Brendan Murphy (artist)[edit]

Hi there and welcome to Wikipedia, I know you are new and probably unaware that Wikipedia has a manual of style policy that we follow when editing articles, so I wanted to touch base with you and let you know that we do have a manual of style to follow when editing. In this edit I made to the Brendan Murphy article that you created, I pointed out that Wikipedia does not refer to people by their first name, and provided the link to the policy WP:SURNAME so you could read and see that the edit I made was correct in changing the name. For some reason, you went ahead and put the incorrect use of first name back in the article. If you could just take a quick a look at the policy I pointed out, you will see it begins by stating: "After the initial mention of any name, the person should generally be referred to by surname only". If you still have a problem with changing to last name, or anything else for that matter, please just leave a message on my talk page, and I'll do what I can to help you. Hi. Thanks for your help and apologies for the misunderstanding. I didn't realise you edited the post, I thought it automatically changed it, for some reason, or that something went wrong when I posted it. I wanted to ask for your help in choosing and uploading a picture of Brendan Murphy. If you could tell me what are the different ways of doing it? I did read the guidelines but it's like reading a law book :) I am still not clear of how to do it without breaking any rules. Thanks in advance Siri2011 (talk) 08:58, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, for not replying sooner, because I never knew you left me a message. If you ask someone else a question on your talk page, you should ping the user. That means placing ping|user name inside {{ }} and the editor gets a notification and knows they have been mentioned by you. As for the question about uploading image, I've never been involved in uploading images and while I do have some understanding, I'm afraid I might mess something up. The best thing to do is ask at the treehouse where editors who have experience with images and uploading, and copyright etc. should be able to help you. Cmr08 (talk) 03:56, 22 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again Siri2011, just seen the message you left me. Yes, it's ok to ask me questions on my talk page, you can ask me as many questions as you want. As for the part about reviewing, yes I looked at the page and did some cleanup as others also did, but I'm not a reviewer, so as far as I can tell, I can't remove those reviewer templates. Usually a reviewer will check the article and see what tags, if any, have to be added. The best thing you can do here, is go to the teahouse, and ask the question about removing that tag. Someone there should be able to help you, maybe even a reviewer will see the question and check out your article. Again, feel free to ask me any questions you want on my talk page, that's what it's there for and I certainly don't mind trying to help. Cmr08 (talk) 06:32, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
