I discovered this morning that this ANI had been unexpectedly closed. Reading through it again, I see that at no time did you identify yourself as an admin - as far as I knew you were just another contributor to the discussion - and at no time did you state that you planned to close the discussion imminently, nor did you make clear that you were waiting for for me to respond. Of course I didn't respond - how would I know I needed to? Colonies Chris (talk) 09:59, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
- I did in fact state that I was an admin; perhaps I should have been clearer than in an edit summary ("Admin hat on"), but I assumed that was something along the lines of WP:BLUE (and I don't belive that I have ever seen someone "identify themselves as an admin" in a discussion in the manner suggested). Furthermore, a notice of intent to close is not necessary; and you know you need to respond by people posting in the thread. I'm sorry it didn't end in the way that you might have desired, but there was a very clear community consensus. - The Bushranger One ping only 10:05, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
- This is outrageous. So you think the fact that you are an admin is as obvious as the fact that the sky is blue? Sorry, but I haven't memorised the list of admins - or are you just so important that I ought to know who you are without being told? Why would I be looking at the edit summary on a comment of yours? I just read the actual comment. And I have replied to several comments on that thread, and would have responded to you if your intention had been made clear - at no time did you make clear what you were proposing, nor on what timescale. Don't hide behind 'legal' quibbling - "a notice of intent to close is not necessary". Well maybe there's nothing in the rules to say that, but it's commmon decency and fairness to make clear your role, your conclusions and intentions, and allow time for a response. Colonies Chris (talk) 16:54, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
- No, I'm not that important, and I don't think that; I assumed that in a series of postings on the Admin's noticeboard you would likely have noticed that I had been acting in an admin capacity elsewhere, I was mistaken, and I apologise for that. However, I assumed that you would be monitoring an AN/I thread about yourself, and waited 48 hours to give a chance to respond, when I could have immedately closed it at the time of my initial posting - there was no obligation, with a clear consensus, to allow it to continue at that point. When closing an ANI discussion there is no requirement to "allow time for a response" - I did so as a courtesy, again assuming that you were actively monitoring an ANI thread about your behavior. - The Bushranger One ping only 21:06, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

For the record...
...the thread at ANI has nothing to do with infoboxes, but everything to do with a known antagonist flirting within the boundaries of WP:CLOSE, which is disruptive. Still, never let a small matter like "the truth" get in the way of stirring the pot. CassiantoTalk 21:46, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
- It wasn't stirring the pot, it was just an observation that the underlying root discussion is something I literally can't comprehend. Apologise if it came across otherwise. - The Bushranger One ping only 22:59, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
- It was a flawed observation. The sceptic in me would say that it was designed to shift the emphasis onto another subject rather than answer the real reason why the thread was started, but I'll AGF. I see another troublemaker has rocked up and is enabling the behaviour on Grant's talk page, so I've removed the article from my watchlist. You lot can butt heads if you wish, but I have better things to do with my time, quite frankly. CassiantoTalk 00:03, 13 December 2017 (UTC)
Merge/AfD ?s
I noticed your entry here and am curious "about their sending to AfD a page they had merged content from, and how you don't do that". Could you elaborate please? Maybe expand a bit on the circumstances and related WP:P&G. The passage caught my eye and struck me as a learning opportunity. ––A Fellow Editor– 19:53, 13 December 2017 (UTC)
- Basically, once you merge content from a page to another page? The original page has to remain, at least as a redirect, to preseve the attribution history of the people who contributed to the merged content, as required under Wikipedia's licensing. Technically, if the original page is deleted, it makes the merged content sort-of-kind-of-technically a copyright violation, or at least something mightily frowned at. So a page that has been merged can't be deleted. - The Bushranger One ping only 22:31, 13 December 2017 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. The 'article' goes away but the 'page' remains. Thanks, ––A Fellow Editor– 00:14, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
- Exactly, the history remains visible 'behind' the redirect. - The Bushranger One ping only 00:16, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

