Spam in Randy Ross[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Randy Ross, by ERcheck (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Randy Ross is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Randy Ross, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it did not nominate Randy Ross itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 22:07, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concerns about conflict of interest/autobiography[edit]

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. — ERcheck (talk) 22:23, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments about Wikipedia policy[edit]

Hello. I've seen your most recent comments on the Randy Ross AFD. Your edits have raised some red flags, some of which I've mentioned on the AFD page, and some on Wikiedior's talk page. Specifically:

  • Your username, "Rossmaui", give the appearance that you are Randy Ross of Maui. This then raised concerns of conflict of interest. You've made a note on the AFD that you are not.
  • Your use of Wikiedior's account to edit is against Wikipedia policy and is grounds for blocking an editor.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

If you need help with editing or have questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask your question here on your talk page and then place {{helpme}} above the question.

I suggest also that you take a look at guidelines on notability and on acceptable sources for articles. — ERcheck (talk) 00:37, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your username[edit]

As you see, your choice of Rossmaui has raised concerns. As you noted on the RR talk page, you are interested in the arts. It might be helpful for you to change your username to something that is not so closely associated with a particular artist, and thus not give the appearance of Conflict of interest. If you actually are the person associated with MACC, you likely have a lot of interesting contributions that you can make to articles on the arts. — ERcheck (talk) 00:41, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is it simply coincidence that Randy Ross has used "Rossmaui" as an e-mail address (found with respect to his 2005 MAC solo exhibition? [1]ERcheck (talk) 00:49, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
