January 2023[edit]

Hello. I wanted to let you know that your recent edit(s) to the Psycho III plot summary have been removed because they added a significant amount of unnecessary detail. Please avoid excessive detail and high word counts when editing plot summaries/synopses. You may read the plot summary edit guides to learn more about contributing constructively to plot summaries/synopses. There are also specific guidelines for films, musicals, television episodes, anime/manga, novels and non-fiction books. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 16:44, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Doniago OK. I thought the detail was more accurate and quite important though (ie. his look towards the camera at the end) SteveDW (talk) 00:17, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome to make other edits to the summary so that it will remain under 700 words, which is the maximum recommended per WP:FILMPLOT. If you're running into trouble both adding your content and keeping it under 700 words and feel that an exception is warranted, you could ask about an exception at the article's Talk page, but usually editors will respond either by coming up with other trims to the summary or arguing that your additions aren't that essential to understanding the plot. Cheers! DonIago (talk) 03:35, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Doniago Thanks 🙂 SteveDW (talk) 03:44, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

January 2024[edit]

Please refrain from making changes to plot summaries/synopses that conflict with the plot summary edit guides, as you did at Countdown (2019 film). You may wish to review the specific guidelines for films, musicals, television episodes, anime/manga, novels and non-fiction books. Excessive detail and high word counts should be avoided. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 16:19, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Doniago Sorry... I thought the edit was needed, as the mid-credits scene wasn't mentioned at all? All the plot summaries I have read on Wikipedia seem to mention if there are any mid or post credits scenes... SteveDW (talk) 23:02, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you read MOS:FILM, I'm pretty sure it mentions (it may only be in past discussions on the Talk page though) that those kinds of scenes should only be included if they have significant plot elements (frequently they're just gags). But that's really besides the point...your edit increased the length of the summary beyond the 700-word guideline. As far as I'm concerned, you're welcome to re-add your text while refactoring other parts of the summary to keep the overall length below 700 words. If you don't feel there's a way that can be done but still feel your text should be added, you could start a discussion at the talk page for the film to see what other editors think. Hope this helps! @Doniago Cool... thanks for the info! 👍 SteveDW (talk) 07:08, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
