Hello SejalMedia. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:SejalMedia. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=SejalMedia|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Theroadislong (talk) 10:57, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Draft:Saurabh Sudam Tamhane, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "SejalMedia", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Unfortunately you seem to have come to edit Wikipedia with mistaken ideas as to the nature of Wikipedia. The account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to Wikipedia's content policy, and your editing history and your username indicate that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for one person acting in an individual capacity. Therefore the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. If you are interested in making useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of this page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use, and "Your reason here" with the reason why you think unblocking your account will benefit Wikipedia.

Your new username will need to meet our username policy. The reason you give will need to make it clear to an administrator that you understand the reason for your block and that you will make the same kind of mistake again. To save wasting time asking for a name that's already been taken, go to Special:CentralAuth, type your name in the box, and click on the button. If the name is already in use you will see details about the account with that name, and if it isn't in use you'll see a message telling you there's no global account with that name.

If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by first reading guide to appealing blocks and then adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of this page, replacing "Your reason here" with appropriate text. JBW (talk) 12:09, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

@Yamla and @JBW: SejalMedia is a sock of User:Saurabh S Tamhane, who was blocked for promotional editing on 12 December 2018. The edit summary used by Saurabh S Tamhane and the photos uploaded by SejalMedia on Commons have the same title. Additionally, their requested username is the same as Saurabh S Tamhane's. I believe Saurabh Sudam Tamhane is the full name of Saurabh S Tamhane. – DreamRimmer (talk) 13:26, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DreamRimmer: There have been at least two accounts used by this person to post self-promotional spam, Saurabh S Tamhane in 2018 & Sauraabh Sudam Tamhane in 2019. I think there may well have been more. I believe the present account is almost certainly not Saurabh Tamhane in person, but a person contracted by Saurabh Tamhane to promote him. However, whether it's the same person or someone else in their pay isn't really a big issue, because either way they aren't going to be unblocked in order to be able to promote him. JBW (talk) 15:34, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@JBW, I'm pretty confident they are the same person because the word "Sudam" in "Saurabh Sudam Tamhane" likely refers to his father. Being Indian myself, I'm familiar with how Indian names are structured. In my opinion, there is enough evidence to tag this and other accounts as suspected socks for future reference. – DreamRimmer (talk) 15:46, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DreamRimmer: Yes, I agree, and I shall tag them. I have also found two more accounts which are clearly Sauraabh Sudam Tamhane, though one of them hasn't edited. JBW (talk) 15:51, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
