Thank You!

Sorry, I'm not sure how to leave a "thanks" tag in the talk pages, but thank you for adding Alice Heine to the list of Americans who married into European noble/royal families. Mpaniello (talk) 14:55, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

Birth/death infobox parameters for fictional characters

from User talk:TC-01e https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:TC-01e&diff=prev&oldid=1153167164

Hi, the inclusion of birth, death and age parameters in character infoboxes has been deprecated by consensus for awhile, thru various discussions. Fictional characters are not born and do not die, they exist in the perpetual present. This kind of info has been deemed trivial, and much of the time requires original research to determine. If you feel strongly about this, please feel free to open a discussion at Template talk:Infobox character, but in the meantime the articles you've edited should remain at the status quo. Thanks.— TAnthonyTalk 15:02, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I wanted to comment on your edit summary at Darth Vader, in which you make some good points:

  • The |home= and |residence= and related parameters were removed from {{Infobox character}} and {{Infobox soap character}} because that info was deemed trivial/fancruft. At some point, I believe WikiProject Star Wars had a discussion that determined that "homeworld" was helpful information for understanding/classifying Star Wars characters, and this info was added using the custom parameters. I know |homeworld= is an accepted parameter in {{Infobox comics character}}, which was not merged into {{Infobox character}} when may other genre-specific infobox templates were.
  • The |weapon= parameter was inherited in the merge of {{Infobox video game character}} into {{Infobox character}}, and is used in some video game franchises. Yes, I believe it's being misused in Star Wars character articles.
  • |family= and |affiliation= are longstanding, accepted parameters for in-universe info deemed appropriate for character articles.
  • I also have an issue with the custom parameters being used for "Dyad", "Master" and "Apprentice" information, but I haven't been part of any discussion on it and am not sure if there has been one.

I encourage you to bring any of this up at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Star Wars if you'd like a change, but birth/date/age is a non-starter because it has been rejected at a higher level than this project. Thanks.— TAnthonyTalk 16:14, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I've just nominated Interview with the Vampire (Original Television Series Soundtrack) for Good Articles. I saw you have made contributions to The Vampire Chronicles in the past, so I reckoned you may be interested in reviewing this. I'd be so grateful. If all goes well, I'm planning to bring other Interview with the Vampire (TV series) related articles to GA. Cheers. – Yolo4A4Lo (talk) 15:15, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

Reliable Sources

Sorry I can't find any reliable sources because there are no sources calling it Hard Fantasy. However, I am a huge fan of the Hard Fantasy genre and I'm reading the book and can tell that it is the textbook definition of Hard Fantasy. I'm trying to get enough attention to this topic for there to be sources saying that Shadow and Bone is Hard Fantasy. Question, how do I make a reliable source, How do I get enough attention for people and reliable sources to start calling the series Hard Fantasy? Nosecone33 (talk) 13:02, 30 April 2023 (UTC)

@Nosecone33: Hey there, thanks for the message. I don't disagree with you that the series could be hard fantasy, but you've proven my point in that determining genres for books/TV/films can be very interpretive. And editors adding our own analysis and interpretations without reliable sources coming to the same conclusions violates Wikipedia:No original research, even if those conclusions seem obvious to us. Editors are historically touchy about media genres, so I think your next best step would be to start a discussion at Talk:Shadow and Bone. Maybe you can get consensus that adding this genre is appropriate, or maybe another editor will introduce a reliable source you may have missed. Thanks.— TAnthonyTalk 15:10, 30 April 2023 (UTC)

DVD releases

FYI, the first three seasons of Titans were already released on DVD and Blu-ray. Both formats are not Warner Archive titles as in manufacture-on-demand pressed discs that are sold online and not at a retailer. If you look at a season of a specific show, they always include the DVD cover if there is one. Cosmic2992 (talk) 19:26, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

what can be done

Re: [1]. I'd suggest REFUNDing the List of Verbotene Liebe characters which if anyone has issues with could go to AfD. But it's weird to have a list of minor characters while the list of major, presumably, ones, is deleted... Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:35, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

