The shortest AIV case ever?

3 minutes! If possible, I'd buy you a drink. If not of age or are not of that type of faith prevents consumption of alcohol, I'd buy you some cookies. This to this having to be the shortest AIV case ever? Since user didn't inform me, I only found this now while scanning admin boards to see if anything foolish had been attempted. For what actually happened, see my talk page in literally every diff from here through here. This user has been censured by admins fairly recently about not understanding the definition of basic Wikipedia editing policy, such as 3RR is violated at the 4th and not 3rd, that if you type "this is not a revert" in an edit summary it doesn't count toward the total even if it's the same file size to their last version, and apparently interpreting my suggestion that the user take concerns to an administrator forum instead of endlessly harassing me is somehow a threat. I was pondering reporting the nonsense, but I think this is humiliation enough. It also made me said that level 3 and 4 template warnings sent by Twinkle were considered personal attacks... and I was 100% intent on reporting the incivility if it hadn't stopped. It's hard to ignore the trolls when they add in something minor every 20 seconds and edit your own statements on your own talk page.

Thanks for... fixing this. This'll sound stupid, but I take a lot of pride in being on the Huggle whitelist since apparently a script somewhere has deemed me a non-threat to the community, which is pretty much the highest form of praise one can get short of adminship. Well, one day... Oh, and if you could ask User:660gd4qo to maybe pause on the editing of an article they are repeatedly reverted on for awhile, it could be helpful. Not a problem. The AIV report was a quick review, based on the language of the report and your contributions. However, it sounds like there is a content dispute (and possibly some edit warring?) going. I think it would be best to request a third opinion or ask for review at the edit war noticeboard. Cheers! When i edits something, this user stalking and reverting my edits without any single consensus. Also, I NEVER stalk and revert of User:Datheisen's edits. Then the best idea is discuss your issues on the article's talk page (which, I believe, is Taekwondo) and stop posting on each other's talk pages. (Major edit conflict, apparently) I'm not involved in the article in any way, shape or form other than being a (permitted by contributors) unofficial moderator on POV edits. Of course I'm not in the discussion, since I oversight the talk and look at postings separately later. I think last week this user put in a sock report for me, which was also laughed off. I came in to this article originally as a requested 3rd party evaluation that had been listed for over a week on the requests page. Since I literally know zero about the subject and didn't care what happened to the article in the end I figured it'd be perfect fit for me since everything would need citations/explanations. More interestingly, however, is that the user called me for "edit warring" after 1 revert done to the article today. Perhaps they were counting the exact 3 I did a week ago and said in the edit summary that I would not pursue after 3? Since I came into the article of since, I've directly spoken with zero contributors iand done zero actual content edits, which is how it should be for a 3O. There's a reason I laughed at the AIV request idea when I saw it but didn't know the outcome, since I knew my "admin decision position" ahead of time... I think about it every time I post under some duress.

So let's see, Quickie sock report, immediately blanked by admin last week. AIV, stuck down today with a hammer in 3 minutes this week... I wonder what it'll be next week. See, I don't want to touch the article anymore, but if I see it with a huge bold red number size change on my watchlist I cannot in good conscience ignore it, knowing it's just further attempts at claiming ownership of the article. It was deleted because it did not indicate why the group was notable enough for an article. Also, the article was written like a press release. It's advertising because it contained material such as "Clearly this shows Stephen is a focused and hardworking individual. The target was set early and was delivered, although the business does have 200,000 customers he has yet to sell it and he did make a substantial amount of money and bought a Ferrari aged 25!", which is absolutely not acceptable for an encyclopedia that is supposed to be written neutrally. If you are serious about writing a neutral, well sourced article, please read our info on writing your first article and write a draft in your userspace. The page was deleted because it was an advertisement. Please read our info on writing your first article, as well as how to write from a neutral point of view without using peacock terms. There was not enough context in the article and it also appeared to be little more than a dictionary definition. Since the article "Demetria Alexandropoulos" was deleted, how can the entry name be deleted as well. Until we work on the article more, it's preferable and better for the artist's reputation to have no entry come up if someone types in the name, rather than a page indicating the article was deleted due to not being significant (A7)

