Hi Sarah -- Thanks for your contributions to the articles I Married Wyatt Earp and Glenn Boyer. I can see that you are relatively new to Wikipedia. It can be intimidating at first to learn how to mark up articles, so welcome, and I hope you continue to contribute.

If you want your contributions to be retained, there are couple of really important principles you need to pay attention to: conflict of interest and reliable sources.

Is it correct that you are Glenn Boyer's step-daughter? As a result, I understand you have a natural interest in protecting Glenn's reputation. If so, you ought to disclose this information on the talk pages of articles about him because your edits may create a conflict of interest.

As for sources, virtually none of your edits are supported by references, and some of the changes you've made appear to reveal a bias towards massaging content that you find objectionable, a trait that critics state Glenn also engaged in. For example:

  • In your edit of I Married Wyatt Earp:
    • You added the phrase, "Prior to publication the University of Arizona press vetted the book and had no doubts as to its authenticity or source material." While the university "stood behind the authenticity of the book" there is no evidence they vouched for Glenn's sources. Please provide a source.
    • You extensively modified the lead paragraph with conditional statements that are not supported in the body of the article. The sources cited do not say that his critics "allege", the sources state the critics concerns as factual concerns.
    • You modified "Western researchers" to read "Western researchers and rival authors" but there is no reference supporting that the critics were rival authors or that in addition to critics that rival authors were criticizing his work.
    • You wrote, "Boyer refused to allow them unrestricted access to his personal collection" but do not provide a source.
    • You changed "The article also disclosed that the university press' editor encouraged Boyer to embellish the account." to read "The article also disclosed that the university press' editor encouraged Boyer to embellish the account; though never proved that Boyer had acted upon his suggestions." The source only describes the university's actions. If there is a source that supports Glenn failing to act upon their suggestion, you need to provide a source.
    • To the text, "...he "had a license to say any darned thing I please...[to] lie, cheat, and steal...", you added, "This was a common expression of Boyer's in response to anything from paying his feed bill at the mercantile to stealing Christmas candy from his grandchildren." I'm glad you have memories of Glenn. He sounds like a great step-dad and grandpa. But you need provide a reputable, third-party source for his use of this phrase as a common expression. Otherwise it should be removed.
    • You wrote, "UA Press was forced to return the copy-write of I Married back to Boyer due to their misrepresentation of the work." Again, there is no substantiation that the university misrepresented the work, nor support that they were "forced" to return the copyright. I think the articles shows the shoe is pretty much on the other foot, that Boyer may have misrepresemnted the work as a biography when it is non-fiction.
    • You added, "I Married remains one of the best selling books on the Earp family saga." I think this is true, but you need to add a reference to support this.
  • In the article about your step-dad, Glenn Boyer, you made a number of unsupported changes.
    • You completely deleted well-sourced content about Glenn's contempt for his critics.
    • You added an entire paragraph beginning, "Many of these "critics" claim that Boyer 'made up people'..." Please add this info to the body with a source.
    • You wrote, "Boyer declined to allow unrestricted access" to authors and academics. In fact, Boyer refused them any access at all.
    • You evidence an emotional appeal when you describe the "documentation entrusted to him directly from the families", when this isn't material to the facts.
    • You include Scott Dyke as a "well-known and respected western historian" but he is to the best of my knowledge not a published author.
    • You state that George Miller and the Earps owned the Dexter Saloon in Nome, but the sources I've found say Earp co-owned it with Charles Hoxie.
    • You state that your mother "Jane Candia Coleman" was "a well known western poet and author." Please provide a source.
  • In another large edit to the article about Glenn:
    • You added a substantial amount of content anchored by one reference about a reputed Wyatt Earp gun going up for auction. The reference doesn't support most of the content.
    • To be balanced and fair, you should also cite some of the skeptics about the gun's authenticity.
    • You write at length about the personal relationship between your step-dad and the Earp cousins but don't provide a source, including, for example, "the Earp family also gave Boyer 'trunks full of personal items' ". (You might also consider adding the info about the results of the gun auction to the "Popular Culture" section of the Wyatt Earp article.)  Done
    • You wrote that your mother was a "five time nominee for a Pulitzer Prize in Poetry." The source linked to Glenn's obituary does not support this statement.

I don't have time to break down and clearly identify the problems with the remainder of your edits to the article about your step-dad. Please use the above input as guidance for the changes you need to make if you want your content to be retained. If you need help, please leave a message below, and I'll try to point you in the right direction. You can start by reviewing what a reliable source is.

If you're unable to begin providing sources within a couple of weeks, I'll start reverting your edits.
