Your contributed article, Uruttu Chammanthi[edit]

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Uruttu Chammanthi. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Coconut Chutney. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Coconut Chutney - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Cindamuse (talk) 08:04, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:ThengaChammanthi(1).JPG[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:ThengaChammanthi(1).JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:32, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

North Malabar[edit]

Friend, then Malayalam script will find the place in many other Indian articles... This is English Wikipedia and only the official script of the region is more than enough. arun talk 16:37, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Did I call you a vandal or what??? Its just your imagination. Adding multiple scripts in the article will make it look more unencyclopedic. To form a standard is the purpose of including only the official script. arun talk 15:43, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Mr Arun, since you are so much interested in cleaning up the pages by deleting other language scripts, I can give you some job. If you wish and allow me. I can give you pages having other language scripts. For today you plz cleanp (1) North Malabar Gramin Bank (2) Theyyam (3) Kalliasseri. Please clean up these pages. Then tomorrow I will give you another set of three. Thank you.
North Malabar, this kind of snark and personal attacks will eventually get blocked from wikipedia. You don't dictate what others can do or not do. We have explained, what the wikipedia convention about adding native scripts is. You think you are being clever by giving us clean up jobs. Keep at it, you will get blocked eventually. --Sodabottle (talk) 07:01, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Friend, you seem to be a good editor who has got a good deal of knowledge. Why are you deliberately wasting your time scribbling things such as u gonna crazy and frantic... so pity. on my talk page??? Please make good use of the account, know more on Wikipedia policy and start contributing to articles with a positive attitude. Next time you repeat this, I will be forced to report. Thanks arun talk 11:40, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I second that, your contributions are solid. You can do a lot good here. The scripts thing is just a convention wikipedia has arrived after long deliberations (lots of script wars). The official language script only policy is there to avoid this exact kind of script wars in articles. Wikipedia policy always doesn't agree with what we think is good. I have learnt to live with that. I suggest you do that too and move on.--Sodabottle (talk) 12:28, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Both Soda and Arun, thanks a lot for the eyeopener words.--Utharamalabar (talk) 05:07, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Manual of style[edit]

Hello, I have been going through some of the Indian food articles you have been working on. The enthusiasm you display is to be lauded!

I want to make some suggestions that can help you when creating or working on such articles:

  1. When you create an article, please do not include instruction on the preparation of the dish. This is part of the policy WP:Not, specifically Wikipedia is not a manual (cookbook in this case). The proper place for recipes is on Wikibooks which is found here
  2. When adding links to the "See also" an article, only add those links that are directly related to the article. Do not add a long list random links to the article that only have a tenuous relation to the subject. One such example is the coconut chutney article, you added links involving places and martial arts to an article on a food dish. You can learn more in the Manual of style on layout to see what I mean.
  3. The same goes for the navigational templates at the found at the bottom of the article.

I hope this helps you increase your knowledge on how to edit here on Wikipedia. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 16:28, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jeremy,

Certainly your directions are helpful. These points have been noted. Thank you very much.--UtharaMalabar (talk) 11:37, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright warning[edit]

Wikipedia cannot accept images taken from elsewhere on the internet, because this is a copyright violation. (There are some exceptions for images that are freely licensed, but the VAST MAJORITY of images elsewhere are NOT USABLE.) I have deleted all of your image contributions because they all appeared to be uploaded in violation of copyright. This is a very serious matter. If you continue to upload copyrighted images, your account will be blocked. Thank you for your cooperation. Calliopejen1 (talk) 23:18, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr/Ms Calliopejen1, None of images which you have deleted from my uploaded group, are neither copied nor violating any copyright policies. I am surprised note the deletion. Can you kindly make me aware about: where from these have been copied?? If you prove that they were copied, you are welcome to delete. Otherwise, please restore those. Thanks.--UtharaMalabar (talk) 06:24, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please see my log to view all the URLs where these images were copied from. EVERY image I checked had been copied from elsewhere on the internet. How can you explain this if you say you have not copied images? Once I had established this for 20 or so images, I deleted the rest. I will soon likely do the same for your alternate accounts, where I have observed further copyright violations. Please reply and indicate your understanding of the copyright policy - your denial is very troubling. Calliopejen1 (talk) 06:56, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

References that failed verification[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. In this edit to the Kannur article on October 8, you added several references to sources that did not support the content you attached them to. A couple of the sources you added did not even mention Kannur. As you probably know, the purpose of references is to improve the WP:verifiability of the statements preceding them in the article. Or as WP:INTEGRITY puts it, "The point of an inline citation is to allow readers and other editors to check that the material is sourced." It is part of a larger fact-checking process. Adding references that have nothing to do with the article's text is counter-productive to that process. Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners and Wikipedia:Citing sources have more info. hi --59.90.7.159 (talk) 07:10, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on CODISSIA requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Ironholds (talk) 19:07, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:CODISSIA LOGO.JPG[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:CODISSIA LOGO.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