In regards to this; I've blocked the IP for 3 months, given the long-term vandalism here. While you're right in saying that there were large gaps between edits, the recent spate of edits that all targeted one page lead me to believe the IP was static, or at least being used by the same vandal. Energy For Opportunity (EFO)

I would like to create a Wikipedia entry for the non-profit organization called Energy For Opportunity. Apparently, an attempt at a page was previously made. It was deleted by you on May 10, 2009. I don't know who wrote the earlier attempt, so I am not looking for suggestions based on this previous attempt (I have never seen it).

I am contacting you as per Wikipedia protocol.

Today I started a 'userspace draft' and don't expect to be finished for at least another few days. Of course, I'd like to do a decent job, and welcome any editing suggestions or changes.

It looks like you're off to a good start, but the article still appears to missing significant coverage of the subject in independent reliable sources. Have there been any articles about the company in magazines or books (note that press releases don't count)? Interviews in major publications? That's the next step you need to take as you write. Well, the Inveneo source just gives the address for the Sierra Leone location and the Canada Registered Charity source doesn't really give significant coverage of the subject either. Sure. The Inveneo and Canada Revenue sources were more to prove the existence of the organization, not the relevance (or notability in wikispeak). I suppose that's debatable, how notable this registered charity is. If I come across any other articles pertaining to its notability, I'll add them. For now, I'm going to give up and make a sandwich. Removing non-notables in the Fidget House article

I'm sorry but i do not understand why do you consider the artists i added to fidget house non-notable. It is true that it is a recent genre, difficult to comprehensively describe but it was with that in mind that I strictly choose those that have become most notable for their work in the genre, producing and playing at large international events such as i love techno at Belgium or hard mansion at LA and New York, both with thousands of attenders, and been extensively written about in blogs and magazines such as pitchfork or NME. The choices you made to delete them actually seem inaccurate looking at the ones who were left. Defunct! For example, is mostly unknown, and i believe was added by the artists themselves or a devoted fan, as well as Leko, which was there as well, this last one without any type of public appraisal. They were removed because there is no current Wikipedia article about them. If they have an article, they can be added to the fidget house article. These redlinks are removed to prevent articles from accruing dozens of names that do not allow readers to click on them to get more info. If the artists with articles (such as Defunct! etc.) do not fit with this genre, please feel free to remove them. TN X Man 12:49, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Ok, I guess you're right. I think it would still be helpful to add them for the people wanting to know more about the genre, is it adequate to add them without the link? And about Defunct!, they do fit the genre but i think it may just an act of promotion. i am not sure though, and that's why I didn't remove them.

Even if you add the artists without a link, I still think you would run in to the same problem. What you could do, however, is write articles for the artists and then add them to the fidget house article. FUCTnyc

Hello,

I registered as FUCTnyc to try and make a page for the comedy troupe FUCT. There is already a site for Fuct clothing line, but since the comedy troupe FUCT is an entirely different entity, and I provided references, I'm not sure why it was deleted. I did my best to not make it an advertisement site as I know that's not allowed, but I would like to put up a new site for the comedy troupe under this, my personal account. How can I make one (like bands have, for instance) without being booted?

The best idea is to read our guide to writing your first article, then write a draft in your userspace (something like User:SweeneySkip/Sandbox). ActiveVOS is demonstrably a "notable" BPEL engine

You seem to be deleting entries for ActiveVOS, perhaps semi-automatically, for being "non notable". Active Endpoints has been in business for 6 years selling nothing but its BPEL engine, previously called ActiveBPEL, but now called ActiveVOS. We are growing quickly and in just the last 18 months have 80 _new_ companies using our BPEL engine. You can find some case studies here: http://www.activevos.com/proof-casestudies.php.

