October 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Puducherry has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://missionsaveearth.blogspot.com/2009/09/2-youths-on-global-warming-world-tour.html (matching the regex rule \bblog(?:cu|fa|harbor|mybrain|post|savy|spot|townhall)?\.com\b). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Disambiguation link notification for February 12[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bharath English High School, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Doctors and District Judge (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Schools in Puducherry[edit]

Hi Selvamrpr. I'm afraid that I've reverted your list of schools at Puducherry. I understand what you are trying to do here, but this isn't the way to go about it. Wikipedia cannot single out a single school for mention, which is why I originally reverted your inclusion of the link to Bharath English High School. However, Wikipedia is not a directory, and articles should not include lists of various institutions which are not considered noteworthy enough for articles to be created (there is a way round this which I have gone into below). I realise that you've worked hard on the article on the school, and understand your desire to have articles linked to it, but I'm afraid there is no easy way round this.

The problem is that Wikipedia in India is not as developed as it is in places like the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Canada and Australia. In those countries it is very common to find articles about individual schools, but at this stage it is a rarity in India (no doubt that will change over the years, as more people get access to computers and take an interest in Wikipedia).

The best I can suggest is that there is probably enough material available for an article on Schools in Puducherry, but it would need to discuss the schooling system, and give a brief history of the more noteworthy schools. This could include a link to your own school, and could be summarised in the Puducherry article. However, it would be a lot of work.

An alternative would be to create Schools in Puducherry essentially as a list, similar to List of schools in Manchester or List of schools in Perth, Western Australia. This may prove to be a much easier job (especially as you have already done the legwork in getting a list together). It would need an introduction similar to the two lists I've mentioned, but no longer needs to be titled List of..., provided it isn't purely a list and nothing else (the rules changed a year or so ago). A brief summary (probably taken from the introduction) could be added to the Puducherry article, with a note at the top of the section reading:

If you can get hold of any free images of the schools, even better. They could be used in a similar way to the images in Civil parishes in Cornwall (which again, is essentially a List of... article).

I know this is disappointing and frustrating, but I hope it gives you some way of moving forward. If I can be of any further help, please leave a message on my Talk page (or you can reply here as I will keep your talk page on my watchlist for the next couple of weeks).
