- As far as what is necessary in an article it varies depending on what type of article you want to write. I see you work mostly in fiction just like me so I'll cover that first, if you have a specific article in mind that you want advice on then let me know which one. A fiction article should cover the work of fiction or an element of a work of fiction from an out of universe perspective. This means that it should focus more on how it affects our universe not the role within the fictional universe. Some good material includes developement information: How was the show/character conceived of, what did the writers do to bring their point across, how did they decide what actor would play the part, where was it filmed, did they use any special techniques. There should also be impact and reception information: What did critics have to say about it? How has this made a lasting impact on our society? Did it receive any awards? There should be information on the plot but the article should not be all about the plot to the point of becoming unbalanced. The guideline on how much of the article should be plot and what else should be included is somewhat disputed right now but people on both sides seem to agree that the only way to write a really good article is to include information found in reliable third party sources. Some further reading, if you'd like would be WP:RS, a guideline on reliable sources and WP:V the verifiability policy along with WP:NOR, the No Original Research Policy, these apply to all articles. For fiction try reading WP:WAF(Wikipedia, Writing about fiction) and the heavily disputed guideline Wikipedia: Notability (fiction). It's a lot to read but you can take it slowly, everybody is new at one point and people will forgive you for making newby mistakes, just try to take any advice they give you.
- For marking edits as minor, if you think there's any chance your edit could be controversial to anyone then don't mark it as minor. I usually only mark edits as minor if they are a spelling fix or a typo or if it is simple formatting (italics, quotation marks or bolding). If you add or remove anything significant it isn't minor. Some people think simple vandalism reverts (like reverting someone who replaced the page with "Person X is a jerk") can be marked minor but that's at your discretion. I think what you want to do is create a piped link (Wikipedia:Piped link). In the Breakfast Club example you would change the wiki-code to say [[The Breakfast Club|the 80's movie of the same name]]. The information on the left hand side of the pipe will be the link and the information on the right hand side will be what appears in the article so it shows up as the 80's movie of the same name. There are a few other tricks you can learn with piping links too but you'll figure them out as you go along. Just make sure you don't create "surprise links" or "easrter egss" like linking to an article that some people might find inappropriate in what appears to be a totally unrelated topic.