I do not want to turn Wikipedia into a commercial for us, but we _certainly_ deserve to be mentioned in any list that includes other BPEL engines. I just deleted the Lithuania Express article per G7 (it was pulled up on one of my browser tabs for a couple of hours). I usually don't like "overturning" another admin's decision, but I didn't understand your reason for reverting to a previous revision, restoring the page's content; the author wished for the article to be deleted. Okay, thanks. The edit was a rather straightforward removal of redundant content instead of editing/building upon the article, so to me granting the author's request was still in reach. Unless the edits go beyond vandal reverts, SmackBot, typo fixes and the like, it's still primarily the author's original work, and IMHO it's usually fine to delete. Hi, you deleted my posting today. I understand that there is a need to police the site for advertising, but how can i list this company without violating wikipedia rules for advertising. Here are other company sites with similar products. Is there a reason why these companies pages are allowed to stay on wikipedia? Is there a formula for the company page that I can follow? Deletion of "Senomix Timesheets" page?

Hi,

I just logged in to add some edits to the Senomix Timesheets Wikipedia page which used to be located at:

However, I see it was marked for speedy deletion and removed by you this weekend.

As far as I can tell, the page itself did not match the "Unambiguous advertising or promotion" reasons for which it was deleted. There was no advertising on that page and we have been exceptionally careful in writing the text to ensure it met Wikipedia's standard for product histories. There was no promotional chatter or other garbage which I'm sure you would see from auto-generated spam pages -- it was a description of the product: One of the first commercial applications to use Sun's Java Web Start technology.

Is there any way that deletion could be reversed or contested? The conditions under which it was selected for removal seem particularly capricious.

If you would like to write an article for this, I would suggest writing a draft in your userspace (something like User:Zkeifkaf/Sandbox) and asking another editor to review it before moving it to the mainspace. To clarify the article and ensure it is not confused with promotional material, I have added in an external reference to the Sun Microsystems 2004 Swing Sightings journal in which the software was first mentioned and will obtain additional materials to cite for relevant content over the coming week. Other article text was also adjusted to clarify the listing, with a sentence describing the software's functionality (which could possibly be construed as promotional) removed entirely.

Would those adjustments resolve your concerns about the entry's content?

The article was written like an advertisement or brochure. I would suggest working with User:Rkr1991, who posted a few sections above this one, to create a better article. Work in a sandbox, being sure to write from a neutral point of view and to use reliable sources. I was going to direct the user/s to the policy regarding shared accounts.

What basically happened was that the user/s tried to move the page User:Manderson.utsystem/Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning into the main space, for some reason, cluebot thought this was vandalism, and reverted it, something to do with redirects to non-existent pages (I have reported a false positive, I expect that the redirect was created, and then the page was moved, but between the two cluey tried to revert the move because the redirect was heading towards a (then) non-existent page.

Then I tried to undo cluebots revert of the move, but (stupidly) move the page to Manderson.utsystem/Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning instead of Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning. Then I realized that the page at Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning needed to be deleted before I could move to it, so move the page back to User:Manderson.utsystem/Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning in the meantime, then you came and moved Manderson.utsystem/Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (which was now just a redirect) to Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning over the redirect.

Yeh, so basically, if you could move User:Manderson.utsystem/Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning to Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning that would tidy the entire thing up.

Help

o.k, so I have been trying in vain to add a picture to an article i helped expand substantially. The article I am referring to is about the author Patrick French, and at the author's own request I have been trying to upload a picture made available by his publisher. You, and other extremely zealous administrators/editors, keep deleting the image apparently because I have an improper license. I don't see how. I have tried to figure this out, but its extremely confusing. So, here I am, hoping that you could perhaps tell me what I need to do to make sure you don't delete it on a whim. I would appreciate if you did not direct me to one of the Wikipedia pages on uploading images because they are full of jargon and beyond my comprehension. When you upload the image, you cannot say the image is for Wikipedia use only or for education use only. Images must be either free for anyone for use for anything or licensed under an acceptable fair use license. I took another look at the image and saw that it is a copyrighted work (this is why it was deleted). The Random House website indicates that the picture is copyrighted by the photographer. Koleko page should not have been deleted, you did not read my talk article

Hi there, I see you've done a lot of good stuff for wikipedia and know quite a bit about it, so hopefully we can work this out: the page had existed for less than a few minutes before it was deleted; this was not time for me to add further references, and the page was actually deleted as I wrote further information on the talk page, therefore you probably didn't read it. I recognise that I should have kept it in the sandbox longer but deleting so quickly just made it very difficult for me to write a good article -- I couldn't even do the talk page before it was deleted.

