[edit]Dear TantalumTelluride/Archive8,
- Thanks for voting on my RFA! I appreciate your comments and constructive criticism, for every bit helps me become a better Wikipedian. I've started working on the things you brought up, and I hope that next time, things run better; who knows, maybe one day we'll be basking on the shore of Admintopia together. DEMIURGE ABUSE AND CENSORSHIP
[edit]Is the wannabe censor Demiurge ever going to be blocked for his relentless abuses of 3rr?? He has never yet been to date.

RE ABUSES BY DEMIURGE
[edit]Demiurge, a known censor and Catholic apologist, REPEATEDLY violates the "3rr" rule and has NEVER to date been penalized for this. Please be aware that Ali-oops, Henry Flower (who offers no explanation for anything he does) and others are in league with Demiurge. If you don't think so just check out Demiurge's homepage. He is trying to censor me because I have seen through him and his agenda, and have prevented him (as far as I can) from imposing his agenda and apologetics on Wikipedia.
See the below from various wikipages for examples regarding their collusion and their attempts at censorship, for which there do not even bother to pretend that there is POV (a convenient catchall for any wannabe censor) or any other textual justification for their actions. You might also want to read Demiurge's homepage to see what he has been up to:

- The three-revert rule doesn't apply when reverting edits by a sockpuppet of an indefinitely blocked user. --TantalumTelluride♪ 18:59, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- Apart from that, it's just another sock-puppet of banned user, Robert Sieger. Note in the above transcript that I actually reverted to Robert's version from Demiurge's (I always check Robert's edits for content). So much for "being in league". Highway's RfA
[edit]Thank you for supporting/objecting/tropicanising me in my request for Adminship. Although I wasn't promoted to admin status, with a final vote count of 14/27/12, I am very happy with the response I received from my fellow Wikipedians. I was pleasantly suprised at the support, and was touched by it. I will also work harder on preventing disputes and boosting my edit count (which is on the up), so thank you to all your objectors. Hopefully I will re-apply soon and try again for the mop. Thanks again, Highway Rainbow Sneakers

Encyclopedia
[edit]Hmm, I believe it's important to explain to new people that wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it's not a blog or whatnot. The use of userboxes and the abuse of userspace is a very controversial topic on wikipedia, and it doesn't seem wise to send new users straight into the minefield.
I'd rather that people actually just mostly left the user pages alone, and worked on the encyclopedia instead. :-)
I get the impression that you're saying that new users *should* be pointed along a controversial course if they ask for it. If my impression is indeed correct, I'd very much like to hear your reasoning. Kim Bruning 10:37, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- I see your point. It probably is a good idea to warn new users that userboxes are controversial, but I think it still probably would have been appropriate to provide the new user with a link so that she could find more information about them. Perhaps something like, "You're looking for userboxes, but let me warn you...." The dialogue at the help desk just gave me the impression that you were trying to keep a secret from the new user.
- By the way, it looks like Deborahjay has found a few harmless userboxes to display on her user page. At least she doesn't have a picture of a giant kiwi wearing clogs! :P
- Thanks for your comments, I'll keep them in mind. :-) Kim Bruning 15:42, 16 May 2006 (UTC) Eh, what? Oh! I blame User:Essjay for making the Kiwi in clogs. He's like that. :-) (I was born in .nl, but grew up in .nz, so I'm kiwi in clogs, so to speak. I told Essjay the story, and he just had to make the picture :-P )
RfA Thank You!
[edit]Thanks TantalumTelluride, (you'd think after the number of times I'd typed "per TantalumTelluride" at MfD, I'd know how to spell it by heart, but nope... I'm a little slow!)
I am honored by your support in my recent successful request for adminship. As an administrator, I am your servant, ready to help however I can. (In your case, since you've had the tools longer than I, my best use might be menial labor!) My talk page is always open; should you need anything, or should you see me making a mistake -- probably a common occurrence -- please do let me know. I will depend on the good sense of the community to keep me from making a complete fool of myself! :) In gratitude, Xoloz 16:22, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Holy Fazoo! Are you kidding? Well, needless to say, a nomination is yours whenever you feel prepared, if you wish. :) Flabbergasted, Xoloz 17:52, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi TantalumTelluride! Thank you very much for supporting my request for adminship. You labeled it as a "pile-on" fairly early, but I assure you that all of the support was equally appreciated, even the pile-on support. pages for newcomers
[edit]Hi!
As a fairly new newcomer, I'm interested in the "process" of helping new users find things to do when first arriving at Wikipedia.
I see a lot of Help pages, tutorials, etc., and lots of pages on policy and standards... But I haven't found pages directing users to find things to do to satisfy their early abilities other than some stub lists (and I've been using the search option (search: "{{wikify...")
Can you help me to find out what sort of "projects" there are on Wikipedia to help the masses of new Wikipedians pick pieces of work that suit them? My interest isn't necessarily for my own use (but it will help me too) but more so as a possible area of work I'd like to look at for participation.
Thanks!

complain
[edit]I'm fairly new to this wikipedia thing so I don't know how to go about this properly - who can I complain to about someone's attitude? I asked a question of the staff member that deleted the article, made a fair case, presented the facts that for all intents and purposes I was stating a fictional character's 'gimmick' yet I feel that he's just got no concept of what I was doing. I feel extremely harshly treated, especially with the wording of his reply to me.
"Feel free to contribute useful content to Wikipedia, but don't be tempted to recreate this article. Thanks. —Whouk (talk) 21:29, 25 May 2006 (UTC)"
I'd like to know how to go about complaining about this member of staff. I admin a few forums myself - if any of my staff behaved in such a reprehensible manner to a new member, they wouldn't be staff for much longer. He clearly has no idea about professional wrestling and the concept of gimmicks and so just deleted the article without even giving me a chance to make a copy of it - I wrote it from scratch. I'd at least like the chance to salvage the code for the info box, seeing as it took me ages to figure out how to code that for the first time.
I'm extremely angry about this. So much for WIkipedia being for the people, it's basically for the chosen people to decide if something is worthy or not. I informed "Gabriel Grey" about this whole affair, he thought the concept was spot on and is bemused as to why this was scrapped.
Thanks, TheInno
EDIT: In fact, it doesn't really matter. I'm so annoyed by this I don't think I'll bother wasting any more time with 'the WIkipedia experience'
Thanks for YOUR help, anyway - at least someone knows how to treat new users. TheInno 22:53, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for the heads up. I have replied on the user's talk page. —Whouk (talk) 06:02, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
