Proposed deletion of Ronald Wagner[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ronald Wagner, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

CV puffery regarding a minor entrepreneur, bolstered by snippets about companies he's been involved, not about himself.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Quick blurb[edit]

Hi, Ron. Wanted to poke in here, as I read your contribution for the above AFD. Note, my background: I run a private web server, and have been on the internet since 1995, wherein I used a UUCP link to acquire email.

I think the problem is in how the community sees contributions to the internet. The article you wrote - which, regretfully, looks more like a resume than anything - doesn't come off (to me, at any rate) as having been somebody who contributed to the internet at large. As near as I can tell, we'd be more looking at the general contributions to what makes it tick - at the protocol level. (Eric S. Raymond, as a for instance, comes to mind. So does Ted Stevens, if only because he contributed the Series of Tubes nickname.) I think that, if you were to be able to get an article here, it would need to come up at a different angle - in short, how are you notable, and how can we verify this? Anything beyond your resume that we can use? That sort of thing. (Note, check the links there - this is our basic most litmus test for articles here.)

One more thing to point out is the conflict of interest problem. I encourage you to read this one as well. Short version: writing about yourself tends to be bad juju.

Hopefully we can get something that works. To be blunt, though, what exists right now...well, it's like I said, it looks too much like a resume. --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 20:37, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
