Regarding Roylee, thanks for your response, and pretend nothing happened :-) He is just particularly troublesome to clean up after, and now edits from anon IPs. Wizzy 08:31, July 29, 2005 (UTC)

Nobility stubs

Dear Robert: You may not be aware that it is possible (and desirable) to sub-categorize nobility stubs. May I take the liberty of drawing your attention to the following?:

Category:Nobility stubs From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. To add an article to this category, use {{Noble-stub}} instead of {{stub}}.

Please use a more specific template if possible:

British peer or noble, use {{UK-noble-stub}}

European nobility, use {{euro-noble-stub}}

French nobility, use {{France-noble-stub}}

Fijian nobility, use {{Ratu-stub}}

Royalty, use {{royal-stub}}

Best wishes, Staffelde 14:41, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

Re: Roylee

Hi, Robert. I'm terribly sorry for getting back to you this late. This is concerning your clarification over at User talk:Mark Dingemanse/Roylee#rpyle731. I never meant to drag you into it; I merely noted that one of the edits made through an IP usually used by Roylee was to your userpage. I have now removed your userpage from the 'suspect edits' list, since I want to avoid conveying the impression that you have anything to do with this person. Please accept my apologies; you're obviously doing great work here. Enjoy the sunflower and keep it up! Kind regards, — mark 17:36, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, Mark. Not a problem. --Rpyle731talk 07:50, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks and Happy New Year

Firstly, let me wish you a very happy New Year and thank you for all your help in the Milhist Tag & Assess 2007 drive.

Military history service award
For tagging and assessing 250 articles in Tag & Assess 2007, by order of the coordinators I hereby present you with this Military history WikiProject Service Award. --ROGER DAVIES talk 11:13, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Secondly, although the Tag & Assess 2007 drive is now officially closed, you are very welcome to continue tagging and assessing until 31 January 2008. Any articles you tag and assess during this time will be credited fully to your tagging tally for further award purposes.

Thirdly, if you can find the time, it would be good to have your feedback/comments on the drive at the Tag & Assess workshop

Thanks again for your help, --ROGER DAVIES talk 11:13, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

New! BCAD drive from Milhist

Can I invite you to particpate in our new assessment drive? It's strictly for experienced editors and has a degree of friendly competition built-in. It involves re-evaluating around 3500 Milhist B-Class articles to ensure they match our new criteria. As ever, we're offering a range of awards as our way of expressing our thanks. The drive doesn't start until 18:00 (UTC) on March 10 but you can sign up in advance here. It would be great if you can spare the time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

News! Tag & Assess 2008 is coming ...

Milhist's new drive – Tag & Assess 2008 – goes live on April 25 and you are cordially invited to participate. This time, the task is housekeeping. As ever, there are awards galore, plus there's a bit of friendly competition built-in, with a race for bronze, silver and gold wikis! You can sign up, in advance, here. I look forward to seeing you on the drive page! All the best, --ROGER DAVIES talk 13:16, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey Rpyle, thanks for catching my typos, and for this necessary job of stub-sorting! I think, actually, I'm ready to remove the stub-template, though on my talk page I found a speedy deletion notification for that article--that's funny, but the joker didn't place it on the article. Robert N. Hall page

I would like to add information to the Wikipedia page for Robert N. Hall and I saw that you were the most recent editor. Robert N. Hall recently was featured in a series of interviews around the 50th anniversary of the Laser on the blog "Edison's Desk". He is a retiree of GE Global Research (retired in 1987) and Edison's Desk is the GE Global Research blog. I think that adding links to the YouTube videos of Robert N. Hall speaking and looking back on his accomplishments to the laser technology industry would be a useful add to his page.

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:40, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Waldemar de Brito

{{help}}I am trying to add a listas= clause to the WPBio on this subject's talk page. Not sure what the correct sorting would be. There is no DEFAULTSORT on the article, and other similar articles have varying sorts, either by the 'de' part, or by the Brito. Is there any consensus on this? On further reading, I think I have the answer, if I read correctly it would be sorted in the B's. You can leave a comment if you have further information.

