Template for edit-a-thon

I made User:Czar/template/Madison as an invite template for the event, if you're up for some circulation czar 23:29, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Looks great. I'd say send it out (I haven't done that before, but I know there's a bot that will do it). Slambo (Speak) 23:34, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
Well, that was an adventure, but I figured it out czar 01:04, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
Cool. I see we have 17 people who checked in as "going" on the Facebook page... Slambo (Speak) 01:05, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

Wholesale conversion of RDTs

Please read WP talk:RDT before converting any more diagrams from {{BS-map}} to {{Routemap}}. Useddenim (talk) 00:14, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for the heads-up. I hadn't seen any of that discussion before (but where is the archived RFC?). I was changing maps as I found them during my normal editing, following the suggestion that is at the top of both the BS-map ("Use the superseding {{Routemap}} for shorter loading time and smaller template size") and routemap ("This Lua-based template replaces the older parser-function-based {{BS-map}} (and deprecated {{Railway line header}}, {{BS-header}} and {{BS-table}}) templates") template pages. Those statements, without knowing of the other discussion, plus the assertions that routemap loads faster and places less template strain on the display engine, seemed pretty clear-cut that routemap was an accepted replacement.
I do have a programming background, despite not programming professionally for about 9 years, and find both systems relatively easy to understand. The only part I don't like is that the icon names are still using their legacy German words and have not been translated to English (i.e. bhf [an abbreviation of bahnhof] for station, brucke for bridge and grenze for border).
The most important factor in my editing is that I can add parameters to collapse transclusions and to easily display them within infoboxes. Both BS-map and routemap support these, but I find routemap simpler for inclusion within infoboxes because it is just through |inline=1 instead of wrapping the route template within {{infobox rdt}} and adding a few more parameters to suppress headings. @Useddenim: - Okay, I found the RFC and read through it and skimmed the rest of that archive page. There doesn't seem to me to be a compelling reason not to make the conversions. The biggest problem I saw mentioned was that of documentation and the new template has what I consider adequate documentation today. The only real against vote I saw was the RFC creation, and the comments that were there seemed more positive than negative for conversion. I still think routemap's inline and collapse options are very simple and they make the tranclusions easier to read. Right now life is happening (I've got snow to shovel and a car repair to manage), so my editing time is limited today. I'll be back online later. Slambo (Speak) 20:32, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

Articles that you have been involved in editing—Union Station (Pittsfield, Massachusetts) and Pittsfield Depot —have been proposed for merging with Joseph Scelsi Intermodal Transportation Center. If you are interested, please participate in the merger discussion. Thank you. RES2773 (talk) 13:58, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

You should have gotten an email from me about this - could you please either fill out the linked form, or email me if you didn't get it? Nikkimaria (talk) 19:39, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

I have the email but had a crazy week or two recently. I have time to catch up on things now and will work on this today. Thank you! Slambo (Speak) 12:23, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
Ping. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:19, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, doing it right now before my next meeting. Slambo (Speak) 12:49, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
