Information icon Hello, I'm ElectricFeet. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.

Information icon Hello, I'm ElectricFeet. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you.

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.

Undo of removal of advertising[edit]

Hi SantiagoPalermo, I'm sorry you undid my undo of your edit.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. As such, it deals in verifiable facts. To say that the highest quality versions of this chair come from one country or one manufacturer is an opinion. Unless there is an independent report that has sampled all versions of the chair across the world and has come to this conclusion, it cannot be regarded as a fact.

Additionally, mentioning one specific producer contravenes Wikipedia's rules on not including advertisements in articles. The rules are very clear. You can read them here and here.

I see that every contribution that you have made to Wikipedia (you can see them here) has been to add a reference to the Big BKF company. If you have a personal or financial interest in the company, you might also like to read Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines. Note, in particular, the guidance that: "[Conflict Of Interest] editors are generally advised not to edit affected articles directly, and to propose changes on talk pages instead." See also the section on covert advertising, which explains how in some English-speaking countries, advertising a company on a Wikipedia page may also be regarded as covert advertising and be illegal. Reading How not to be a spammer may be useful too.

I realise that you may be acting entirely in good faith and believe that the "Big BKF" company's chairs are the best, but as the Wikipedia rules on verifiability explain: "Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it."

I noted that there are also other external references to other producers, which I have now removed. I apologise for not spotting them earlier. I also took the opportunity to completely overhaul the article, correcting mistakes and referencing only reputable sources (except in one case, where a source is still needed--I hope you can help if you know the source).

Given that other advertising links have now also been removed, can you now live with the statement that "the butterfly chair continues to be produced by many manufacturers from many countries" and leave it at that?