Yes, I did have List of Verbotene Liebe characters undeleted (and then redirected it) because I wanted to see if the format was similar to this one and what content was included, but as you know it was a bare list basically redundant of List of Verbotene Liebe cast members. I preserved List of Verbotene Liebe minor characters to see if any of the citations that aren't irretrievably dead could be used in the cast members list, and if some of the content would be helpful in my goal to write a character overview section for the main article. In any case, I'm going to redirect the minor character list within the next few days after I redirect the many redirects to it. Thanks.— TAnthonyTalk 16:05, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
I keep prodding characters from that series, I fear none are notable and we just need to redirect them to the list or the main article about the series (if they are even mentioned there... might not be true for the minor ones). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 15:58, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
Yeah obviously there are no editors at English Wikipedia really interested in researching the German sources to improve these articles. As a matter of fact, they appear to have all been created in the 2000s by Lucaslovespeyton, who has been inactive since January 2021. Many/most of the US soap character articles were just as poorly sourced and plot-heavy as these back in the day until some real editors came along and made significant improvements. Anyway, I'm working on a joint article for Oliver Sabel and Christian Mann, who are of note to the LGBTQ community, and next I'd like to do something that addresses other notable characters from the series. I just haven't figured out yet what that should be lol.— TAnthonyTalk 21:27, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
IMHO the best thing to do is to have a section about characters in the main article. It can also be split into a list of characters, but those have an iffy existence when GNG/NLIST is concerned sometimes. Sadly, I don't speak German so I can't help much with that show. Feel free to hit me whenever a Polish language topic comes up; recently I nominated some Polish TV characters on pl wiki and got trouted for it (at least some of them were improved a bit... pl wiki is pretty inclusionist when it comes to Polish fiction topics, no surprise really... but sometimes good sources can be found in native languages, that's very true). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:31, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
Should I prod the reminder of the articles about those characters, or do you think we can boldly redirect them to the list of all characters? Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:21, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
Hi, I'm actively working on Tanja von Lahnstein, but I've redirected all of the other problematic articles except Clarissa von Anstetten, which I'll tackle next. Then I plan to start a proper List of Verbotene Liebe characters covering major characters in a more standard form. Thanks.— TAnthonyTalk 17:11, 16 April 2023 (UTC)

"Redundant" Wikiproject banners

TAnthony, hi, I just wanted to understand the logic of removing the Biography WP.

For instance, you're cut it from Johan Fredrik Martin, leaving only WP Sweden (which could indicate humans, but could also mean places, culture, technology or whatever from that country), and WP Visual arts (which could again possibly mean the presence of a human, but could also imply paint, bronze, photography, etc). So I am left wondering in which way WP Biography is redundant? The project appears to be both extant and important, and in this case at least also necessary. Chiswick Chap (talk) 12:45, 2 July 2023 (UTC)

@Chiswick Chap: Thanks for your message, and I must apologize. My edit was meant to remove the duplicate occurrence of {{WikiProject Visual arts}}, but it appears I also took away {{WikiProject Biography}} in error. I've fixed that. I think it was human error (darn trackpad!) rather than a problem with the AWB assist but I'll go back and check other edits. Thanks again.— TAnthonyTalk 16:07, 2 July 2023 (UTC)

Bird of the Iron Feather

So I did some digging into the show in Google Newspaper's archives and I've gathered that some stations (Chicago and Pittsburgh for one), received the 21 episodes in the very early part of 1970. However, it looks like nationwide PBS stations syndicated the show between October 1971 and February 1972, most likely at a pace of one per week. Will look for more. Mike H. Fierce! 11:54, 24 June 2023 (UTC)

I see you've already looked through the archives for Ebony. Did you also look at JET? I can look at that if you haven't. Mike H. Fierce! 11:57, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
Hi, I didn't create the draft and haven't done any work on it yet, I just monitor Wikipedia:WikiProject Soap Operas/Article alerts and came across it. So no I haven't looked thru the Ebony archives. But I'm really interested in the topic.— TAnthonyTalk 15:29, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
You inspired me to edit this morning and I added the character summary for Kim Douglas on the Days character side-page. I hadn't really contributed much in a while. Category:Sitcom episode redirects to lists

I was wondering, do you think we should rename Category:Sitcom episode redirects to lists to Category:Comedy television episode redirects to lists? I'm not sure if every entry there is actually a sitcom. Gonnym (talk) 19:43, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

