Question about sourcing

Where do you think I copied information from other sources? I see you removed information about the Besant School, Huxley etc. I did lift some of it from my own blog; does that count?

There are a couple of problems. Copying material from your own blog is still a copyright violation if there has been no explicit license on your blog to allow copying compatible with Wikipedia's own licensing. And you should not be adding your own original material to Wikipedia. Most of the time, blogs are not considered a reliable source. — jmcgnh^{(talk) (contribs)} 03:00, 5 March 2020 (UTC)

Help me!

My blog is fully sourced from the book I cited (The Rainbow Picnic, Daphne Fielding, 1974). I just picked up some verbiage instead of rephrasing it. Is that why you thought it wasn't original, or accurate? After I published the blog post, I heard from Tree's son, who was pleased with it (and didn't say anything was inaccurate). I figured since it was my own writing it would be all right to, in essence, give my permission for Wikipedia to publish it, but it seems perhaps I was wrong.

It's a shame to have such little information about a figure so interesting as Iris Tree on Wiki. Also, I rather dislike that the page has a nude image of her that doesn't seem a very representative or accurate a depiction (it just looks like so many other Modiglianis). Tree had a signature "helmet" of golden hair and was photographed by Man Ray, drawn by Augustus John, sculpted by Jacob Epstein, etc. There are many other images of her to choose from, and I respectfully suggest you choose another one.

Your blog is non-free and can not be reused, unless licence is specified there.

Copyright is implied. See Berne Convention.

• To specify a licence, author can choose to add the licence to their work.

This licence should be easily visible to readers of this work.

You cannot publish a blog on your site, and licence it at Wikipedia. It should be in both places.

• Wikipedia uses creative commons licences for its content.

Creative commons licences allow anyone to reuse the content, conditionally, but without asking the author for permission. This is an important difference. Such freedom allows anyone to copy information to their work (in this case, with attribution).