At the very least, please send me the content that you deleted so I can continue to work on it and add references, but it really can't be something you often do to kill a page before it has a proper talk entry. If you're concerned about why this topic should be covered on wikipedia, consider that there are many pages about popular cult musicians who wrote famous music, and that this article is especially worthy, as the artist notoriously goes uncredited for their original composing of the song "See the sun standing before me".

Koleko is almost entirely unknown on the internet and does not make much info available on his website, but he is significantly covered in relevant music press and other media(citations coming, dependent on time, hopefully others will contribute). There is also news which I was about to add, as a new EP is coming out soon according to the artist's myspace.

Thanks for trying to keep wiki clean but you deleted this article way too fast.

I'm sorry, but Wikipedia is not a place to host your content. There are several other websites around that will allow you to host a page for free. The one I have heard of the most is Tripod.com. DELETION of For the Cause STI Awareness Charity, Inc.

This page continues to be deleted although I make the suggested changes to it. The sad thing about it is that the first 2 times i added the "hangon" tag to the page so I could make the changes but admin deleted it in less than 5 minuets later. I came across this organization and was moved by the great work that it does in charlotte... for the HIV positive community. HIV/AIDS is in the top 4 of leading causes of death here in the US and the contributions of community based organizations NEED to be known. The knowings of this organization, as well as other organizations like it are just as important as knowing about Columbia University or any profession athletic team. These institutions are moving deprived communities by giving it's members the needed education and resources that can essencially SAVE THEIR LIVES.

Can you please explain why Wikipedia does not want viewers to know about these types of organizations? Or why it is more "encyclopedic" to know about an athletic team rather then a grass roots orgnization of volunteers who go out of their way to serve a cause; helping to saves lives? Considering all of his time he has spent on Wikipedia after the unblock with absolutely no action taken in changing his name, is there anything you can do to ensure this happens? I know my page is marked for deletion and I am adding some more information to prevent this... but...

SOUIT is new technology that is talked about in some web development circles. The technology is coming forth in much the same way that AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript And XML) came about in 2005. Several people were using it and finally it got more attention when it got a name.

So SOUIT, SOUI, SOFEA are all acronyms which mean the same thing. Please let's not destroy new information, I will add to the page as the information grows, but it has to start somewhere and currently it is only a tiny seed waiting to blossom.

Rocdigitizing

Hi Tnxman! Do you think you could protect User talk:Rocdigitizing or else change the block of the user so they can't edit their user talk page? They were blocked (by you - that's why I'm badgering you about it :-) ) for having a company name as user name; all they ever did before being blocked was to post adverts to their user talk page, and after the block in November they have been back a couple of times to add more advertising to their talk page. I have the page watchlisted so reverting is not a big problem, but there is no point in not preventing them from spamming, or at least I don't think there is. (How's that for multiple negations.)

Chow Sang Sang page (deleted)

Hi! I've created a page "Chow Sang Sang" and hope to add in more information on it as it is a famous jewellery retailer with long history in Hong Kong. But I found it deleted with the reason "G11. Unambiguous advertising or promotion". Just want to know if there's anything I can do, like how to edit it or which part needed to be edited etc, to retain the page? Your best bet is to read our info on writing your first article, how to write from a neutral point of view, and how to use reliable sources. After that, your best bet is to write a draft of the article in your userspace (something like User:Cathy Tam/Sandbox) and ask another editor to review it when you are done. deletion of the EuroNF page

Dear Tnxman307,

I see that you have considered that the EuroNF page which I tried to publish was inadequate for some reasons. I am indeed no expert on wikipedia etiquette, and I just tried aligning to similar material from other Networks of Excellence descriptions (see e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Future_of_Identity_in_the_Information_Society) which were considered as adequate.

what did I miss? where did I do wrong?

