Hi Seryo93! Your user page User:Seryo93/RDFR is categorized in some article categories. After examining the source code I now suspect that these categories are included by one (ore several) of the templates used on your page. How could we solve this problem? I hope you understand that it´s suboptimal when articles and user pages are mixed up. Chaddy (talk) 21:46, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Supreme soviet of Russia (1988).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Supreme soviet of Russia (1988).jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 09:06, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Supreme Soviet

[edit]

Your changes of the translation do not make sense. Copy-paste moves are prohibited, you should initiate a proposal for the move first at talk. And still, I can't see why such a move would be needed. The translation 'Supreme Soviet' was much more frequent at least till the late 1980s, as per google books. You wouldn't translate the country's name as Russian Council Federative Socialist Republic, now would you?MIaceK (woof!) 11:14, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I will revert them. Seryo93 (talk) 11:36, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Stories Project

[edit]

Hi!

My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. I'm chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who make and use Wikipedia have so much to share.

I'm scouring user pages looking for inspiring, motivating and interesting stories of how Wikipedia has affected the lives of people. I'm asking questions like "How has Wikipedia changed your life?", "What's the most interesting story you have about Wikipedia?" and "Has Wikipedia ever surprised you?"

Last year, we used the annual fundraiser as a way to show the world who it is who actually writes Wikipedia. We featured editors from Brazil, Ukraine, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, India, United States and England. This campaign was a huge success, resulting in the most financially successful fundraising campaign ever. It was also a campaign that stayed true to the spirit of Wikipedia, educating the public that this free top-5 website is created by volunteers like you and I.

This year we want to highlight more Russian-language Wikipedia editors, so I am in the process of planning a trip to Russia to interview editors.

If you or someone you know (or have heard about) has been positively affected by Wikipedia, or have something interesting to say about Wikipedia I'd very much like to hear about it!

Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project, or if you know someone else with whom I should speak.

Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, please ask! I will answer as soon as I can. I apologize for any poor translation of this letter, I am using Google-translate. I hope it makes you laugh :)

Thank you for your time,

Victor Grigas

RfC

[edit]

I used this one as a model: Talk:Yulia Lipnitskaya#RfC: Article title.

I think we should not suggest any dictionary definitions to people.

I also added more options, taken mostly from the earlier move discussion. (I think the only version that not been suggested was "Re-adoption ...". I found it on carnegiecouncil.org.)

If you don't like my addition, you are welcome to revert to the 3 options you proposed yourself.

I've already explained to the other user about this and that he is welcome to re-add what he wrote as his own comments. (To re-add it so that it was clear that these were his own comments and sign them.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 17:51, 6 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I am amazed by the not available neutrality of all articles about the crisis in Ukraine. There are to many right wing Ukrainian members around on Wikipedia. --Wrant (talk) 14:47, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your interest in Russia-Ukraine page.

[edit]

Hi Seryo; Your edits at the Russia page were of interest. At present, the Ukraine page version includes mention of the international 2014 Geneva Pact, while the Russia page parallel version is excluding this mention, so I added it on the Russia page version to keep both Pages consistent. As soon as I did it, User:Mo xy felt differently and immediately reverted apparently opposed to it and wanting to exclude it from the Russia page version while including on the Ukraine page version. It seems like it should be mentioned in both places. Could you glance at this. FelixRosch (talk) 14:52, 2 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There are different opinions on Geneva Pact significance in relation to annexation. While it's relevant to general crisis, it's unclear whether it affects Crimea. Some say it does (because Crimea belongs to what is defined as internationally recognised borders of Ukraine) - but some say it doesn't, because Crimea topic was not explicitly touched at Geneva talks. Ukrainian section is called "Russian intervention" (i.e. it encompasses not only Crimea, but also Eastern Ukraine unrests), therefore Geneva pacts anyway apply there. Russian section is called "annexation of Crimea" (abeit I think, we should left small amount of text in Russian Federation section and move "Annexation" section to History of Russia (1992–present), to stay in line with form-of-government-based periodization), so aforementioned dispute (does Geneva applies to Crimea or not) arises. I'll give further comment later this day. Bests, Seryo93 (talk) 15:21, 2 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting notes. Do you have any thoughts about the idea for adding a new subsection to the Ukraine Page with the possible title of "Continuing Conflict Over Crimea and Clashes in Eastern Ukraine". The current referendum schedules in multiple Eastern Ukraine cities on independence seems to indicate some use here. FelixRosch (talk) 17:35, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

BRD on Ukraine Page

[edit]

To Seryo93; Upon request from Evergreen, I have initiated a BRD on the issue of the back-and-forth editing on the Ukraine page which you had previously edited. Please note that during the BRD you ought not to make further edits to the subsection on Intervention until Consensus is established following BRD rules. Good editing. Annexation of Crimea

[edit]

Hi Seryo, for a month Russian officials denied military infolvement in Crimea before its official annexation by Russia. Sure, Russia still differentiates between between troops and "local sefl defense forces". But now it openly admits military infolvement before the referendum itself. Sending troops without insignia to Crimea was an important part of Russian tactics. Why do you want to delete it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.0.104.206 (talk) 08:10, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

thanks! what page/paragraph? Darkstar1st (talk) 09:01, 13 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

this article has the formation at 1721? this is the same country as Kiev Rus' ? Darkstar1st (talk) 16:21, 13 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Darkstar1st: Not quite same, but, just like Kievan Rus', encompassed  Russia,  Ukraine,  Belarus (that was my answer that they were single country in the past, both in Kievan Rus' and in the Russian Empire). And Rus. Empire viewed itself as a heir of Kievan Rus'. Hence "Russia", which is derived from Greek Ρωσία (Rus')). Seryo93 (talk) 16:29, 13 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
ok, so the first usage of the term Russia in the name of a country was in 1721 correct? Darkstar1st (talk) 16:41, 13 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not quite that date (in fact, sometimes earlier). This topic is covered in Rus (name)#From Rus' to Russia. Seryo93 (talk) 06:04, 14 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