Good idea, the catgeory does seem to have evolved beyond sitcoms. And that would solve my dilemma of where to put Category:Epic Rap Battles of History episode redirects to lists. LOL. — TAnthonyTalk 19:57, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
So we won't have to waste a week at CfD and to keep history as close, create the new category and I'll use AWB to move the entries. I think that's better than using the official process seeing as it's just you and me in the edit history there. Gonnym (talk) 20:03, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

Categories

Hello, TAnthony,

Sorry to clutter up your User talk page with all of these speedy deletion, CSD C1 notifications. I don't understand how all of these redirects categories emptied out on the same day. When I looked to see who had emptied them, the tool I used didn't show anything which is what happens if the pages are deleted. So are you aware of a big purge of episode redirect pages? Ordinarily when this many categories on the same subject empty out, it's because an editor is doing some recategorizing but that doesn't seem to be happening here. Just curious. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 04:02, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

@Liz: I was perplexed as well, but it seems that Explicit has retroactively mass-deleted unused redirects created by blocked editor TotalTruthTeller24 (see A Hope in Hell).— TAnthonyTalk 06:12, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

Episode redirects

Hey, in case you are bored and looking for more untagged episode redirects, User:Gonnym/episode redirects has a (looong) list of episode redirects without redirect categories. I thought the list would be shorter and I'd be able to handle it, but it's way to long for me :) Gonnym (talk) 05:25, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

@Gonnym: Why are you so good to me? LOL. Consider it done. — TAnthonyTalk 15:33, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

You are a brave person! Gonnym (talk) 16:19, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
So I'm realizing that many (most?) of these redirects are not assigned to TV episode categories for a reason. As far as I know, in practice we try to only put "valid" (my word) redirects into the series categories. So redirects with incorrect capitalization, misspelling, unnecessary disambiguation etc. go into those redirect categories but not into the series. I've been operating this way for years, I believe Xezbeth originally schooled me on that but I don't know if there is currently a guideline. Anyway, I'm going to start going through these by series and see what's what, I'm sure there are more than a few that need Rcats and/or templates.— TAnthonyTalk 16:33, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
Maybe we should modify Template:R from television episode to have a |catgory=no or |nocat=yes parameter that when set disables the category (Redirects from episodes) but still places the banner? Seems strange not to tag these just because they aren't the main redirect version. It also makes it harder for us to find valid redirects without catgories. Gonnym (talk) 17:22, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
Yeah I'm guessing it was just to make the series categories more manageable for editors using them for article creation? Hopefully Xezbeth will chime in at some point. In any case, would it be weird to create a category like Category:Malformed television episodes redirects to lists or something like that (not sure malformed is the right word) and just put the "invalid" redirects into that?— TAnthonyTalk 18:01, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
Yeah that can be done. My question is what counts as malformed? Are Template:R from unnecessary disambiguation malformed? Are we just grouping all non-primary redirects (if so then malformed isn't a good word)? Gonnym (talk) 18:05, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
The way I have always thought of it is that the "main" redirect is the one where a hypothetical article would be situated. That main redirect would have the relevant categories and be linked via Wikidata where applicable. The other redirects would point to that hypothetical article if it existed and so would use Template:R avoided double redirect along with any other relevant templates be it misspelling, incorrect disambiguation, alternate name or what have you. I haven't messed with redirects for a few years so I don't know how often these templates are being used. —Xezbeth (talk) 18:11, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
Yeah there are many, many situations where you have multiple redirects for the same episode pointing to a list, one "main" and then some with unnecessary or incorrect disambiguation, miscapitalization, etc.— TAnthonyTalk 20:27, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
If my calculations are correct, you've already cleared around 7k from the list. That's amazing! Gonnym (talk) 17:30, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
Haha yeah, but I started with the series that had larger amounts of redirects, I'm kind of down to the smaller bits and that will take longer. But I decided that it makes the most sense to have even the "malformed" redirects in the series categories.— TAnthonyTalk 18:34, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
Got a few big chunks left with Buffy and Friends :) Gonnym (talk) 14:40, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
New batch at User:Gonnym/episode redirects :) Gonnym (talk) 18:42, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
@Gonnym: How can the bot criteria be adjusted/subverted to keep non-episode items like Shirley Bassett from coming up every time? Perhaps I can add something when I review them that could prompt them to be skipped during the next bot run?— TAnthonyTalk 15:34, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
Yeah I was thinking about that also. I currently don't have an idea for that current example. Maybe once the list is smaller we can see some kind of pattern and be able to exclude some from the list based on that. Gonnym (talk) 17:07, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
Another update to the list. To remove incorrect entries from future batches they should be tagged with one of the following:
{{R from television program}}, {{R from film}}, {{R from album}}, {{R from work}}, {{R from fictional character}}, {{R from fictional element}}, or {{R from fictional location}}. That should take care of most of the non-episode entries I believe. Gonnym (talk) 17:05, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

