IMDB links[edit]

Hi TheOneWhoEditsWiki. I noticed that in creating Ursa Major (Movie) you included an external link to IMDB. We don't do that type of link, for reasons explained at WT:WikiProject Film/Archive 79#Masking imdb links as wikilinks and WP:ELPOINTS, so I have removed it. You seem to be a new editor and I'd be interested to know where you got the idea to use Bag Man as a link. Did you find the suggestion to use that somewhere on a help page? If so, I'd like to change the advice there to avoid that sort of mistake being made by someone else. Please let me know by editing into this part of your Talk Page. Thanks. Mike Turnbull (talk) 22:37, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. Won't add external links to IMDB in the future. TheOneWhoEditsWiki (talk) 17:23, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. I'd still like to know where you got the idea for that sort of link: it isn't your fault for using it since you are a new editor but I'd like to see if I can prevent others from using that type of link. Mike Turnbull (talk) 18:09, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Mike, I remember recently seeing a IMDB link in the text of an article that I was reading on wiki. That's why I didn't think it was wrong at that time when I added Bag Man. So, there is no such wrong suggestion in any help pages. I will let you know if I remember the article in which I saw that link. TheOneWhoEditsWiki (talk) 14:38, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. Don't bother to look for the article: I and others remove such links on sight and have a search which finds them as they arise (see my User Page). Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:16, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Ursa Major (film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:TOOSOON. Fails WP:NFILM. Should be deleted or moved to DRAFT

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