IP edit warring on Boeing 737 MAX
BR, could you look into semi-protection for Boeing 737 MAX for a few days? A dynamic IP has been edit warring against consensus. Although they are using the talk page, their idea of "discussion" is to justify their reverts and then revert again, along with some juvenile parroting of Marc's comments/advice. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 21:25, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
- Given the debate on that, I've decided to full protect it for three days, so everything can be hashed out on the talk page, and hopefully the IP can be educated about WP:OR. - The Bushranger One ping only 23:10, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks somehow, Bushranger. What do you mean with WP:OR? I did not present any, but see this specific aviationweek-article as opinion or rough calculation, as any details are missing including if the base was the old or new A321neo cabin. See talk.
- @Bilcat: "juvenile parroting": I was mirroring arrogant talk and comments, including yours. Can you see that your words can be seen as deprecative and again - as it again fits - mirroring you as juvenile?
- @Bushranger: Sorry for the Bilcat comment on your talk page, i did not start this aggression, but i do not like to be called like that. Peace? 87.150.114.89 (talk) 00:41, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Edit on Samuel fields
Did i make a mistake while i was undoing a edit?Thegooduser talk 02:54, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Thegooduser: No, you didn't; this edit was the dubious one, and since there had been edits since then a simple undo wouldn't work, so I just selected the last revision prior to that that hadn't had to have been reverted for one reason or another. Yours was still good. - The Bushranger One ping only 02:57, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

permission active for create article
hello, iam a new user in Wikipedia i want to created an about an new show the show will aired from ZEE TV show name : Aapke Aa Jaane Se please sir invited me on Teahouse because i want to create this thank You.
- You don't need permission to create articles. As long as you have made a small number of edits, enough for us to be sure you're not some sort of bot, you're allowed to do so, provided that your article's content is verifiable through reliable sources and is written neutrally on a notable subject. Good luck! - The Bushranger One ping only 22:16, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

MTA Bus Recent protection
Is there a way to instead of completely protecting the MTA site to semi protect because the Edit war was with an unknown user without a talk page. Other registered users have had a problem with it. So can you, being an admin, revert it back to my version. Olsen24 (talk) 23:24, 17 December 2017 (UTC)
- No, because over the last few days you and other editors have been furiously reverting each other, and your conduct has been the subject of multiple threads at AN/I that you have been notified of but, as far as I can tell, never reacted to. All of you are going to have to WP:DISCUSS with other editors to gain WP:CONSENSUS on the content dispute at the article talk page; meanwhile the page is going to have to remain at WP:THEWRONGVERSION. - The Bushranger One ping only 23:28, 17 December 2017 (UTC)
Some of those disputes to my knowledge have been resolved with the use of user talk pages, which this being an ip, doesn't have a user talk page to utilize. with that being said, other users have reverted this edit as well as me, just not as much and as rapidly. Also some of the stuff i was reverting was outright false and needed to be removed and/or changed. Olsen24 (talk) 23:31, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

As you will have seen from looking at the page history before making the move, there is no consensus for the title you have chosen. Please revert yourself. If you still want to make a move then propose it in the proper way and seek to gain consensus. DuncanHill (talk) 22:55, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
- There is also no consensus for the page at its current title which is the only article in its parent cat to use the awkward format it was at. However, if you insist. - The Bushranger One ping only 22:57, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
- Yes I do. You ignored clear evidence that the title you prefer was disputed. And there's nothing awkward about the title as it was. Read WP:EngVar too while you're at it. DuncanHill (talk) 23:01, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
- I'm well aware of ENGVAR; I'm also aware of World War II not Second World War. Either way though, this should be at RM, you're right, so I'm working on that. - The Bushranger One ping only 23:02, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
- Can you fix the talk page too? You've left it as a redirect to itself. DuncanHill (talk) 23:04, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah, I was just scratching my head trying to figure out how on earth that happened, since I moved the page (from the original typo'd move, whoops) to its proper title, and it redirected itself. I think it's all good now though. - The Bushranger One ping only 23:06, 18 December 2017 (UTC)