Category:Product and attraction character redirects to lists

I was looking at Category:Product and attraction character redirects to lists and it seems to be very misused with blanket tagging categories. If this category is kept it should include only characters that are unique to product or attractions. What do you think? Gonnym (talk) 16:46, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

Looks like somebody was putting new Disney animated film categories in there this weekend but I fixed that. Otherwise, the issue is that franchises like Transformers and My Little Pony are prominent as both products and films/TV series.— TAnthonyTalk 19:05, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

Question of proper use of fine art images/* Hi */

In an earlier era, when I was a logging editor, I was take to task for presenting a piece of fine art on my User page. Has no one challenged the appearance of "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" on your User page, as being disallowed? I am asking not to challenge, but to understand if the rules have changed since I retired (and perhaps to understand if my being taken to task was a mattter of bias rather than fair application of generally applied rules). Cheers, and by the way, I love that art work (and your dedication as well). 98.46.104.237 (talk) 15:57, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Hey there, thanks for the question. The Great Wave image is a free, public domain image from Wikimedia Commons, which means there is no issue using it freely across Wikipedia, including on user pages. The only reason I can imagine artwork may have been challenged on your page was if it was non-free, or copyrighted.— TAnthonyTalk 16:32, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Also a number of those will be talk pages which redirect to other talk pages, usually from one disambiguation to another. I'm not sure what should be done with those, so for now I've skipped them.— TAnthonyTalk 20:19, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
Remove the talk page redirect and tag them. That's what I do. That also makes it so that page will end up in reports (say if the redirect is sent to RfD). Gonnym (talk) 20:20, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
Copy that.— TAnthonyTalk 20:22, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
Everything under Category:Radio episode redirects to lists (there are a lot of Doctor Who audio dramas) also use {{R from TV episode}}. They have WP Doctor Who and WP BBC banners.— TAnthonyTalk 23:32, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
Ok, I've updated the query and it should now be without those pages. Gonnym (talk) 05:14, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
Great job! Down from over 7900 to 627! --Gonnym (talk) 11:34, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
And since my watch list is full of character tagging, in case you are wondering, according to this query there are 6703 pages still to go :) Gonnym (talk) 09:56, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
Haha, I was wondering if there were any other weirdos like me who have character redirects on their watchlists LOL. — TAnthonyTalk 14:11, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
Well, most of the MCU and Arrowverse ones were created or later edited by me but it seems I have a lot of other ones on my watch list. Between your edits and some date related infobox fixes, that is basically my whole watchlist this week :) Gonnym (talk) 16:50, 6 May 2024 (UTC)

WP Tagging

Hello. Recently you added WP Video Game banners to many redirect talk pages (e.g. at Talk:Team Rocket's Meowth and Talk:ワナイダー). I think you only meant to add the parameter |Nintendo=y, but you erroneously also added |eSports=y. This is not that big of a deal, but I figured I'd reach out and let you know. – Pbrks (t·c) 14:38, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

Hey thanks, I did catch that and stopped adding task forces with the tool. I may go back and add those game-by-game so they're accurate. I made some fixes but may not have gotten them all, I'll jump on the ones you noticed now. Thanks again.— TAnthonyTalk 14:43, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

The Publishers' Weekly

You seem to be on a tear taking the apostrophe out of "Publishers' Weekly" wherever it appears. The problem is that, as our article states, the original title of the publication is The Publishers' Weekly, with apostrophe. (You can see an example here) Reference to it with an apostrophe should be kept when era-appropriate.That is independent of whether the The is included as we frequently drop leading Thes, such as refering to a New York Times article rather than a The New York Times article. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 18:12, 7 May 2024 (UTC)

