Hi, I need your help on the above mentioned articles. MrOllie removes the links all the time without explanation, when i talk to him he doesn't reply. I assume he doesn't even know how hard it is to keep the Taharas Hamishpocha and that that link is for an online calendar which could help people. David Friedland
I am assuming that you wrote all or part of the David Friedland bio. I am David Friedland The bio omits my accomplishments as a lawyer and legislator and -it fails to document the "good". It focuses only on the sensational and negative parts of my life. No mention is made of some of the famous cases I tried, including the "one Man One Vote" case that changed NJ History, My defense of the West Point Cadets, nor the many laws I sponsored and helped pass, including Consumer Protection and Labor Laws and others. The bio omits my community and family life- The bio is not complete nor fairly balanced. I understand that the authors were not writing a complete bio, however this bio does not include any of the good things I worked for and accomplished ( revision of NJ Government via One Man One Vote- probably the most significant event in NJ Modern History) ([email protected]) David —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.244.189.223 (talk) 11:24, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- I have not contributed to that article, but I think you have a fair point. I have placed a {{NPOV}} tag on the article and there is currently an effort to introduce the content that you mentioned. -shirulashem (talk) 17:10, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Can't you remove the edit history up until yesterday? My early are edits are too trivial and numerous to decipher. Rzdemarco (talk) 15:09, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I understand what you are requesting. "Edit history" refers to the previous versions of the article that are no longer in the current article. To "remove edit history" would mean that you want to remove any record of content that existed in the past but is no longer in the current article. This can be done, but there needs to be a compelling reason for it (i.e., WP:LIBEL). I'm not sure if that's what you want. However, what I think you are asking for is for any content that was added before yesterday to be deleted. If that's the case, then that can't be done. You'd have to manually edit the article. Let me know if that helps. -shirulashem (talk) 15:38, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Michael Murphy
You are exactly right, the MOS discourages putting images in the infobox except the individual, for country and possibly branch of service and for recipients of High military decorations (I don't like the term award for the MOH) such as the MOH or Victoria cross the award image is displayed beside or below the image of the individual in the infobox. There are over 3000 recipients of the MOH and only 4 (not counting lists) are rated as good articles. These seemed like a good place to start so I am going to try and get the Iraq War and Afghanistan war recipients to good article or better so I needed to change a few things to get it to pass. If you watch this article of the next week or so you will see a lot of info added (and possibly removed if I can't find a reference) in order to do the things necessary for it to pass a good article review. I hope this helps but please let me know if you have any questions. --Kumioko (talk) 16:45, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I thought it was prudent since the criticism section is all sourced. I thought I'd seen this being done somewhere else. Thank you for being attentive, though! Shoplifter (talk) 19:14, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
I know it looks that way, but the account that I unblocked was User:Waxploitation - they put up an unblock request to be renamed to Barkleydoom, but eventually they asked to be renamed as User:Tiltshift ([1]). All of the old account's edits will move to the contribs of the new account, so it looks as if they've always been called Tiltshift. The reason that it says "Welcome, Tiltshift" on their talkpage is that the template is using {{PAGENAME}} which automatically picks up the current username of the user. Sources
* Socolescu family (Paris, Bucureşti, Ploieşti). * Manuscript of Toma T. Socolescu memoirs, written from 1949 to 1952 (Romanian). * Photographs of the Socolescu family.

Reliable Sources On Jordan Palmer Activist Bio
I see where I can improve the NPOV. I will work on that on my next attempt at editing.
I have questions on the sources.
I think the PageOneKentucky site may not be a good source for the name changes because PageOneKentucky.com does not substantiate the claim. I should have noticed that. I will look for a better source.
Can you tell me which of these was the problem?
In documenting Palmer's business activities, I sourced KY Secretary of State, the Better Business Bureau, public notice filed in Portfolio.com (a Condé Nast Publications, Inc.- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cond%C3%A9_Nast_Portfolio). These all seem like valid secondary sources.
I used a biography from an association that Palmer was a member of the board of directors to demonstrate his claim to be a successful operator of business. I am not sure what could be a better source for establishing that he made claims to be a successful businessman.
To document claims that he has posed as an attorney, I sourced a web site that made the claim and had posted documentation that backed it.
To demonstrate the claim of suing critics, I sourced a web site that made the claim and posted documentation that backed it.
To substantiate that there were claims of fraud made by his clients, I posted a link that showed dozens of complaints on RipOffReport.com.
I look forward to your feedback and will work on a rewrite that meets the NPOV. Thank you.

