It appears that your recent additions to Olive oil may be a copyright violation of previously published work. Please see our policy on copyright violations for more information and to keep this from happening in the future. Yobol (talk) 16:09, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Yobol! What do you mean by copyright violations? All the additions to Olive oil are properly cited and the original text is mine, as part of my original research as well. Please let me know, what I should do to avoid appearing as copyright violation. Thanks!

As I am not well-versed in the area of copyrights, I have asked your question here, where editors who are more versed can answer. Someone has answered my question there, and you can follow-up with questions of your own as well. Happy editing! Yobol (talk) 15:06, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Yobol again and thank you for your answer. I read editors and yes, this is MY doctoral thesis. I was not aware that I should cite my thesis in that way.A doctoral thesis in biomedicine field, nowadays, it is always supported by peer-reviewed scientific publications, otherwise it is not a thesis at al. If I have to cite my thesis, I would gladly do it, but I think that scientific articles are more accurate source of knowledge. I would not wish my contribution to provide any incovinience with wikipedia's rules and I could re-write the article, you have removed from the "olive oil" section, but the references etc will be the same. Please let me know what I should do next. Thanks for all the information. It is really useful for the wikipedia new users.

It might be better to condense some of that information and re-word it to avoid copyright problems; I would actually suggest asking that question in the thread linked above, as it is seen by more editors and they may be more knowledgeable about what the next appropriate next step for you is. In response to your feedback

We have to cite stuff so we can avoid original research. Also, the fact that you used your own doctoral thesis smells like conflict of interest to me.

Thank you Agent 78787 for your response. I am really sorry that you "smell" COI. In my case the "stuff" cited in my contribution in wikipedia were scientific publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Moreover, I have no interest in any kind of publicity in wikipedia and the so-called conflict of interest, as it is defined in wikipedia, does not exixt, in my opinion and in my case. The knowledge published in my doctoral thesis was supported by 3 original scientific publications, as it is done in biomedical research field nowadays. However, these results are novel and are lucking from wikipedia contents and this is the only reason why I have used some paragraphs to enrich wikipedia's already existing article. If this is not wikipedia's mission, I apologize for the misunderstanding. I am willing to re-write my contribution to avoid any "COI" with my doctoral thesis, but the main idea will be the same. However, the COI issue that you raised up is really important and I would like to ask other wikipedia's users as well, with more previous experience, for their opinion and good practice.ValentiniK (talk) 09:16, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