Food irradiation Guy
Thank you for responding (the admin Incidents talk page is now blocked to me as well so I can't discuss there), this is the first time anyone responded to what I said. Everything you said is correct, but you have a few of the facts wrong on this case.
- More than one party was against the changes, only one party was for the changes (Guy).
- Guy was not telling the truth when he said RSN had unambiguous consensus (although that might be just a rose colored glasses thing).
- He omitted the full nature of his change, and that the content was actually cited by a credible source (other than organic consumers) when he explained his case at RSN
- He started an edit war with two different parties
- He failed to assume good faith when he assumed i was neo freedom
- He failed to assume good faith when he called me a nut job
- he failed to assume good faith when he reverted the content without reading any of the comments on the talk page.
On another note content is indeed deleted and deleted by different people, but each time it is because of specific reasons that don't have to do with the encyclopedic content or completeness of the article. When this happens on articles i help with (we are down to 3 articles) i do my best to correct if it can be corrected (if someone has not already done it already). For instance someone will delete something for a lack of citation, so I will find a good one if it exists, often times a proper citation will be found existing in the article as some changes orphen lines of text. These people often edit hundreds of articles a day looking for a common theme or policy, because of the breadth of there changes they don't have time to do a good job and fix things, instead they just delete.
In over 10 years I have only gotten involved in 3 edit wars. One was in the beginning when i was learning, but 2 have been in the last 3 months, and I am less active than ever. Later it was found that the second one was a sock puppet for a known vandal who had me reported to the Incidents board. The other was this one, where i started my editing with every courtesy, following every policy and ended up being abused mischaracterized or ignored at every turn (except by Red Rock Canyon who changed his mind after me informing him and built the consensus). I probably will give up editing soon. Hopefully someone can take over these articles.
One last note. If you notice how often Guy brings people onto the Incidents page one might think that his approach might be just a little off. We can only judge people by what they do. 2602:304:415C:56C9:9114:F9E0:AF84:43F5 (talk) 19:49, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

User continuing to cast aspersions
Hello
I have a complaint about someone I believe I need to talk to you about it first, as the acting admin.
Please allow me to refresh your memory first. In WP:ANI, one François Robere committed the act of casting aspersions (revision 816027144), by leveling inappropriate canvassing accusations, with his evidence being just another person who had cast the same aspersions and got blocked for it! Your reaction was that he should apologize. (Revision 816045217.) He seemingly did. (Revision 816151631.) And yet, 4 hours later, he is repeating the same, via the phrase "partners in crime". (revision 816187327.)
I am not unfamiliar with such aspersions. Back in 2014, a User:Matthiaspaul accused me of having engaged in meatpuppetry in a discussion in which I was not even present. That, however, doesn't mean these aspersions are not dangerous or don't hurt. I've even written a satirical piece of this recently-widespread phenomenon.
My question is: What must I do about it? I can't go to ANI, becaue ANI itself is involved. Or can I?
Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 06:25, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
- This is something that should be addressed at ANI, under the relevant thread. "ANI itself" isn't involved; it's related, but the board itself is not. If this is related to the canvassing accuation, it should be addressed there. - The Bushranger One ping only 06:27, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks. Should I open a whole new report, or just a subtopic? —Codename Lisa (talk) 06:28, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
- Probably a subtopic, so it doesn't get disconnected from the original issue, I'd say. - The Bushranger One ping only 06:29, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
- Or... I do nothing and let the editors cool down. Hmm... Maybe not playing the game of "block the opposing editor" is the mature thing to do. And what's the worst thing that could happen? They change one "See also" link! Well... Am I being an idiot now?
- Best regards,

MTA Regional Bus Operations bus fleet
Your protection on MTA Regional Bus Operations bus fleet has expired, there has not been any discussion on the talk page, and the user in question (Olsen24) has once again begun editing the page while being dormant during the protection period. What do you want to do here? Block or take it back to ANI? – Train2104 (t • c) 03:37, 25 December 2017 (UTC)
- Assuming my ping at the article talk page doesn't get him to engage, I'd say try once more at ANI - the fact that he sat out without discussion and then all but immediately resumed his previous activity upon the expiry of the protection looks a lot like disrupting Wikipedia to make a point, but IMHO it'd be preferable to have another admin take a look (if none do, though, I'll keep an eye on it). - The Bushranger One ping only 03:40, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

Undiscussed page moves
BR, can look at User:100% Reporter's move history? He just moved Leonardo S.p.A. to Leonardo (company). While probably the right move, his vague explanation ("As the rules of Wikipedia") leaves me unsure that he really understands WP move policies and guidelines. He has some other odd and questionable moves in his history, all undiscussed, that leave me doubting. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 09:38, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
- Mm, I think he's "Just Right Enough" that there isn't anything reportable, but he probably needs to be watched. Also, that most recent one is actually the one he's most wrong about, per WP:NATURAL and WP:NCCORP! - The Bushranger One ping only 10:02, 27 December 2017 (UTC)

