Poetry contributions[edit]
Hi Star reborn,
First off, I'd like to thank you for the poetry articles you've been contributing recently. These are valuable additions to the encyclopedia, and it's great that you've been able to track down so many poems which didn't have articles. However (there's always a but...) there are a couple of problems with your submissions. Firstly, they do bear striking similarities to each other, in both content and structure (for example, the entries on Harold the Dauntless, The Bridal of Triermain and The Lord of the Isles all opened with identical phrases: "XXX is a rhymed, romantic, narrative-poem by Sir Walter Scott. Written in 181x, it weaves together elements of popular English legend using dramatic themes." Also, many of the plot sections you have contributed end in a bullet list of cliffhanger questions, cf The Battle of Marathon: A Poem, Balder Dead, The Divine Enchantment). This may simply be your preferred style of writing, but it may also be because you are copying this text from another source (I note that your sole source for all these articles tends to be the Oxford University Press version of the text). If you aren't already aware of WP:COPYVIO, please make yourself familiar with it.
The second issue, which I've alluded to above, is the sparseness of sourcing - we need independent, ideally third-party sources to verify notability. These exist for all the poems you've written about; I've already added some to the Harold the Dauntless and The Bridal of Triermain, for example; you just need to cite them. I'm slowly going through your created articles and adding references, but it's along job; if you could take a moment to reference your work it would make life easier for the rest of us.
Apologies for the essay; as I said at the outset, your contributions are useful and appreciated - all I'm suggesting is that they could be improved. - With respect to these articles, I am concerned that the images you have been placing on them as covers may not have accompanied published editions of the works. Can you please provide more information about the editions on which these works appeared (publisher, date, etc.) if they were published?