Jordan Palmer (social activist)
A user without a user page continues to destroy this article. In his last edit, he cited a report from portfolio.com, another blog created by users. According to their terms and conditions [6]: "You are responsible for ensuring that any material you provide to the Website or post on a bulletin board or forum or elsewhere, including but not limited to text, photographs and sound, does not violate the copyright, trademark, trade secret or any other personal or proprietary rights of any third party or is posted with the permission of the owner(s) of such rights." So this is yet another blog, which the user no doubt created. Wikipedia is not a forum to wage personal wars is it?.
Kentucky Secretary of State
A business in bad standing simply means they did not update their yearly officer information, this does not mean the business cannot get in good standing be filing the forms per the Kentucky Sec. of State's Office Website.
PLEASE help me with this! I have contributed to Wikipedia for years and made donations. How can a user with no previous revisions on anything else come in and destroy something? --Kentucky1333 (talk) 04:25, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Yahrzeit candle
I would disagree, the Hebrew is much more prominant and relavent. Almost no one calls it a yortsayt likht but many call it a ner neshama, so much so, when your purchase them, even in the diaspora, they say "נר נשמה" on them not "יאָרצײַט ליכט" - Epson291 (talk) 21:09, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- It also gives the impression that it is only an Ashkenazi practice, which is not true, it is rather simply where the English term originates. - Epson291 (talk) 21:15, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- If your argument is correct, then the name of the article would be "Ner Neshama" and then the article would say that it's also called Yartzeit in Yiddish. But it's not true. When you say "almost no one calls it a yortsayt likht but many call it a ner neshama", are you talking about people who are speaking English? For Hebrew, you are correct. If you do a Google search on "yahrtzeit candle" you get 75,000+ hits. If you do a Google search on "ner neshama" you get 19,000+ hits. And even in those 19,000+ hits, almost all of them say "yahrtzeit candle (ner neshama)". -shirulashem(talk) 21:30, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- So 75,000+ for Yahrtzeit Candle, 19,000+ for Ner Neshama and for "Yortsayt Likht", 10 results. "Yahrzeit candle" is not a Yiddish term, it's English. Granted, the word "yahrzeit" by itself is Yiddish, and an article on Yahrzeit (if there was one), should put the Yiddish before the Hebrew or Ladino, but this is different. And yes, I was talking about English. Epson291 (talk) 02:54, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

- Maybe there's a misunderstanding. I never put in יאָרצײַט ליכט ... I just put in יאָרצײַט, which is the Yiddish way to spell the Yiddish word "Yahrtzeit" that is contained in the English phrase Yahrtzeit Candle. -shirulashem(talk) 19:24, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I was confused by you doing that since the article is on a yahrzeit candle and not Yahrzeit in general. "יאָרצײַט" is/was already contained in the body explaining the etymology of the word, putting "יאָרצײַט" next to "yahrzeit candle" would be if they were equivalent, which they're aren't. - Epson291 (talk) 20:18, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Disputed category tags
Why are you adding disputed category tags to categories? I don't see any explanation, and those tags are usually applied to individual articles. Are you perhaps wishing to nominate the categories for deletion? Please explain. Will Beback talk 06:54, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
- From what I can see, there is rampant violation of WP:BLPCAT. In order for a person to be categorized by religious beliefs or sexual orientation, their religious beliefs or sexual orientation have to be relevant to the subject's notability or public life, AND the subject has to self-identify with the religious beliefs or sexual orientation. For example, the Steve Ballmer article says that he's Jewish, but there's nothing to indicate that it has anything to do with his notability. Therefore, I removed Category:American Jews from his article. Do I intend to nominate some of the categories for deletion? Absolutely. But that will take me a bit more time to put together. And even after some of the categories are deleted, the remaining ones still should have these tags. I personally believe that many (if not most) editors are unaware of WP:BLPCAT, and the whole raison d'être of these tags is to be put on categories that are based on religious beliefs or sexual orientation as a reminder to editors that they need to be cautious about putting articles into these categories. I'm not sure what you mean by these tags being usually applied to individual articles, since these are category tags. -shirulashem(talk) 13:40, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
- I was mistaken about the category tags, but the text of the tag makes it specific:
- The inclusion of certain people in this category is disputed. Please see the relevant discussions on the talk pages of those individual articles. Consider rewording the inclusion criteria of this category if they are unclear.
- Who are the individuals whose inclusion is disputed? Where have you commented on the talk pages? The disputed category tag is menat for specific dipsutes, not general ones. I really don't think that plastering two tags across dozens of categories with no discussion on any page is helpful. Lastly, if there are large numbers of violations of BLPCAT then mybe the policy needs to be written to better describe actual practice. I suggest you either initiate a discusion in a relevant policy page, or delete the tags. Will Beback talk 19:45, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
- I was mistaken about the category tags, but the text of the tag makes it specific:
- You are correct that the {{Categorization of people disputed}} tag does not apply to all the categories. I think I should have started with the {{Subjective category}} only and then put the other tag on the category if there were specific problems. I'm not quite sure why my edits were unhelpful drive-by tagging. Can you help me identify in what ways the tags have caused a problem? Also, I don't understand the suggestion that a policy might need to be re-written to reflect current practice. Just because editors don't follow the policy, it doesn't mean the policy is wrong. I think the problem is that not enough editors know the policy (which I'm trying to address by the {{Subjective category}} tag). -shirulashem(talk) 01:43, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Thomas Jefferson and slavery
I believe the Thomas Jefferson and slavery article and the On Slavery section in the main Thomas Jefferson article have been harmonized. The Harmony cite is not neccessary any more and I believe the Harmony cite should be removed. {Cmguy777 (talk) 19:15, 20 August 2009 (UTC)}
I have removed the Harmonize cite because the Thomas Jefferson and slavery has been harmonized with the On Slavery section. All of the main points in the On Slavery section have been incorporated into Thomas Jefferson and slavery. {Cmguy777 (talk) 16:54, 21 August 2009 (UTC)}
I have removed the image you added to Trevor Soar as two fair-use images showing a person cannot be included in the same article. In this case, the current infobox image shows more than the other image, showing his rank, medals, and more of the body than the other image. As such I can't see the justification for its inclusion and it should be deleted. Regards, Woody (talk) 12:13, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Proposed compromise aimed at consensus at WP:NJ
Hi, Shirulashem. As you may remember, way back in August I started a thread at WikiProject New Jersey to discuss the "Federal, state, and county representation" subsections in New Jersey municipality articles, as User:Nightscream and I had a substantial disagreement on that subject. Education Task Force - The conversion of the former WikiProject Education is New Jersey has been completed. New Jersey education-related articles are now supported by the Education task force. The project banner has been updated to fully support the task force with independent importance ratings. No More Comments - A proposal at the Village Pump has resulted in the deprecation of comments subpages. These were usually found at Talk:Article title/Comments and contained little more than assessment notes. These pages were not widely watched, and are often a hidden location for vandalism and BLP violations. WPNJ has 104 articles that used these pages. A complete list of them, along with their contents, can be viewed at Wikipedia:WikiProject New Jersey/Deprecation of comments. Municipality template compromise; School Districts (almost) complete | New WPNJ members
Legislative templates in municipal articles - A rather lengthy discussion ran from the end of August until the end of October regarding the use of our legislative district templates in articles about local municipalities. Many WPNJ members commented on the concept, and a proposed compromise seems to have been reached. The templates will require some adjustments to fit the new wording, but should result in more directly relevant sections about County, State, and Federal representation in our articles on cities, towns, villages, townships, and boroughs. Hopefully, more dicussions like this can result is some kind of Manual of Style to bring greater standardization to all of these articles. School District articles now comprehensive - WPNJ Founder Alansohn recently reported that almost all of New Jersey's school districts now have articles - "I have created the article for the last missing (non-vocational) school district in the state." Congrats to Alansohn, who I am sure would love more members at the Education task force to help maintain these articles! |