I would welcome any help from you: EuroNF is indeed a recognized NoE, and I do not understand why explaining what it does is a problem. And before going into the pain of writing new material (and believe me, it is indeed a pain when you are no expert....) I would like to clarify whatever was initially wrong.

Also, I do wonder why Wikipedia did not send me any warning before discarding the material. Or did I miss it? was it sent by a pigeon which was shot before reaching me?

I think you are being overzealous, and I do not see how such could be construed as advertising in any reasonable definition of the word as nothing is being sold and the page is written solely for accessibility and for informational purposes, particularly for other research scientists participating in conferences like the recent UN Conference on Climate Change. Furthermore, while I appreciate the possibility of conflicts of interest, I must reiterate that we are not a commercial institution nor is this in any way a controversial matter upon which we are campaigning, nor have you shown that I have attempted to advance the particular interests of KEI over the informational purposes of Wikipedia in providing general information on research institutions in environmental science (particularly to other scientists or to those with an interest in Korea or in the Asia region). Do you work for the institution (or are you otherwise affiliated with them)? Then, by definition, you have a conflict of interest with the subject. If you would still like to write something, I would suggest writing it in a sandbox first and asking another editor to review the article before moving it to the mainspace. You are certainly free to maintain that opinion, although I do not agree that it is tenable. If "by definition" no one affiliated with an institution (and again, "by definition" the most knowledgeable on the subject in question), is a priori prohibited from making a good faith contribution to Wikipedia, there would be very little content to put up here. Such guidelines are to be interpreted flexibly in accordance with the spirit, rather than the letter of the law; surely I shouldn't need to remind you that Wikipedia is not a bureaucracy. You appear to have a misapprehension of what actually constitutes a genuine "conflict of interest," as "I" am not a lobbyist or PR person, "we" are a scientific institution, and not a lobby or PR firm, and "we" are not a commercial entity, as I have reiterated repeatedly (and which a reasonable person might understand as being of greater semantic significance than choice of pronoun).

The information I have attempted to upload here was written in good faith to provide information to other English speaking parties interested in environmental science, and not for the purposes of political campaigning or commerce (instances which would constitute an actual conflict of interest), or any other motive contrary to the purposes of a free encyclopedia. Sock question at Smithers, British Columbia

Weird stuff going on at Smithers, British Columbia, and I'd like some clarification if you don't mind. A while back, an editor who was throwing out anti-Semetic rants blanked a section on the Jewish community in Smithers. This editor, SMRyaacresitaenr (talk · contribs), was blocked for vandalism, then you tagged him as a sockpuppet of Webley455 (talk · contribs). I don't doubt he was a sock, but I'm not at all familiar with the original sockmaster, who doesn't appear to have ever been blocked or even warned.

Two more SPAs showed up tonight at the article (which has very few editors, it seems), the editors were 911WasAnInsideJew (talk · contribs) and Mozzul-San (talk · contribs) (which was actually what SMRyanwhatever changed his home page to read [5]). They both appear to be disruptive SPAs, but then Webley455 showed up again and reblanked the setion as a hoax (right after another account added sources).

I'm a bit confused about the whole matter, so I thought I'd come to you and see if since you initially tagged this as coming from Webley455, you could figure out what's going on. I was sure the two SPAs were SMRyanwhatever, but if he's also Webley (who isn't blocked), should they be blocked?

Don't take administration/moderation too seriously. Me and my friend had a religion called Litratarianism where we believe most books hold the answers and truth. exploration summer programs

hi, i saw that you deleted the exploration summer programs page for 'unambiguous advertising'.

i was working on that page last week, trying to get it to conform to wikipedia standards (ie, make it sound less like an advertisement). i first tried citing sources. then i removed entire sections that felt too much like marketing speak. when i looked for the page today, i saw that it had been deleted.

can you explain what specifically on the page fell outside the wikipedia community standards? is there a way to undo its deletion or access what had been posted on the page?

Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/BlackJack/Archive

Hi Tnxman307, there's is currently a discussion at WT:CRIC relating to the above case. As the blocking admin, it would be useful to have your input. Although the CU confirmed that the accounts used the same IP(s), I for one am not entirely convinced that the use of the accounts conflicts with WP:ILLEGIT and I think this may be because the IP filing the case misrepresented the situtation. For example I looked at the actions of Orrelly Man mentioned in the case and could find nothing abusive or disruptive and have explained as much at WT:CRIC. After reviewing the SPI case, it was clear that BlackJack had used alternate accounts disingenuously. However, I also reviewed the comments at the Cricket Wikiproject and consensus seems to be that the block could be shortened and the case was not presented to BlackJack the way it should have been. Hmm, well considering that the BlackJack account was being harrassed by IPs (as explained here), transferring to the Orrell Man account would seem to fit with WP:SOCK#LEGIT. However, I have only examined the incidents mentioned in the case and am not really sure about the Douglas Mortimer account (although judging from the recent date of creation I'd suggest it was because both the Orrelly Man and BlackJack accounts had become comprimised to the person following BJ around). If the incidents metioned are the worst there is, the person operating the accounts was editing productively. Thanks for the reply, I'll leave a note on WT:CRIC. Shortening the block doesn't really make sense - it implies the block is punitive, rather than preventing disruption. Abusive sockers are indeffed to prevent their abusive disruption. I apologize - when I said "altering the block", I should have clarified. Any alteration to the block (lifting entirely, shortening, etc.) is OK. As you point out, alternate accounts are allowed. However, according to WP:SOCK#LEGIT, they must be clearly marked as such. If, as Nev1 mentions, the user was being stalked by an IP, starting a new account is OK. However, the old account should be abandoned, per WP:CLEANSTART (the SPI page points several instances where both accounts edited at the same time). As I wrote here some of the facts have been misrepresented by the WT:CRIC members. It wasn't just a case of voting in some AFDs, BlackJack in his own words used the Orrelly Man account to "flush out" somebody he was in a dispute with. Secondly there's no evidence of harassment prior to the creation of the Orrelly Man account. Thirdly Orrelly Man posted [6] [7] to suggest he wasn't BlackJack. Fourthly he misused clean start by repeatedly switching between the BlackJack and his socks. On the subject of "flushing out", the reference to the Bedle review in the WT:CRIC post makes clear that the editor who wrote the above is either or both of User:Derek.cashman and User:Eustress. If you go back to the Bedle review you will see clear interactivity between these two with proven abusive use of an IP address by Eustress. I submit that the IP address which instigated the BJ sockpuppet investigation, and the one which supported it, is Eustress/Cashman again. See this page in December 2008 and follow the links including the report on WP:ANI.

This is malpractice of the worst kind and Wikipedia has effectively acted as an accessory in it by failing to implement its stated procedure, which incorporates giving the accused user a chance to defend himself, a key aspect of any modern legal system. This is not forgetting the hypocrisy of a "sockpuppet" being able to denounce a "sockpuppet" and get away with it. As for his assertion above that there was no harrassment before OM began, see the User:Richard Daft stuff which includes actual defamation that can still be found on the site.

No I'm not either of those people, as far as I can make out both live in America and my IP address is from the UK. Another correction, you can't by definition support a SPI.

To quote the WP:SPI page (emphasis added): "After submitting a case, consider notifying the suspected accounts by adding {{subst:socksuspectnotice|PUPPETMASTER}} ~~~~ to the bottom of their talk pages. Notification is not mandatory, and may, in some instances, lead to further disruption or provide a sockpuppeteer with guidance on how to avoid detection." Given your temperamental nature and the strong likelihood that you'd go crying to WT:CRIC, I thought the SPI would be less disrupted if you weren't informed.