Olsen24 is now modifying my messages on the article's talk page to serve their aims (i.e, using their inferior-quality pictures in the article); see their first change and them repeating the edit after my revert. A DUCK on WP:DUCK!
See this edit on WP:DUCK by a probable sock of Hoggardhigh. I wonder if he's doing it on purpose, or is just oblivious. I guess we'll never know. Btw, there's an existing SPI report on several IP on the SPI page, so I'm not sure how to use Twinkle to add to it, or if I should add a new report after the existing one. - What you need to do is to improve it in your userspace, then, instead of simply moving it back, go to WP:DRV and propose the restoration of the page to an improved version, so it can be established by the community that it satisfies WP:N and WP:RS before going back into articlespace. - The Bushranger One ping only 03:27, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

- Actually, redirects can be categorised; it's still in all of the categories placed on it. Hi Bushranger! I've been a user for coming on two years now, but I had never had a DYK nomination be pushed for one of my pages. I just wanted to say thanks for that nomination on Chad Finchum as well as for protecting Mike Senica, statistically the performance just isn't there and getting parked for being too slow is in no way "impressive". It's nice to have a fearless protector of the NASCAR community who will stand up to IP vandals! (P. S. If you haven't read Senica's Racing Reference comments it's a great pendulum from hate to love and back...) So yeah, just wanted to tell you that you're great. Willsome429 (talk) 02:56, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you! It's good to have people who are writing about the topic. And I've been watching Senica's page since back when it was first (prooooobably COI-)created, it's been 'interesting' to follow the pattern of throwaway accounts and IPs there... - The Bushranger One ping only 03:25, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

Arab Dance and Belly Dance pages
Hello Admin, The Bushranger;
Thanks a lot for your help Sir and for informing me that when a new page is created with many accurate data lacking we should fix it rather than asking for page deletion. I took your advice sir in the Talk Page and started putting information with every reliable source.
Then Suddenly the creator (User:Sarah Canbel) stopped and at same time right after the Talk Page discussion (User:Swazzo) started reverting every single edit with no respect to discussion made then posted on my wall an 'Edit War threat' though he was the one systematically removing sourced information since 3 days, not me. Whenever i add a source and information, he kept removing them, as if editing is not allowed and one of his edits said that page should be like User:SarahCanbel edits only?.
Also on the page of Belly dance when i then put the historical name of Egyptian Dance in the page, sourcing it with a very reliable source as the Independent[1] he kept removing the source and name. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia where everything should be accurate, the name is literally used as a Dancing Course in endless schools worldwide, students go and register for Egyptian Belly Dance.
Thank You again and your advises will be much appreciated. Marina Towadros (talk) 19:49, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

- I'm glad that I was able to help. The thing to do in those cases, is to go to the talk page and lay out your concerns; the golden rule is, whenever possible in those cases, even though it's horrendously frustrating, to 'focus on content, not contributors'; lay out the edits you wish to make, with the sources that back them, and let a discussion take place to form consensus for their inclusion, based on the policies of neutrality, verifiability, balance, and not being considered a fringe view. Once this is done, if the proposed changes gain consensus, that's all good; otherwise, the next step, if you're unsatisfied with the result, would be dispute resolution. Unfortunatly there's a lot to learn with editing Wikipedia, and sometimes the wiki-jargon can come across as obtuse or even combative to a newcomer, but if you calmly lay out a case that is backed with verifiable facts, you can make a difference and a good mark here. - The Bushranger One ping only 20:45, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

