Photographic Communication moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Photographic Communication, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Deleted page[edit]

Hi, I saw that your page on photographic communication was deleted because it was seen as promotional. Looking at the content, it looks like you used a very casual tone with writing, which can sometimes be taken as promotional. You also used more of an essay style and used point of view terms. Point of view terms are ones that are subjective to the reader and are essentially personal opinions or viewpoints. For example, the word "luckily" is something that can be interpreted differently. Some people may see the various camera terms as a good thing, as it helps them know the difference between the various items whereas another may feel overwhelmed by the amount of terms and not see this as lucky.

The lead paragraph was also a little vague - your article was titled photographic communication, but this looked like it was more about teaching people the different parts of the camera and different terms used in photography. For someone coming in, the term "photographic communication" would give off the impression that the article would be about how photography is used as a medium of communication. (As seen with this definition.) It looks like some classes on photography communication start with defining the various parts of the camera and types of lenses, but keep in mind that this may be done in classes in order to teach people how to communicate using photography as opposed to being a definition of photographic communication. With this in mind, the lead should more than likely be something along these lines:

Photographic communication is the use of photography to communicate messages, ideas, or information. To communicate, photographers use different lenses and camera features to depict their subject or background in the desired format.

Granted that is fairly short, but kind of gets to the point. Now, however, if the subject of the article was meant to be about how to teach people the different types of photography information or help them learn the different types of jargon, then that's something else entirely. That makes the page more of a "how to" guide, which isn't really what Wikipedia is meant to do. Essentially, Wikipedia is meant to be informative and educational, but it's not supposed to teach people how to do things, if that makes any sense. The topic matter would also be somewhat redundant to the existing articles on photography.

My recommendation would be to retool your focus to instead write on the topic of photographic communication as a method of communicating ideas using photography, since this does look like it's a widely covered topic. Also, I would only work on your draft in your userspace - it should not be moved until it's finished or almost entirely finished, as otherwise it can run the risk of getting deleted as it did with your first draft. It can also get heavily edited by others. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it can make it more difficult than it needs to be since then you'd have to kind of re-align your mindset to incorporate this other information. Copyright and plagiarism[edit]

Hello, I received a notification that you had posted material that closely paraphrased or took material verbatim from content that had previously been published elsewhere to your article. This is seen as a copyright issue and plagiarism, even if you were to include the original source as a citation. Always be careful when writing article content - a good way to avoid doing this is to take notes while reading and write your article from those notes.

Unless the material is explicitly marked as falling into the public domain or was released under a compatible Creative Commons license, it should be assumed that the content is copyrighted in a way that would prohibit it from being used verbatim elsewhere. It's always best to write things in your own words, as this can help prevent issues like this from arising.   • I just saw that you had posted this live as well as to the draftspace and kept reposting the content over and over again or at least kept reposting content taken from other sources. You absolutely cannot and I stress, cannot do this. If someone removes content, please contact me so that I can look over the material and give you advice.
