My RfA

Thankyou for your participation in my RfA. Due to an almost even spread of votes between Oppose and Support (Final (16/13/6)) I have decided to withdraw for now and re-apply in a couple of months as suggested. I thank everyone for their kind support of my editorial skills; it meant a lot to me to get such strong recommendations from my fellow editors. If you ever have any hints as to how I can improve further, I would love to hear from you. ViridaeTalk 15:24, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Hertfordshire Leagues

Siva - please be careful when setting up new articles for Hertfordshire leagues. There is an error in the English League System chart that states that the Herts Co League is at level 13 when it is in fact at level 12 - this then cascades down to the feeder leagues and divisions all being 1 level out. I'd fix the table myself but don't have the time at the moment with all the things I'm doing to my own site for the new season - fchd 20:13, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

My RfA and your vote

Hi Siva,
Thanks for participating in my RFA! Ultimately, no consensus was reached, but I still appreciate the fact that you showed up to add in your two cents. You can feel free to talk to me about it or add some advice on my improvement page.

Sincerely, The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me)

Hi Siva, I write you concerning this article, which was written by you several months ago. I live in Barcelona and there's no any town named like this on the Catalan coast; I guess the article concerns a town named Vilanova i la Geltrú, which was renamed Villanueva y Geltrú during the Franco rule. That's why I think both articles should be merged. I hope you agree with me. Bye,--Manu bcn 18:20, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Hello. I'd like to you please re-evaluate my RfA, as it seems your oppose was based largely on my answers to the questions. These answers have since been revised, and the RfA is to be closed soon. Thanks! -- Rmrfstar 11:43, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Your RfA

Hi, I've added a question to your RfA. JoshuaZ 02:07, 16 August 2006 (UTC) Hi, I've moved over to neutral and added another related question if you don't mind. JoshuaZ 03:28, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

As to your request for clarification- yes although I also want to know what you have done in the last few months since the previous RfA that have given you more experience and knowledge of policy. JoshuaZ 05:07, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Your RfA

Hi Siva- Thanks for your note. Sorry for being overly brief. The Gerg's statement says that not all concerns from prior RfA's were resolved. Can you tell which they are and how they would affect your abilities as an admin? Cheers.  :) Dlohcierekim 14:01, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi again, Thanks for your second note. Cheers,  :) Dlohcierekim 02:42, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Wikimania 2007

Hello, Singapore has put in an unofficial bid for Wikimania 2007. I don't know whether you would mind, but would you mind helping me in the bid and everything. Its alright if you decline, but well it will be a good chance to meet you. Good luck on your RFA, and I hope everything goes fine. --Terence Ong (Chat | Contribs) 10:42, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry

I'm sorry if I can't get through to the opposers, but I'm trying :) — Deckiller 21:19, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Hmm, would you be able to come on irc?

I'm often on irc.freenode.net, #wikipedia. You'll probably be able to find me there at some point. Or ask people if they've seen me?

I'd just want to check if you're aware of the foundation issues, and also of the policy trifecta, and have some idea about what they are and why they're there. :-)

License tagging for Image:Yate.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Yate.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:09, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, the problem is solved now. --Siva1979Talk to me 03:25, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Bureaucrat

Thanks for the kind words. I don't think that Wikipedia actually needs more bureaucrats right now, but if there is a need for someone else to take that position, I am willing to accept the nomination. --khaosworks (talkcontribs) 11:33, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Siva1979, I've added to this discussion with a solution that will hopefully please everyone, and be useful. When you have get a chance, please comment on that talk page. — xaosflux Talk 02:03, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi Siva, sorry i opposed your RfA, i can understand that these are stressfull, especially when things don't go as you hope. I will be happy to give you as many constructive comments as you need to help you develop in a way that would make me support you next time around. Hello! Don't lose heart that your latest RfA didn't succeed! If you require some assistance when you decide to go or are nominated again then please let me know and I will do what I can. Regards,  (aeropagitica)   (talk)  22:55, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Sorry I was unable to do more for the RFA. I was on break as I have been very busy in real life. I honestly wished I could have done more than just nominate, but we can't change the past now can we? Anyway, better luck next time. The Gerg 20:13, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Removing the uncategorized tags

Hi, please don't remove the {{uncategorized}} tags from articles unless you categorize the article. Having a cleanup category or a stub category isn't enough, otherwise you'd only need to have Special:Uncategorizedpages, which doesn't distinguish between them. - Bobet 13:55, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Mrinalini Mata

Thanks, again! Medtopic 16:55, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

HI. what ARE you all DOING? removing the article count? Wikipedia has thousands of new visitors every day and now there is no info straight up to suggest the size of wikipedia. While the number of articles is clearly not as important as the quality it is always good no know how the project is epxanding even daily. I SERIOUSLY suggest they change it back. I know that one of the first things that attracted me to wikipedia was seeing how many articles and the sheer size of it in figures which made me very curious to explore it becoming interetsed in the process. If I thought it looked like a standard encyclopedia I probably wouldn't have bothered looking at it. What can we do to make them return it. I also believe if they do not care about the article count at least start improving articles to feature status . While I strongly agree that Wikipedia should strongly focus on improving quality of articles which is above anyhting else it now looks as if you all couldn't give a toss whether wiki expands or not. Remember that wikipedia has only got so far because of new entries and targets.James Janderson 08:55, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

File:Scarlettanager99.jpg Hello, Siva, and thank you for the support on my recent RfA. (Glad to see no problems...:D) The final tally was 72/1/0, and I have now been entrusted with the mop. I'll be tentative with the new buttons for a while, and certainly welcome any and all feedback on how I might be able to use them to help the project. All the best, and thanks again! — Deville (Talk) 00:46, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

RfA nom

Once again, I am humbled that such a well-liked and respected Wikipedian would consider me worthy of the mop, I must turn in down for the forseable future. I am way to busy in my real life to do much good in terms of cleaning up and I would rather spend what little time I have on the project to be spent working on what I want to do, not what I feel obligated to do. I really don't want to go through an RfA process and lie about all of the admin work I would do just to get some extra buttons. There may be a time when I'm up for it, but for now, no. To paraphrase Dick Cheney, if nominated, I won't accept, if elected, I will not serve.

If you are itching to say thank you for the welcome, go to Hot dog variations and add or update however the hell they make hot dogs in your part of the world. Cheers. youngamerican (ahoy-hoy) 02:36, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Admin coaching

Hi Siva. Would you be interested? I saw your post on the Esperanza Propsed programs place. Deckiller and I were discussing it. It's still on my talk page. Regards, Blnguyen | rant-line 09:23, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I'd be happy to do so, although it will be "unauthorised" so to speak as I am no longer a member of Esperanza ( left July 21, see Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Archive12). I think Deckiller would be happy to help. I was thinking that hardly anybody knows about image policy, so being skillful in that area is a big bonus. Thanks, Blnguyen | rant-line 01:16, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Thanks!

Thank you very much for your comments on my recent Request for Adminship. The request was ultimately unsuccessful - which wasn't entirely surprising - and so I'll be taking special care to address the concerns that were raised before running again.

I'm anxious to improve my work generally, even if it doesn't result in a future adminship, and so please don't hesitate to leave any further feedback or comments at my talk page. Thanks!

Though most Google hits turn up for Romuald Bocco, these are mostly from the article I created with the spelling mistake intact. With your okay, I think it would be most sensible to redirect both Romuald Bocco and Romuald Boko to Romuald Boco, as established by ESPN and the BBC. How does this sound?