"Our article"? Anyway yes, there are other articles with the same appropriate reference to the original punctuation, I've linked it in Anti-Yellow Dog Club in such a way as to avoid future bots and queries singling it out.— TAnthonyTalk 18:33, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
Yes, I consider Wikipedia to be "ours", a creation of those who edit it.
There should be no automated or similar replacements in any case. The change you made is raising my WP:NOTBROKEN sensors hard. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 18:53, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
I totally get that, and I frequently restore valid redirects per that policy. But from a technical standpoint, the redirect here looks like a mispunctuation along the lines of Publisher's Weekly, and a casual editor or a bot programmed in good faith would not know what we know, that it's correct in certain instances. It's not as obvious a violation of WP:NOTBROKEN as blindly changing every instance of William Jefferson Clinton to Bill Clinton would be.— TAnthonyTalk 19:11, 7 May 2024 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Redirect Barnstar
I have noticed your work recently when it comes to tagging redirects and man am I impressed to the dedication of your work here. I don't think I could ever stay committed to this for so long. So I offer you this barnstar for your work on redirect tagging. Good on ya! CaptainGalaxy 21:30, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Line breaks

Hello. When using AWB, please be careful not to add double line breaks, such as here and here. Thank you. InfiniteNexus (talk) 18:49, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

One more thing: per MOS:TALKORDER, {{Talk header}} should be placed at the top of the page, before WikiProject banners (Special:Diff/1223690705). InfiniteNexus (talk) 18:54, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

Removing WP:MILHIST class ratings

Hi. I noticed that with edits like Special:Diff/1223878909, you removed WP:MILHIST class ratings that differed from the Banner Shell. I'm not familiar with the issue, but last I checked, WP:MILHIST uses its own assessment system and doesn't follow the banner shell. Has something changed since then? --Paul_012 (talk) 08:52, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

@Paul 012: Oh my, you're right. I will fix my edits ASAP, I can do what I was trying to do without impacting MILHIST. Thanks for the message.— TAnthonyTalk 14:06, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Question on the Wikipedia policy

So the consensus with the lady Jessica image is taking quite a while. I've poked around on Wikipedia and was thinking we could maybe do an rfc to see others thoughts but it seems like that's only good if you start a new heading and section. Do you know of any alternatives where we could ask for neutral third party inputs? DuneEnjoyer333 (talk) 13:06, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

And not have to start a new discussion/heading ofc DuneEnjoyer333 (talk) 13:07, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
was thinking this one maybe https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view/Noticeboard DuneEnjoyer333 (talk) 13:13, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
Honestly this a really minor thing with no need to go wide. I mentioned previously the image issue we had at Paul Atreides, which almost resulted in having no infobox image at all. And I'm expecting another discussion there at some point because some editors weren't happy with the removal of the 1984 image and consensus on the change was kind of muddled. Anyway, there's no hurry on Jessica. Let's give it a little more time, and in the meantime I've been working on the article to find ways to incorporate images as we've been discussing. Thanks.— TAnthonyTalk 13:54, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

WPBS fixes

FYI here. A glitch in AWB or other tool? If just manual editing mishap, then please ignore my message. - Altenmann >talk 23:28, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

PS. I think I know what happened: your tool confused {WPUkraine} with {WPUK}. - Altenmann >talk 23:30, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
@Altenmann: So sorry, I saw it was trying to do that and tweaked the settings, but didn't realize I'd actually made a bad edit already. Thanks for the message! — TAnthonyTalk 00:37, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

FYI

Following our discussion of fan wikis, I noticed this edit got made, charging that linking to them violates WP:COPYLINK. Wafflewombat (talk) 06:06, 1 June 2024 (UTC)

Quick look

Hey again! Thanks for plugging away at the Leia article. When you have a moment, could you take a glance at the Chewbacca page? I removed the Fictional Biography and restored the Appearances sections. I then did a fair amount of trimming of the Appearances segments to make them more succinct. The only obvious thing that needs to happen now (that I can tell) is adding more citations for some of the appearances.

But since I've made mistakes with editing these character pages, I just wanted to get your feedback on whether there are any red flags or glaring faults with the Chewie article that I missed. It's a short article, but that's because not much has been written about Chewbacca. The major differences with the current page and the version that existed before I started editing are A) that I removed a bunch of original research in the Cultural Impact section and put it into a See Also section at the suggestion of another editor, and B) that I removed the Reception section because it consisted almost entirely of non-notable rankings and a long Roger Ebert complaint. Here is the version of the page that existed right before I made my first edit two months ago.