HMRS
Hallo, Thanks for your help with Historical Model Railway Society. Although they include the 1950 in their logo their "History" section is pretty feeble and doesn't offer any details, so it's great to find someone who has book sources. Yesterday was one of those editing sessions which started when husband commented that he'd got "C. Hamilton Ellis"'s book listed under "H" not "E" in his list of "railway books to perhaps buy some day" (at which I sneaked a look before ordering that one for Christmas for him, from AbeBooks), though the cover said plain "Hamilton Ellis". It became clear that the hyphenated name at which the article was created was wrong, and I moved the article and added umpteen redirects from variations. I found his obituary in The Times (after a shorter death notice which produced a nickname), which mentioned the HMRS - so I created a redlink for it ... and couldn't resist digging around to find enough info to turn it blue. Thus another afternoon goes down the sink of Wikipedia editing - fun, though! Wishing you a Happy New Year, and a year of interesting editing. PamD 10:26, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
- I know that feeling very well, I've lost count of the times I've gone "hm, this looks interesting-" and the next thing I know I've banged out 2000 words on an aircraft or rocket. I'm glad I was able to help! Happy New Year. - The Bushranger One ping only 11:02, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

AFD
can you explain what you said about speedy close and redirect at the AFD? I mean, doesn't the AFD and a redirect do the same thing? Elektricity (talk) 05:20, 2 January 2018 (UTC)
- AfD is articles for Deletion, and you specifically said you wanted the article deleted after having merged it. Mergers would be discussed at WP:PM, and if content has been merged to another article (either through Proposed Mergers or boldly done) from the article in question, it must be maintained as a redirect in order to preserve the contribution history and attribution as is required by Wikipedia's licensing. - The Bushranger One ping only 18:57, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

Soft deletion
Good evening! I noticed in a couple AFDs that rather than relist them, you could have closed as a soft delete. Basically like an uncontested PROD. Unless perhaps you knew that and caught something I didn't, in which case I apologize. Best wishes. Killiondude (talk) 05:45, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

This is for all the terrific hooks you keep coming up with for all the aviation and fighter planes articles that you create. It's hard not to keep slotting them into the lead slot for all the great images you supply as well. Thanks for making our job building DYK prep sets so much easier! National Championship POV vandalism
BR, could you consider semi-protection for College Football Playoff and 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship? Obviously this is controversial, but the articles cover the UCF claims already, and any changes to listing UCF instead of UA as the champion need a consensus. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 03:10, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

- Thanks. Believe me, as a UGA fan, I'd personally rather see UCF named the national champion this year! Objectively, UCF plays in Division 1 FBS, which means the CFP determined the national champion for the FBS. That means AL is the national champion, as much as it sticks in my craw to admit it. Ah, the State of Georgia curse! - BilCat (talk) 08:50, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
- I've always eyed the CFP with a gimlet eye from the get-go, really. Acting as if there is a stone tablet carried down from Mount Sinai that says thou shalt have a playoff in every sport to the point of getting Congress threatening to take action was just ridiculous... - The Bushranger One ping only 09:16, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

- I actually like the CFP, even when my team loses. If the playoffs are good enough for the FCS (Div I-AA to us old-timers), why not the FBS? I've been a supporter of the Plus-One system idea from way before the BCS came about. I think 8 teams is probably too much in the current season set up, but it'll probably happen eventually, given media favorites like Ohio State getting left out too often. - BilCat (talk) 09:35, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

It is a content concern, not a behavioral concern, thus outside the ability of any admin to change. WP:IP addresses are not people is worth a read. Can you please help me understand why the page was deleted and how I can go about fixing the page to have it restored?
Many thanks edwinahelen — Preceding unsigned comment added by Edwinahelen (talk • contribs) 23:11, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
- It was deleted because the page was hijacked, changing a Czech city's page to that page in order to bypass the New Page Patrol review. If the subject is notable through reliable sources, than a new page can be created, from scratch, for him by someone who is independent of the subject. - The Bushranger One ping only 00:27, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by 'changing a Czech city's page to that page in order to bypass the New Page Patrol review' - can you please clarify? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Edwinahelen (talk • contribs) 04:06, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
- There was a page that existed, on the Czech village of Hvězdoňovice. Somebody who was hired to write an article but wanted to hide they were making paid contributions got the idea of taking that page, rewriting it to be about Skipp A. Haynes Williamson, and then moving the page to Skipp A. Haynes Williamson, believing that the people who watch the 'newly created pages' feed and would spot the creation of a paid, promotional article, would not see it, as it was a move of an "existing" article, and therefore their spam would be allowed to exist on Wikipedia. As is obvious, that violation of multiple important policies did not work, hence the article being deleted. - The Bushranger One ping only 05:55, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