The 'harassment' from Richard Daft stopped in January 2008 so why was the Orrelly Man account created in January 2009? The answer has nothing to do with harassment, it was purely down to the fact you didn't dare show your face after the hissy you threw over the failed GAN.

I am at a loss to understand how you can let something that is not factual remain on Wikipedia as pertaining to the section of the sentence after the comma, below. The Wooroloo team went through the season undefeated, although with some complaints for rough play and intimidation of the opposition. From the sentence above the portion, although with some complaints for rough play and intimidation of the opposition, is a subjective observation made by the person who edited the Wikipedia article and is derived from anonymously sent general public e mails to the referred opinion based website. I therefore ask you how those personal opinions placed anonymously by the general public can be deemed by you as a reliable source. What is factual is that no concerns were received by the club or its governing body. Only one footballer sought medical treatment after the game and that was due to being bumped into by his own team mate. The Association at no time received any form of complaint from either its members or any one from the general public over any matter regarding that portion of the sentence under question or the covering article. Browsing through Wikipedia and looking at other like sporting associations nowhere did I see any negative connotations towards those organisations even though historically and factually there have been instances of notoriety. I will leave it to you to make a balanced, objective decision on removing the second portion of the sentence in question. Deletion of Conniption (band)

You recently deleted an article I wrote about a SIGNED band called "Conniption" under the German label "Rock It Up Records" (http://www.rockitup.org). I also put about 10 references proving they are making quite a name for themselves in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, and even around the world.

This took a lot of my time, and I would appreciate it to be put back up. Maybe the article should be put under Conniption (band) or something, but I believe they are known in this area at least, to have a wikipedia page. Please consider this.

It has been reviewed on sites like the How-To Geek (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/the-geek-blog/musicbee-is-a-fast-and-powerful-music-manager/) and MakeTechEasier (http://maketecheasier.com/musicbee-a-swiss-army-knife-media-manager-for-your-music-collections/2009/12/30). Not sure about the latter, but the former is definitely a notable site. Also, it's available for download on CNETDownload (http://download.cnet.com/MusicBee/3000-2141_4-11146933.html?tag=bc) and fileforum.betanews.com (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/MusicBee/1232891666/1), as well, obviously, as the main site. I would argue that these four sites, especially How-To Geek and CNETDownload, would make this software notable. If not, please explain what else would need to be done to make sure this page does not get deleted.

The two download sites aren't really reliable sources. Simply being available to download doesn't mean the software is any more or less notable. The other sites are a start, but don't really provide significant coverage. Finally, the entire article reads like an advertisement for the software and probably needs to be completely re-written. Thanks for the speedy response! I was looking it over and, for comparison, I saw Songbird, and although it's also marked up for cleanup efforts, I can definitely see the difference between this one and Songbird. So, probably a list of features would be better (instead of explaining every detail), and I'll see if I can find more notable review sites than those two. If I cannot find well known sites, but I clean up the article, will Musicbee still be eligible for deletion?

It depends. Anyone can remove the {{prod}} template at the top of the article if they feel the article is no longer eligible for deletion. However, if it is removed and there are still significant issues, someone may bring the article to the wider community to determine whether the consensus is to keep it or delete it (these discussions can be found at this page). Vinyl Morpher

Hi I am trying to set up a page for Vinyl Morpher (Internet Radio Station). The first page I put up was deleted due to Copyright Infringement. I fully understand this, but I had permission to do so from Dave Marley (Owner of Morpher Radio and its website). I have since spoken to Dave again and he is willing to fill out a consent form. I have now re worded the article in my own words and will repost again tonight (Saturday 6th Feb). If the page gets deleted again I will get a consent form submit to yourselves.