Hopfully I'm not putting too much on your plate. No rush on this! All I was hoping for was a quick glance so I can be sure I'm doing things correctly in terms of fixing my mistakes and getting these character articles back to a higher level of quality. Wafflewombat (talk) 09:13, 1 June 2024 (UTC)

Leia

Hey, just a quick question. I noticed you put a bunch of reference ideas on the Leia talk page. Does that mean you're done editing the page? Wafflewombat (talk) 06:10, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

Hey there. The file is used in two articles. I thought about taking the image to FFD as it was previously tagged for deletion. Indeed, I don't think the image adds much understanding to the whole film, and I'm uncertain whether it's needed in the other article about Medusa in pop culture. George Ho (talk) 20:15, 12 June 2024 (UTC)

Now taken to FFD, unfortunately: Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2024 June 13#File:Medusa-ClashofTitans.jpg. --George Ho (talk) 21:18, 13 June 2024 (UTC)

My mistake on the Dune (1984 film) article

I was under the impression the casting information was already in the production section when I removed it from the cast section. Sorry for not checking that. Bluerules (talk) 13:23, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

Yoda

If you don't feel like talking that's okay, but I just wanted to make a peace offering. I consolidated all the appearances of Yoda into one section, and I was wondering if you wanted to look at the page and tell me if this is what you were envisioning in terms of de-privileging canonicity. I removed any mention of Legends on the page because only a few of the appearances fall into that category, but I could easily add back in some reference or explanation of what Legends is.

If I don't hear from you, I hope you have a good day. Wafflewombat (talk) 16:07, 18 June 2024 (UTC)

No peace offering required, like I said, no hard feelings here. It's sounds like you've put some thought into the Yoda article and I'm sure it's fine. My point about canon was that while "official" material should definitely be prioritized and separated from Legends, like in Darth Vader and other articles, pushing the word "canon", and the concept itself, too hard can come off as amateurish/fanboyish. Anyway, I know you're working hard, and I appreciate that you accepted my initial criticisms and applied them in your article overhauls moving forward. That said, I have other things I'd rather focus on so I'm not going to get wrapped up in what's going on with the SW articles. Thanks for your dedication and best of luck.— TAnthonyTalk 18:50, 18 June 2024 (UTC)

Category:Thai soap opera poster images

A lot of the files in the category are posters of shows not usually labelled as soap operas; they're just called TV series. I think it'd be better to use the broader term. --Paul_012 (talk) 01:30, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the message! The shows were in the Thai television soap operas category so that's how I categorized the images on this pass. We can certainly refine it later but I'm mostly trying to sort down these giant image categories.— TAnthonyTalk 03:15, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

Living parameters

When you run AWB on talk pages with a "blp=no" parameter in the banner shell, AWB will completely remove the living parameter from the page. These edits have contributed to the abnormal backlog at Category:Biography articles without living parameter. This is because AWB has it listed as an outdated general fix — living parameters are required on all biographical articles. We're still waiting on this to be changed; see Template talk:WikiProject banner shell#BLP_tagging, Wikipedia talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Archive 34#Request to change banner shell general fixes and this Phabricator issue. If you can, please make sure to disable this general fix before running AWB on talk pages again. Thanks! C F A 💬 23:36, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

Regarding my suggested change to the no-chamber/no-ship subsection

You reverted my suggestion with the reason "trivial". I don't think most of the readers know about that special fact. Well, if there are facts in fiction at all.

Let me add that I don't have the english version of the Encyclopedia at hand. I only read the german one, so I'm currently unable to cite chapter and verse. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.181.203.117 (talk) 23:00, 28 June 2024 (UTC)

Even if it were a notable fact that helps define the concept, it's from the Dune Encyclopedia, which is fan fiction.— TAnthonyTalk 23:25, 28 June 2024 (UTC)

Film poster image

I noticed that you are adding Category:2020s Indian film posters for many posters and many of them are not even Indian films. For example, File:Rajkumar (2024 film).jpg, File:Surongo.jpeg etc. Mehedi Abedin 17:24, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

