Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Tunasaur, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page K. Balabharathi did not conform to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may have been removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations verified in reliable, reputable print or online sources or in other reliable media. Always provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to The Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Again, welcome!  Drmies (talk) 22:31, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Tunasaur, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Benjamin Scott, PhD, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Hi Jay8g, thank you for reaching out! It's great to contribute to the Wikipedia team. I would really appreciate it if you can proofread the page if you are willing. Also, how is the best way for me to prove that I do not have a conflict of interest with this subject matter? Tunasaur (talk) 05:23, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The main thing is to write with a neutral point of view and not in a promotional way, as you did in that article. When you write articles like they're a resume, people will assume you have a COI because promotional content is not something that people without a connection to the subject tend to create. I'll also note that all of the sources you provided in the article are not independent sources, which do not demonstrate notability. In its current state, this article is extremely unlikely to be kept. You may want to move it to draft space so that it can be reviewed by others (I expect that someone else will come along and either do that or nominate it for deletion shortly). :Jay8g [VTE] 05:36, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That makes a lot of sense, thank you! I do not have a COI but tried to model it after this article (Michael Hasselmo) since they're in the same department. I must not have translated it well enough. I'll move it to draft space and edit it to ensure it meets all the guidelines. Would it be okay with you if I share the draft after I revise it? Tunasaur (talk) 06:04, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh, that article is pretty bad too. Please don't use it as an example! You should probably look at some good articles for examples of what to do. :Jay8g [VTE] 06:56, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh no! Thank you for letting me know, I will model after those good articles. :) Tunasaur (talk) 19:53, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I reviewed the good articles and tried my hand at another! This time, much more of a diverse array of third-party sources :) Draft:Chastity Bowick Tunasaur (talk) 00:06, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Donald Albury. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Taíno, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Donald Albury 14:15, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