Over the past few months - I've addressed your comments as well as the comments of quite a few other editors on the article. The article is now going through Featured Article review and I was wondering if you would be interested in leaving your comments. Thank you - Deltawk (talk) 06:10, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

New Statistics Table There has been an upgrade to the WP 1.0 bot that updates our project's summary table. The new table lists all page classes including Portal-class, Redirect-class, and Disambig-class. We now have a better picture of the scope of the WikiProject and the pages that we cover. New York Times to charge for access The New York Times is an invaluable resource for properly referencing articles, but especially due to its extensive archives and coverage of New Jersey issues. The announcement that metered content will be started in 2011 has the potential to make article sourcing much more difficult. It also causes a need to update linked sources in articles before all of the NYT links go dead. Any link can be archived on demand by using WebCite. We can help avoid dead links by archiving any article sources from the NYT. |

BLP Issue Boils Over There are discussions all over the 'pedia about deleting close to 50,000 unreferenced Biographies of Living People. We won't get into a rehash here, but let's just look at what we can do. There is a new item on the project task list for sourcing BLPs. All articles that are in both Category:People from New Jersey and Category:All unreferenced BLPs are now available on this work list. These articles need to be sourced, PRODded, or sent to AfD. An ounce of prevention Unreferenced BLPs are one of the catgories regularly listed in the WPNJ Cleanup listing. New articles are also a prime location to find articles that do not yet have references. You can keep an eye on the New Articles list to help prevent the workload from getting any larger. Can we do more? There are bots that will automatically add the WPNJ Project Banner to all articles in our designated categories if we have consensus to request it. Join the discussion here. |

In NJ, politics means article updates | Help Wanted
New Leaders in NJ Government Over the past 2 weeks, new legislators have been sworn in, the legislature has new leadership, the 55th Governor of New Jersey has been inaugurated, and we have our first Lt. Governor. All new members of the Legislature have at least stub articles, and many of the templates have been updated. Updating templates Many New Jersey articles utilize stadardized templates to convey information. With elections happening as often as they do in this state, January is always a good time to review these templates and update them with new information. Does your town or county have new elected officials? It's maintainance time on many of our articles on municipalities and counties as well. |

Editor's news Must have been some winter holiday season in New Jersey, because the project talk page has been unusually quiet. I thought with all that snow, many of us would be inside and doing things here at WP. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are enjoying a healthy and happy 2010!! - Jim Miller See me | Touch me

April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive
WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of April. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 200. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. Hope we can see you in April. |

Grab some glory, and a barnstar
Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 15:20, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 21:13, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
