October 2014[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm McGeddon. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the page Slot machine, because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Blogs simply aren't appropriate sources per WP:RS. If the blog was making a valuable point about usage of the term, perhaps that point should be actually written into the article, rather than left in a reference? I've dug up a simple dictionary source instead, for now (and put the footnote in the body of the article rather than the opening paragraph, so that it doesn't clutter things up). --McGeddon (talk) 09:18, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing as the blog is the blog of an actual casino, I think ity should carry some weight. As for the WP:RS, I've seen plenty of blogs being used as references. Anyway, I'm not going to argue semantics. I was just trying to help. Have a nice day.

It's a crudely-written commercial blog entry full of clunky boldface "pokies at the online casino" keywords that just describes the writer's own hasty Google research and ends by saying "play them all at [our site] anytime, anywhere!" This is a textbook WP:QUESTIONABLE promotional source and of zero use to Wikipedia. --McGeddon (talk) 09:36, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said, I don't care. Have fun being all draconian on your "slot machines" page man. I really don't care if you keep it or not. Now please stop spamming me with silly arguments trying to prove that you are superior to me, because you come across like you are trying to belittle me, and that is offensive. It's Wikipedia, not the freaking Smithsonian Institution. People want quick, easy info, nothing more.
