I was the one who added the "environmental section" in the Sebastián Piñera article. Sorry for any unintentional misunderstanding. (My I.P. number, is constantly changing, problay from using a labtop, I have no account yet, sorry). I thought I was writing in a "neutral point of view". I added this because I am interested in the environment; I like nature. As I foreigner from the others side of the planet from Turkey and who also does not speak Spanish (I only partially understand written Spanish, and not spoken Spanish), it is definately not my business to meddle in Chilean affairs. I would not dare, because I am aware of the controversies and bitterness in Chile, I was not aware of the contoversies surronding him.

I was only interested in the environmental "aspect", not he himself. I do not know Sebastián Piñera www.guardian.co.uk "Chile turns right with billionaire president", I just followed his "interest" in nature preservation, and I have no idea if he is a real "environmentalist" and a "deep ecologist" like another also controversial American businessman "Douglas Tompkins" who also owns his private Pumalin Park in Chile, whom I heard and was interested in a long time ago www.telegraph.co.uk "Save the planet?". There is the official website of Sebastián Piñera's private Tantauco Park Tantauco Park Official Website (Spanish) but since I don't speak and understand spoken Spanish, and cannot properly follow the website. Could you please check it, if there is any verification?

As an outsider I conclude it is not my job to write or add on Chilean articles even if it is a harmless and non-political subject like its climate, and especially controversial ones. Again sorry.

  • Hi there. Well, from what I understand it, Wiki is for everyone so please don't feel like "an outsider." I respect everyone's input, which is why I did not delete your work and offered you the chance to add references and citations. I know what it's like to have your work deleted with absolutely no warning because it's been done to me; something I found offensive. I therefore, would not do it to anyone else.

I appreciate everyone contributing. If you want to include citations and references to what you wrote it would be helpful. And yes, it is controversial because adding a high-end and large-scale tourist development in Chiloe will not only displace unspoiled land, but also the people and culture. The same has happened on Isla de Pascua. The locals took Pinera to court and eventually a judge decided he could not build his hotel there. I agree with the judge because I have been to the island and it is in every sense of the word "unspoiled." In any case, you could research this and author both points of view without using words that characterize one point of view or another; just facts.

I hope you continue to write what you consider fair and add references. Thanks for writing back and please let me know if you ever want or need a second point of view. Cheers! --Soy Rebelde (talk) 19:38, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Guidelines

There aren't any that I know of. I'm just going to assume good faith and let this one by. Normally things like that aren't an event, but not many are judging. I'm assuming you know more about the subject than I do, so I'll let you be the judge on that. Sorry for any confusion that I caused. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 05:09, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Just so you know, putting a reference tag on a talk page won't allow for a user to see the page. Putting a simple link does the trick though. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 06:09, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