Reading that same guideline I come up with "Brito, Waldemar De".--Commander Keane (talk) 05:34, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Yes, thank you. That was the article I was working on, and I went ahead and added the Defaultsort, as well as the listas to the talk page. Rpyle731talk 05:40, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Well I came to the same conclusion as Rpyle731. Perhaps a trip to the talk page is in order? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 05:35, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
I found a 1989 newspaper article (Chicago Sun-Times) refer to his family as just "de Brito".--Commander Keane (talk) 05:42, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Assessment

You have rated many articles without any references or sources as start class articles. Those articles falls into stub category. 'Start' class article should satisfy fundamental content policies such as notability and BLP, and provide enough sources to establish verifiability. --> Gggh talk/contribs 20:15, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry. Thanks for the heads up. Rpyle731talk 20:48, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Hey doesn't assessing an article with AWB kindof defeat the point of assessment. When people assess articles, they get a chance to make minor changes on articles and make sure the article is categorized correctly according to the standard practice for their project. IMHO it is better to have the backlog (which I am aware is about 400,000 articles) than to just arbitrarily assess articles automatically with no indication that the article was assess through an automatic process. Sadads (talk) 08:09, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

My concern is more that you are missing opportunities to clean up articles, including proper formatting and categorization, by pushing through the unnassessed articles with AWB. Generally, I make at least 3 clean up edits or tags for certain quality issues for every 3-4 articles I assess (if not more). The use of the semi-automated editor lessons the time you spend actually interacting with the page, and thus the liklihood of being able to actual make these clean up edits (which help move pages through backlogs and into backlogs so that they get more eyes on them). Sadads (talk) 04:48, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Balingian

Hello Robert. I'm puzzled as to why you added {{coord missing|Malaysia}} to the Balingian article. Do you really want me to duplicate the coordinate data from the infobox into a separate coord statement? — Hebrides (talk) 06:55, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

I saw you rated this article as start class. I agree: it is a bit more than a stub but not a lot. I quite often start "Who's Who" entries like this giving a basic biographical outline of someone who has some level of notability. It seems to me that a subject may often deserve a cursory article that just gives the basic facts. Rating an article as "start" - or as "stub" for that matter - somehow implies that more should be added. Maybe there should be some sort of rating that implies "good enough". The article on a person, book, movie, place, whatever, gives adequate coverage given the relative importance of the subject. Thoughts? Aymatth2 (talk) 01:39, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

listas

FYI... the listas value for David McMullan is: listas=McMullan, David (not Macmullan).

Almost all the articles you did recently from the category "Biography articles without listas parameter" had serious problems from the same creating editor. Wrong birth dates, birthplaces, death dates and almost every Defaultsort... it is a mess. So, I've been trying to go thru them with a fine tooth comb. For new articles like these, I normally go thru them with a closer inspection, but these are in a whole new ballpark. Almost all the articles in the listas category are new articles, so best to keep a more watchful eye on these. Bgwhite (talk) 05:19, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Oh... the Biography banner is always the first banner. Bgwhite (talk) 05:20, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Double oh. NO spaces in listas or defaultsort. Should be: listas=Bowyer, Sam   Not listas= Bowyer, Sam or listas=Bowyer , Sam or listas=Bowyer,Sam
Mediawiki software uses the space (or lack of one) as a sortvalue. Bowyer,Sam will be the first Bowyer listed because the software thinks that is one word. listas=Bowyer , Sam will be the last Bowyer listed because the software uses the space as a letter. Bowyer,Sam problem is rampant in Asian names for some reason. Bgwhite (talk) 05:43, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Sorry about the Mc... listas error. I missed that Wikipedia had changed how those were handled. Thanks for the information. Rpyle731talk 05:55, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Amen to that. The day I finally remember how to do something, the Wikipedia policy gets changed. I don't mind that because instead of my normal stupid, dumb mistakes, I get to blame a mistake on something else. Bgwhite (talk) 06:50, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

I've noticed you have been giving singers or composers a&e-work-group. They should have musician-work-group. Sometimes it is difficult because they maybe in more than one area. If their primary area is music, then go with the musician-work-group. I don't think it was you, but somebody else, that was using a&e instead of filmbio.

I keep seeing you name plastered in article's history, so keep up the good work. Bgwhite (talk) 05:29, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

AWB request

I note that some time ago you did some assessment of California redirect talk pages as redirects, e.g. Talk:Interstate 880 (Sacramento, California). Could you set up AWB to go through my contributions from 17 November 2012 and mark as redirect all the talk pages of redirects that I edited today? This would involve pages such as Talk:Gale Ranch middle school, Talk:Will Rogers Middle School (Lawndale), and Talk:Gonsalves Elementary School, which are currently marked as stubs. Nyttend (talk) 12:34, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

I would be glad to help, but it has been some time since I used AWB, and I was never an expert when I did use it. I'm not sure I would be able to make AWB do what you want it to. I can look into it further, and maybe I could cobble something together. A more proficient editor might be able to help you better. Rpyle731talk 01:42, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
