I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. One firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Editing Nevada Museum of Art[edit]

Hi,

If you haven't already, you should read about Wikipedia's guidelines on conflict of interest as it is clearly applicable in this case. Having said that, it certainly does not bar you from editing the article on the Nevada Museum of Art, and I appreciate that you are trying to adhere to Wikipedia policy.

With respect to your latest edits, they read like a press release, and probably needs to be reworded. I will have a go at it.

You may find better advice from Wikipedians who are focused on museum articles. Wikiproject Museums is a group of editors who work on museum related articles. Hi - I am not sure if I am doing this properly (using the : for indenting), but I wanted to find out how I can edit the Nevada Museum of Art page. I didn't intend to hide the fact that I work for the Museum - I am the communications director. I have compiled a list of information that I have sourced from outside references, as I understand to be required, such as newspaper articles and blogs that are NOT written by the Museum and/or myself. Are these suitable?

You also mentioned that my username might not be appropriate - should I create a new account? I don't mean to hide the fact that I work for the Museum I simply want to provide more up to date information and facts for the listing and thus improve it for users. Is there a submission process that I need to send all of the factual information to in order to be selected for publishing? I just want to be sure that the page is complete - like other Museum listings. Do I need to ask other people to submit because I work for the Museum? Hi - I have also noticed that while each of my information additions that were made previously and referenced by our website were taken down citing "Conflict of Interest" - but when I look at other pages (ie: Tate Modern) there are numerous citations that reference their own website. Is this appropriate for the Nevada Museum of Art page or only for much larger institutions such as the Tate Modern? Thanks for your help! Rmart123 (talk) 22:22, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
