You have the image Image:Cowbell2.gif on your user page; this image is copyrighted and used in the Will Ferrell article under Wikipedia:Fair use. The use on your user page of that image is unlikely to be covered by use however, and as such is probably a Copyright violation. Could you remove the image from your user page? Ian Punnett[edit]

You said on the Ian Punnett talk page that you were the one who emailed a link to Punnett to the Coast-to-Coast AM article in which it said he had politically liberal views. What was the date of that version of the article? I think we might want to make note of this as a citation of Wikipedia. Also, because it gives a clue into his actual political views, it is worthy to be part of the website, though it also may be construed as a self-reference which we try to avoid. Thanks for uploading Image:Lonelyisland.jpeg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. Hey, I don't know if I did something wrong when I upped the lonely island image but in the comments I clearly stated that the image is avb from the thelonelyisland.com under a creative common lisence and it is free to distribute. From their website it says "All materials are copyright © 2000-2005 Snuglar Entertainment. Some of the content may be redistributed, sampled, and remixed under this Creative Commons License." But it doesn't make clear which is full copyright and which can be redistributed. Regardless the creative commons license they picked does not allow for commercial redistribution, and is not compatible with the GFDL. Wikipedia is non-commercial, but the GFDL allows people to use content for commercial reasons as long as they retain the license. That's how places like about.com and the other million mirrors are legal. So, I don't know, If you actually know these people maybe you could get them to release it under gfdl, or the creative commons By-Sa-2.5 license, if they would rather stick with creative commons. They would only have to change the license on this one image, not their whole site or anything, and an email saying that was the case to you would be fine :D Hope it works out! - cohesion★talk 20:59, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of The Usuals[edit]

A tag has been placed on The Usuals requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
