The article The works of Michael Gorman has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A mix of WP:PROMO and personal reflection on the author's works.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The works of Michael Gorman

[edit]

I don't mean to discourage you from working on WP articles, but you may want to reconsider continuing to adjust The works of Michael Gorman. Currently, there's a discussion going on that recommends that we merge some of that information into Michael Gorman (librarian), and then reirect the "works" article. I agree with this merge proposal, and think it likely that it will go through. The fact is, we don't really allow articles like this one. We sometimes have bibliography lists, but all those do is give a full publication list, sometimes with brief notes about awards that any given publication has won. Any information about general themes in Gorman's work should go into his biography page. If any of the works have received significant coverage in multiple, independent sources, then they could individually have their own articles. Plus, a lot of the language in the "works" article is somewhere between original research and promotional. Thus, since it seems highly likely that that information is going to be mostly removed, with a small portion added to the biography article, I'm worried that you're basically putting in a lot of effort for no reason. If you want to contest the merger, the place to do so is at Talk:Michael Gorman (librarian)#Merger proposal; however, to do so, you'll need to explain why that article merits a stand-alone article based on Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You can also ask here on this page if you have any questions. Qwyrxian (talk) 00:15, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
