollywoodnews.com is not a reliable source, it is headed by veteran journalist Subhash K. Jha giving reviews from almost 20 years and all of the reviews are his, i didn't add anything which is spammy or out of context. Adding reliable source and comments are of what wikipedia is all about, you can't just consider anything spammy as per your opinion. I with due respect like you to take notice of all the reviews done by Subhash K. Jha and try to verify the fact before considering something reliable or not. You have full authority to delete anything anytime but considering a reliable source spammy doesn't solve the purpose. Final decision rests on you. And SK jha is the main source of content for IANS and all major websites. With warm regards Thank YouVaibhav.times (talk) 13:12, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Agreed Soham, i don't add article links as they are published in Bollywood Hungama but Bollywood Hungama don't carry reviews of SK Jha , So Skjbollywoodnews is official site of Subash K jha and it is genuine source to take his reviews... ThanksVaibhav.times (talk) 16:52, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

You are welcome my Bro Soham :)

Sohambanerjee1998

I just realized you used to be Sohambanerjee1998. Didn't we have a problem back around Sep 2013 where I asked you to stay off my talk page? I've just noticed that since around Sep 15, you have repeatedly posted there. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:16, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Hmm, How unfriendly. Looking at the Talk on the page at present, you seem to be conducting an agreeable conversation( aren't you?) — | Gareth Griffith-Jones |The WelshBuzzard| — 15:24, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Please stay off my talk page too if you continue to change my posts and comments. You edited my post here, I don't know why you did not create a new paragraph and wrote on someone else's post, I ignored it and signed my part. Once again, you edited my post. I have tried to show courtesy by not reverting these two edits. But, please stop such behaviour. Someone's talk page message is not an article which you can easily edit to make it more complete and better. TitoDutta 17:12, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
Gareth Griffith-Jones, you know me and how friendly I am. There is a reason behind this unfriendliness. I am extremely wary of him posting at my page after what he did.
Soham, in response to this post, you replied at my talk page for some reason. I just don't understand that. Anyway, you may post at my talk, but be on your best behaviour. With me, you have been, and that is appreciated. But, keep in mind, business only. No drama. No two cents. No involving yourself in matters that don't concern you. Okay? Looking at Titodutta's diffs, well, I would be furious. You simply must bite your lip and not do that sort of thing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:33, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Anna for the suggestion and I will definitely follow it but I have an old habit (they die hard) of stalking talk pages. Anyways to keep my editing intact I will kick it. Thanks again, Anna.

Gareth, thanks matey, its not in my jurisdiction to discuss about the incidents that led to my right to post on Anna's tp being revoked. It is extremely complicated, for me too. Soham 13:59, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your understanding, Soham. I haven't looked too deeply, but I think you are a very good editor in all respects, the only issue being the posting-when-you-should-probably-bite-your-lip-and-not habit. Kick that habit and you're aces. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:07, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Definitely. Thanks. Soham 14:21, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
Such hostility, wow. I don't like people rule warring citing WP:xxx either though. Tito has a point!♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:32, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
I really didn't mean to seem hostile in this thread. I know the very phrase "stay off my talk page" is abrasive and I never would have said it back then had it not been entirely necessary. I've never said it to anyone before or since, and not something I would say lightly at all. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:42, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Blo, see my reply at Tito's tp explaining my actions and I don't think Tito was mentioning about rule-warring, I think it was about talk page comments though. As for Anna, I don't think she is being hostile here, there were some incidents which led to it and I totally support Anna's decision. Soham 15:48, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Oh I think we all are wasting our time over arguing over this by not doing some content contributing instead. It is a matter of the past, the hatchet has been buried I suppose so there is no point in bringing it up again. And Anna, I think threads are associate with forums which I think wp is not so referring it as a section would be more appropriate. Violates WP:TPG Soham 15:53, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
Indeed, let's drop this discussion. It's settled. And WP:TPG uses "threads". Ha! :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:14, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

How sweet of you to help and set things alright in the page!!! :) :D

Talk comments should not be marked as minor edits

Just as a heads up, adding new talk page comments should not be marked as minor edits as I've noticed you usually do, regardless of the size of the comment. A minor edit signifies that the edit did not make any significant or disputable changes (like fixing typos in articles, reverting vandalism anywhere, etc. – see Help:Minor edit for details). Marking a major edit as minor is generally considered poor etiquette. Cheers, Smtchahal (talk) 20:33, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

I know what minor edit is called and know when to use them but in my browser(chrome) the minor edit button is always checked, I can uncheck it but it becomes tedious to do so. It does not occur with IE 10 from which I am writing you this reply. But I can't kick chrome because I like it so much because of its "ripped-to-the-bone" architecture and developer modes, I do lot of SRC fixing (image) and other stuff. —Soham 06:33, 23 February 2014 (UTC) – Moved from my talk page, please reply on your own talk page (as you say in your notice on your talk page) the next time Smtchahal (talk) 07:01, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
That's weird, because I'm using Chrome as well and it never happened with me. Did you try stuff like clearing your cookies or bypassing your cache? Because that's clearly a browser issue; I would clear my whole browser history along with cache, cookies, and everything "from the beginning of time" if I were you. Smtchahal (talk) 07:01, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
"Reset default settings" would screw my developer mode extensions. —Soham 07:03, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
I think resetting default settings is not the same as clearing browser history and everything, but then, maybe doing the latter wouldn't really make a difference. I would give it a try. Smtchahal (talk) 07:11, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Clearing Browser history and cache are part of resetting default settings. But as I said, "developer mode extensions", looks like I'll wait till the next update of Chrome. —Soham 07:17, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
