Template:County Longford[edit]

Why are you demoting towns to villages in Template:County Longford? The articles about those places state that they are towns. The size of a town has no influence on the town-status. The Banner talk 12:04, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Refs/HIJACK[edit]

Hi. Per WP:HIJACK, if updating content you should please update the ref which supports that content. The 2016 census record doesn't contain or support 2022 census data. Notwithstanding WP:BURDEN, I have updated the data and ref for Tarmonbarry.

(Also, as an aside and per above, the typical determination/differentiation between a "town" and "village" is the status applied by the local authority. Typically in the "settlement hierarchy" section of the applicable county dev plan. Each of which applies a considered/defined/details methodology. Rather than an "arbitrary" population number. Or personal opinion. In the Longford Co Co "County Development Plan 2021-2027", Longford town is classified as a "Key Town". Granard as a "Self-Sustaining Growth Town". And Ballymahon, Edgeworthstown and Lanesborough as "Self-Sustaining Towns". Unilaterally reclassifying Edgeworthstown (a town of well over 2,000 people), as a "village" is not representative of the sources, the convention, or - frankly - reason.)

You edit was unsourced. You only changed the year and number. You did not give a new source for the new data. The Banner talk 00:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
