Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ICDDS.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Icdds.jpg. The copy called Image:Icdds.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Image copyright problem with Image:ICDDS.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:ICDDS.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 12:33, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I am afraid I have deleted the file Image:ICDDS.jpg (its other copy was also deleted as a duplicate); it wasn't actually a logo, but rather a banner from the organization's website, making the fair use claim invalid. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 12:57, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have also deleted the page Icdds, since I believe it's a copyright violation - it seems to have been copied from the organization's press release or another source (though I wasn't able to locate the source online). - Mike Rosoft (talk) 13:06, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have restored the article as Institute of Civil Defence and Disaster Studies; however, please note that users are generally not recommended to create articles about themselves, thier organization, etc.; for details on why, see our guidelines about conflict of interest. As for its copyright status, please have your organization copntact the Wikimedia Foundation (permissions-en[AT]wikimedia[DOT]org) to confirm that the contents are under the GFDL license; a permission that only extends to Wikipedia or forbids third-party commercial use is not sufficient. (Also please note that once the article is submitted to Wikipedia, your organization cannot control its contents, or request its deletion except by normal deletion process.)

As for the file Image:ICDDS.jpg, I have to dispute your claim that it is a logo of your organization. It contains your logo (on the left side of the image), but the whole image is not a logo.

Regards, Mike Rosoft (talk) 17:46, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have restored the cleanup notices in the article, for the second time. They are there to indicate that the article needs to be re-written; please don't remove them until it's done. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 10:23, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • What's wrong with the article? Mainly, that it isn't written in the style of an encyclopedic article, but rather as the organization's press release (and you have in fact admitted that it comes from one). You could have started by briefly and accurately defining the subject, and then providing information about it in an objective manner. You can have a look ar Wikipedia:Writing better articles for a guide on article layout. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 18:55, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 16:27, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ICDDS[edit]

Please don't create new sections every time you comment on a talk page, to be honest it's very annoying. I'm not sure what the scope of companies wikiproject is since I'm not a member of the project, I think they cover non-profits. And it is POV and very strongly, at least it was before I started editing it, please read some of our other articles on organizations (especially good and featured articles) and judge for yourself.--The Dominator (talk) 23:01, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, you were right about the companies project and I have changed it to a more suitable project.--The Dominator (talk) 04:53, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ICDDS.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ICDDS.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:51, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Institute of Civil Protection and Emergency Management, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Institute of Civil Protection and Emergency Management. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Ridernyc (talk) 14:55, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Institute of Civil Defence and Disaster Studies has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
