Please do not edit other people's User Pages

If you have a problem with an image, deal with the image. And please spare us the snippy comments. Lou Sander 05:07, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To be fair, you were left a message about the image before. You ignored it. EVula // talk // // 05:15, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well Done

Good Work it only took you 12 seconds to delete the comment that i put on jimbos user page..... you obviously don't have much of a life do you.....(58.107.165.52)

Or I just happened to see it faster than anyone else. i said 06:30, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • And less than a minute until a response to the above comment......get a life!
Well, I do have a bright orange bar that pops up to alert me that someone has edited my talk page. i said 06:34, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • If thats the case for your talk page, whats your excuse for jimbos page?
It was on my watchlist. I happened to refresh my watchlist shortly after you edited his page. i said 06:37, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you - my point proven - you don't have a life!

Have a Nice Day, and remeber jimbo wales is an up-himself pig, so don't act like he's a hero, he wouldn't piss on you of you were on fire! have fun! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.107.165.52 (talk) 06:38, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well

See i think my comment on his talk page raises a valid point abour resourcing. Editors use all of their time protecting jimbos page, when they should be protecting other pages which have important info on it. For example, if i was to write "Alan Carpenter resigns as WA Premier" on Alan Carpenter's page, it would take some time before it was deleted, and i think that comment is much more devestating than saying jimbo is up-himself. don't you agree? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.107.165.52 (talk) 06:44, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but I doubt that would happen. A good deal of pages are watchlisted by at least somebody, and the RC patrollers get a lot of it. But you are correct. If every page was watched as vigilantly for vandalism as Jimbo's talk page, the Encyclopedia would be much better. i said 22:29, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You

Thank you, really whats the point in protecting jimbos page?? thanks anyay for your acknowledgement - a lot of editors wouldn't even speak to me! thanks again. (58.107.165.52 01:56, 3 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]

You're welcome. And by protecting, do you mean reverting it at all, or defending it more rigorously than other pages? If you meant the first, then just because vandalism and such should be removed. If you meant the second one, as they said on his talk page to you, his user and user talk pages get a lot of traffic from vandals because of who he is, so more people have it watchlisted. i said 02:07, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your services are clearly needed...

Suggestion

I'd suggest backing off of Lou Sander's talk page. Yes, it sucks, and yes, I think you're in the right to be upset about his comments, but any responses from you will only serve to exacerbate the situation. Bleh. EVula // talk // // 05:40, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Query

Just asking, why do you loathe the existence of templates like {{vangel}} in the template namespace? ~ Sebi [talk] 00:35, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Right, I see now. ~ Sebi [talk] 04:18, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind

Please tell me how to complete that last remianing thing. Sorry the response took so long.--Angel David 00:42, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation

I mean that it is watched and monitored more closely than other pages and because the general public cannot really be mislead by vandalism on jimbos page (beacause it does not contain important information), but (the public) can be significantly mislead by vandalism on other articles.

People use wikipedia articles for info and if the articles are vandalised then the info is incorrect and this can have devestating effects (especially on uni/college students doing exams or assignments) whereas if jimbos page is vandalised it doesn't have devestating effects (unless someone is doing an assignment on him!).

Therefore i feel that rather than trying to protect jimbo as vigorously as everyone does, they should just leave his page til last to fix, and worry about the important articles first.

Cheers!

(58.107.165.52 00:57, 4 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I agree; Jimbo's page is much less important than the mainspace. However, we all cannot have every single page watchlisted to see when they are vandalized. A good portion of pages are watchlisted by people who are interested in the subject. People have Jimbo's talk page watchlisted because it receives a lot of traffic from vandals. So really, it is only because we know there is a large chance of vandalism on his page, we therefore have it watchlisted, and revert it faster. Really, most articles that are watchlisted are pretty well protected from vandalism, but it's not perfect. i said 04:21, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Username change:

It's weird. I originally made "Halpern, a.d.", but didn't like the lowercase "a.d.", so I tried to create "Halpern, A.D.". However, the similarity between the two prevented me from creating "Halpern, A.D.", so I created "adhalpern" so I could usurp the name and change it to "Halpern, A.D.". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Halpern, a.d. I think pronouns are being confusing here. But Fyslee removed the bar, saying they were expressly forbidden. They are not forbidden, they are frowned upon. In addition, it is bad practice to edit other users' user page unless it is expressly violating policy, or you have permission. So, I reverted his removal, because they are not forbidden, and it's better to ask you. I asked you to remove it, and you did, so all is well. i said 00:59, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Monobook/Wikidudeman

