AfC notification: Draft:Orlando Haddad has a new comment[edit]

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Orlando Haddad. Thanks! EBY (talk) 03:43, 13 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Orlando Haddad has been accepted[edit]

Orlando Haddad, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for Creation if you prefer.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

  • Thanks for getting the article started! All the reliable sources I found talked about Haddad, King, and the band together, so I decided to make it one article for all three and changed the name to Minas (band). Please feel free to continue working on it! One good thing you could do (which I've started) is to add more citations to reliable sources (which produces the little blue numbers in the text). Let me know if you have any questions by writing on my talk page.—Neil P. Quinn (talk) 08:06, 22 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Artist promo picture.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Artist promo picture.jpg, which you've attributed to www.minasmusic.com. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:12, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Minas (band) promo picture.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Stefan2 (talk) 21:13, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tarvarus. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Dylan Taylor (Jazz Bassist), for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Dylan Taylor (Jazz Bassist) to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks, Cotton2 (talk) 18:15, 24 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There are several issues here. First of all, if you edit Wikipedia on behalf of your employer (and that includes image uploads), the Terms of Use require that you disclose that, probably most easily on your user page - see WP:PAID for details on the disclosure requirements and how to most easily comply with them.
You created the article "Dylan Taylor (Jazz Bassist)" which has been moved (ie renamed) to Dylan Taylor (bassist). Since we don't have articles on other people named Dylan Taylor who play bass, there's no need to disambiguate between different kinds of bassists, and adding "jazz" to the article title unnecessarily increases its length. Disambiguating qualifiers should always be as short as possible to unambiguously identify the topic. Also, Wikipedia does not use title case, so it's "bassist", not "Bassist". Someone moved the page to the appropriate title, and Dylan Taylor (Jazz Bassist) is now a redirect that points to the article's current title.
Three images you uploaded to the English Wikipedia were deleted due to copyright concerns, and at least one more on the Wikimedia Commons was also deleted for that reason. Wikipedia and the Commons only accept freely licensed content (for Wikipedia there are a few exceptions to this rule, but as far as I can tell they wouldn't apply to these kinds of images). Whenever you upload an image, you have to provide evidence that it's indeed freely licensed. See WP:Donating copyrighted content and WP:Requesting copyright permission for some information; it's difficult to give specific advice without knowing the details of who owns the copyright, how it's licensed and so on. Another image of yours, File:Shawna-K-Town-Shawty-Bridge-river-korea.jpg, is tagged for speedy deletion, but hasn't been deleted yet - and in this case, it's not a copyright issue. See commons:COM:CSD#F10 for the deletion rationale.
If you have lost recent work, I haven't been able to find what it was; you didn't make any edits with this account other than here on this talk page since 2017. Giving us the exact title of the page you were working on might help. Huon (talk) 01:36, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
        • IM lost

Can I get a little more "step by step". ive read all the links youve provided and it seems more just information than. "fill this out"submitt Ive done this all before a few times thats why im frustrated. I would appreciate a guild . I just want to make a living bio artical of a musician .. i have all rights to use/ write anything. I started a page and it disappeared. I want to copy one of my existing articles and just simply replace the information with the new artist information.submit. How do i keep from having the shawna photo deleted. I could not find this PAID section in (Tarvarus (talk) 20:38, 10 December 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Regarding disclosure:
  1. Edit your user page, for example via this direct link.
  2. Paste this code (taken from Template:Paid) into the textbox: {{paid|employer=XXX|client=ZZZ}}
  3. Replace "XXX" and "ZZZ" with your employer and client. If employer and client are one and the same, you can remove the "|client=ZZZ" part outright.
  4. If you receive compensation for your edits from more than one party, repeat steps 2 and 3 as needed until you have listed them all.
  5. Click "Publish changes".
Regarding copyright and images, it's not enough if you have the right to use anything. Wikipedia isn't interested in images (or other content) unless the copyright holder has allowed everybody to re-use and modify the image for any purpose, including commercial purposes. If the copyright holder is willing to release the image under such a free license, they can send an email with a confirmation of the release to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Wikipedia provides a standard release form that they can use for this purpose.
commons:File:Shawna-K-Town-Shawty-Bridge-river-korea.jpg by now has been deleted. If you believe the deletion was done in error, you can contact the Commons admin who deleted it and explain to them how this photo was to be used. They might have further information and advice for you. Their talk page is at commons:User talk:Túrelio.
Finally, regarding the page you say you started, I can only repeat that I couldn't find anything of that sort. Possibly you previewed but never published the page; in that case, it never got saved and Wikipedia doesn't have anything that could be restored. Huon (talk) 18:38, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Tarvarus. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. -- a they/them | argue | contribs 22:11, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

+++ I understand.. but im not getting paid for this. I publish musician articles ... an artist i think should be documented. the person im creating artificial for now is one of the first Korean based females hip-hop artists that is getting major exposure in U.S. hip hop market. This is significant in music and think should be documented. Can I do this? I have gotten permission to use images. Ive done this before just seems like lots of changes.

how do i simple start withn a new artical for this purpose? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.160.137.54 (talk) 04:12, 12 December 2019 (UTC) 70.160.137.54 (talk) 04:41, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You said above that you work for the artist in question. I don't think you can now argue that this is not part of your job. Huon (talk) 00:10, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

++ I have no intention of "arguing" any point I appreciate the thorough work of you all... which makes this a very respected source But like everything else you still make it easy for the BIG guy and hard for the common folk. Uploading for the artist "I work for" was just a way of being professional in a technical conversation ... no one pays me and said the artist lives in Korea and works at a salad bar. HOWEVER me being a person that loves media and entertainment ... she is a very significant musician and I want to see that the world outside of her own country knows who she is.

If people don't look at these pages as much as you do.. it's pretty overwhelming the same thing on every page. please help me to build a new article and upload the photo (after ive gotten email to you for rights) can I do this?

68.10.30.55 (talk) 02:00, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'd advise you to review the notability guideline for musicians. I haven't looked into this specific case in detail, but if you now point out how the artist you want to write about is "the common folk" and "works at a salad bar", then she likely doesn't meet Wikipedia's standards of inclusion. You can argue that that's unfair, but Wikipedia simply doesn't aim to cover everything that exists - and it decidedly is not the place to "let the world know who she is" since we only summarize what already has been published by reliable independent sources such as newspapers or reputable magazines.
If the artist meets the inclusion criteria and you have good sources, you can use the Article Wizard to create a draft and submit it for a review by an experienced editor. The reviewer will either turn the draft into a live article or provide feedback on why it falls short.
Regarding the recently deleted image, I'd again advise you to contact the admin at the Wikimedia Commons who deleted it. It would help if there already were a draft so that you can show the admin what use the image is meant to be put to. Whether or not the draft will be accepted won't depend on images, so I would give that a low priority - high-quality sources that establish notability are far more important at this point.