I'm sorry, but the new page was very much advertising for the station (and also did not have any independent reliable sources) listed. Please read our info on writing your first article and how to write from a neutral point of view. You may also want to write a draft in your userspace and ask another editor to review it for you. MusicBee article

Hello,

May I know what do you have against MusicBee? Today I decided to improve it and I found that the page content was removed! I cannot make a perfect article for few days, I'll need some time. So, please, undo your changes and give me (and other people from the MisicBee community) improve the article. MusicBee is really great software with a big potential. BTW, the page is not much worse than, say, Media Monkey. So, why there is a different criteria?

P.S. I'm not the MusicBee developer, you can check the forum.

The page has no independent third-party reliable sources to indicate why it is notable enough to warrant an article. Material that is unsourced is removed from articles. Wikipedia is not really a place to advertise for MusicBee. TN X Man 16:27, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

There was a request from the MusicBee community for such article, because "Wiki is the Bible" (citation). So, I've started the article. This is not advertisement. The goal of MusicBee is to be alternative to both Foobar2000 and iTunes, and these are notable programs, don't you think so?

Please note that the existence or state of one article has no effect on another article (iTunes may be a notable program, but that has nothing to do with MusicBee). Actually, you don't have to undo the changes. Just re-add the material a bit at a time, citing reliable sources as you go. The information about the features is taken from the homepage and the program itself, is this reliable enough? Dana Reason festival list

Hi Tnxman- In regard to your deletion of all the festivals that lacked a linked article; wouldn't deleting these articles detract from Wiki's goal of interconnecting articles? Yes, the links are dead right now, but it seems to me that wikipedia's stated desire for writers to add links whenever they mention specific items supports that the redlinks will eventually become active when an article is written about that item. Even that they might inspire a reader to write the article themselves, thus increasing the abundance of, and access to, the contents of Wikipedia. So, I ask that the redlinks be allowed to remain, enticing others to write about them in the future. As I mentioned last month, I believe that wikipedia is not quite at the point where if an article hasn't yet been written on a subject, it must not be relevant. Maybe in a few years. Well, there appears to be alot more random vandalism than helpful edits from unknown IPs. I would say every 7-14 days, someone from a random IP vandalizes the site. Only a few days ago, someone from a random IP did a Flood of vandalism ruining the page. I had to revert to an older edition of the page just to fix it. Please reconsider. That's not really enough to warrant semi-protection, especially if there are IPs adding good information. I'm hesitant to protect if it will scare off good anonymous editors. TN X Man 19:31, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I understand; the choice is up to you. But there is one minor thing you should be aware of. I'm not saying all, but many of those random IP contributions were made by me. I have a rotating IP address and sometimes I forget to sign in. I'm taking a farely accurate guess by saying the following, but of which I feel is true. Probably 60%-80% of edits made by random IPs to this page are vandalism. And I just checked this myself; in the last 12 days, there have been about 6 acts of vandalism not including the flood from 70.176.87.110 That works out to an act of vandalism every 2 days. I am at a loss to understand how you can let something that is not factual remain on Wikipedia as pertaining to the section of the sentence after the comma, below. The Wooroloo team went through the season undefeated, although with some complaints for rough play and intimidation of the opposition. From the sentence above the portion, although with some complaints for rough play and intimidation of the opposition, is a subjective observation made by the person who edited the Wikipedia article and is derived from anonymously sent general public e mails to the referred opinion based website. I therefore ask you how those personal opinions placed anonymously by the general public can be deemed by you as a reliable source. What is factual is that no concerns were received by the club or its governing body. Only one footballer sought medical treatment after the game and that was due to being bumped into by his own team mate. The Association at no time received any form of complaint from either its members or any one from the general public over any matter regarding that portion of the sentence under question or the covering article. Browsing through Wikipedia and looking at other like sporting associations nowhere did I see any negative connotations towards those organisations even though historically and factually there have been instances of notoriety. I will leave it to you to make a balanced, objective decision on removing the second portion of the sentence in question by looking at what has been replied for others:- This section is puffery and salacious. Pages that disparage or threaten their subject or some other entity, and serve no other purpose. These "attack pages" may include slander, legal threats, and biographical material about a living person that is entirely negative in tone and unsourced.