I don't know what you mean by "my speedy function". I collect scripts, I don't make them. My "speedy" file is actually something that I made and used when Azatooth's was down. I now use "User:AzaToth/twinklespeedy.js" instead. A good idea would be simply to import User:Wikidudeman/Hodgepodge completely, See it's page for details. As far as NOT notifying users, This is possible however I don't advise it. It's customary to notify users when you nominate their pages for speedy deletion. Username Change, 2

The problem I'm facing is this:

I'm not allowed to create the account "Halpern, A.D.", because each time I attempt to, I get this message: "The name "Halpern, A.D." is very similar to the existing account "Halpern, a.d." (contributions • logs • user creation entry). Please choose another name, or request an administrator to create this account for you. " I've already requested an account creation, but was declined, and the usurpation/name change was declined also, so I just can't seem to make the account...

Any ideas as to what I should do? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Halpern, a.d. (talkcontribs) 19:48, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's a sort of Catch 22. Whenever I try to have an admin create it, I'm told to usurp it, and whenever I try to usurp it, I'm told to have an admin create it...

Thanks for your help. I currently have a pending username change request and user creation request...let's see how it goes.

Mass nom

I lumped them together because they all seemed to be related, with the elems feeding the middle school. It was my first mass nom, so I'll steer clear of those. J-ſtanTalkContribs 16:15, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Username Changes, Usurpation and Redirecting Userpages

Hi, Just a quick note, you've advised Rambutan that deleting redirects to his new user and talk pages would be permitted after he was renamed, we don't normally do this, as it can cause great confusion amongst users who don't know about the Rename Log, as well as leaving a significant amount of redlinks on pages which can give the impression the user has left the project. Unless there are mitigating circumstances, then we wouldn't normally delete these redirects. Hopefully this will prevent any future confusion where a rename clerk has advised something that administrators won't routinely carry out. Nick 12:50, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

However, since I had a username change on the basis that it could be deleted, could you do it, please? Porcupine (prickle me! · contribs · status) 15:11, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the development of this issue. It appears that user was found to be a sockpuppet, and has been blocked indef. I'm not familiar with that case, but I trust the admins and bureaucrats who recognize the sock. Anyway thought you'd like to know. ArielGold 20:11, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I demand pictures!

[2] I went to one of these in Aspen one year, what an amazing sight! I have a ton of photos from it, I should scan a few in and upload them. ArielGold 01:31, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. I decided that I should take some pictures of Fiesta so that I could upload them. I only thought that the last three days, so I took as many as I could. Fortunately it didn't get blown out, like it was supposed to. Ironically, I was just thinking as I sat down that I need to create a commons account soon so that I can upload them. However, I have loads of homework I should be doing, so I'll do it sometime this week hopefully. I went through the commons ballooning pictures, and there are none of the Albuquerque Fiesta. I was shocked. It seems I shall be the first. I also want to wait and register the name on commons with the name I (hopefully soon) decide to be renamed to here. I'm liking Soleil now. i said 01:49, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re : AfD/Raven Magwood

The main concern was centered around Conflict of Interest issues. Secondary sources are noted, but consensus in the AfD agree that they are deemed not significant enough to mitigate COI. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 03:32, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Looking at the merit of sources, one a school newsletter, one radio, and one in print media. The radio source reads like a press release, and is written in a rather promotional tone. Only the Greenville News article qualifies as an independent secondary source, but even so we definitely need more than just one source to have its notability well-established rather than touching borderline. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 04:02, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About "Civility"...

Well, I(User Wilhelmina Will) guess you're right on that. I(User Wilhelmina Will have a problem with having a rather quick temper, and I(User Wilhemlina Will) need to teach myself to control it. As for not reverting edits a user made to their own talkpage or userpage, tell that to WharthogDemon. Wilhelmina Will 03:05, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Various redirects to Busted

Hi there. Just to let you know, I've reverted a number of redirects you created to Busted from various album or song articles (Sleeping with the Light On, Air Hostess, etc). As far as I can see, all of these easily pass WP:MUSIC, as they are all major-label album releases or have charted in a major national chart (the UK Singles Chart being extremely notable). Don't get me wrong - I'm no Busted fan (indeed, I can'tcouldn't stand them!), but I have no doubt that these articles pass notability guidelines. Cheers, DWaterson 21:29, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe having a less than #1 spot on a specific genre chart grants automatic notability. They only contain that information at any rate. I'll probably redirect them again sometime in the future because they contain very little content, or AfD them if you disagree and revert. i (talk) 21:52, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