Thank you so much for calling this to my attention. I've figured out the problem in the way I extracted films in this case, so I'm making corrections now. Thanks again.— TAnthonyTalk 18:20, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

Categorisation

Please avoid categorising "French film posters" en masse in cases the version of the file is not intended for the French market (because it represents the poster in another domestic market different from the French one, often corresponding to the country with the largest share of the co-production).--Asqueladd (talk) 19:19, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

@Asqueladd: Category:Non-free images of film posters is bloated and needs categorization. The ideology of the poster image categories by country is currently based on the film's country of origin, not the particular version of the poster. Many of these posters fall into several such categories. If you are able to identify the origin of the poster and choose to further categorize as such, then fine, but leaving them in the main category is useless and lazy. Thanks.— TAnthonyTalk 19:40, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
The ideology of the poster image categories by country is currently based on.... Could you point to me where can I read about such "current ideology"?. Because it clearly makes the category (which categorises files, not films, in case you did not notice) less useful.--Asqueladd (talk) 19:45, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
As in this edit, you're reverting the designation that a rationale is provided as well as the in-template categorization, which places the image back into the slush category. I disagree with your understanding of the categories BUT this would be the way to implement your change to a single category based on the poster version.— TAnthonyTalk 19:47, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
I probably came off as snarky in my previous comments, so please accept my apology. I wanted to add, while these categories are for images, they fall within the film and film-by-country hierarchy and tend to be used that way. That said, you make a good point about usefulness, and the categories are also not formatted as "Posters from [Nationality] films", so I can't really argue with your thinking. Thanks for your input and I'll consider it moving forward.— TAnthonyTalk 21:31, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

AWB on Title Cards

Hi TAnthony,

Your mass edits on most of the title cards are NOT "Canadian television series title cards", most of them are "American television series title cards" FYI. — YoungForever(talk) 21:17, 8 October 2024 (UTC)

DAMN, thanks for catching that. I was tagging by category and inadvertently pulled in some shows filmed in Canada. I'll make those fixes shortly. Thanks again.— TAnthonyTalk 21:33, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
No problem. There is actually a lot more American TV series filmed in Canada than you think. That's because it is cheaper to film in Canada than in the U.S. — YoungForever(talk) 21:55, 8 October 2024 (UTC)

Image categories

Just a reminder that you need to be careful when you're changing the licensing template on image files. For at least a couple of months now, practically every time Special:WantedCategories updates with a new batch of redlinked categories that has to be cleaned up, there are almost always one or more redlinked "posters" categories, because you added a category name that doesn't exist at all to the template's category-making field. But, of course, pages aren't allowed to sit in redlinked categories, so somebody else ends up needing to fix it.

So you need to be careful to both (a) use categories that exist, not ones that don't, and (b) check the categories after you save the page to make sure you haven't slipped up with a typo or a category that you thought existed but doesn't, and fix it yourself right away if the page has any redlinked categories on it. This is the kind of thing that shouldn't keep becoming my problem to clean up over and over again — we all make mistakes from time to time, that's part of the job description of being human, but you should be double-checking to fix any redlinked categories right away before they become other people's problem. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 13:45, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

Hey there, not an excuse but I use AWB to prep each edit so it's tricky to readily check for a bad category as I go, though I do catch my own mistakes most of the time. I think my ratio of errors to edits is pretty good but yes, in the moment I may sometimes get confused about which categories have decade subcategories, etc. I'll start monitoring Special:WantedCategories myself. As always, I appreciate your efforts and apologize for putting more work on your plate, it happens to me as well with other tasks and it's annoying! LOL.— TAnthonyTalk 14:46, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

Your page moves and file moves

Hi, TAnthony. This is just a reminder to remember to follow the page mover and file mover guidelines when suppressing redirects and when moving files. Recent examples that didn't follow those guidelines include suppressing a redirect from 2014 and moving an article to an overly-specific name without redirect (there are no other novels called that). For files, please see a, b, c, d.

While your work in these fields is appreciated and many of your file moves are to more informative or precise names, often aesthetic reasons are not enough and files should not be moved unless necessary (see the criteria). Please be sure to only suppress file redirects when necessary.

This is also a standard warning that further inappropriate moves may result in revocation of those permissions. Please be careful in the future and don't hesitate to contact me if there are any questions. Thanks, Sdrqaz (talk) 06:09, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
