Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2016–17 FIS Cross-Country World Cup, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Martin Johansson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Infobox skier

[edit]

Regarding this edit to the infobox, what is a "dicipline" title? Mac Dreamstate (talk) 19:24, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A discipline title is a title a skier can win in the World Cup. If a cross-country skier wins the Sprint Cup or the Distance Cup, it is concidered to be a discipline title and they recieve a small globe. The reason for changing it is to create a clear difference between the overall World Cup and the smaller cups an athlete can win and are very much needed for cross-country skiers. This has existed in the infoboxes for biathletes and alpine skiers for a long time and works fine. Reitimwinkl 09:46, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Good to know. I couldn't see it applying to ski jumpers at first, so that's why I was puzzled. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 16:58, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That is correct. For Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined discipline titles do not have any practical use today. However, it is possible they can have use for it in the future. Reitimwinkl 08:45, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Men's 10 km individual race in Davos (1984/85 Season)

[edit]

According to the FIS website there is no men's individual race that was held in Davos on 18 December 1984 (See). Also, Ove Aunli is given the victory in that particular race in the page. Aunli has only one victory in the World Cup which was the 30 km event that held in Davos on 15 December 1984. So, I think that "ghost" race should be removed from the calendar. There were 10 individual races for men and 11 for women in 1984/85 season according to the reliable sources (FIS website, skisport365.com).

FIS Cross-Country World Cup records and statistics

[edit]

Is creating a new page about it really necessary? I think stats and records should be on the same page like in the other FIS World Cups (alpine ski, ski jumping, nordic combined etc.) All the FIS World Cup pages should be in a similar format in my opinion--Pedeshtrian (talk) 10:41, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The FIS Cross-Country World Cup page was about to become extremely long, and main pages in this category (alpine ski, ski jumping, nordic combined etc.) should in my opinion have more text about history, rules etc. and less lists and statistics. I think alpine ski, ski jumping, nordic combined etc. need a change as well. The most important statistics, like overall victories, individal race wins etc can stay on the main page but the huge amount of very specific records should be listed on a records and statistics page only. I agree that all the FIS World Cup pages should be in a similar format in my opinion, but as mentioned I think all these pages need some renewal work.--Reitimwinkl 11:55, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I see your point but for me there are still some problems. Now, in the Cross-Country World Cup page there is a new section called “record and statistics” which includes the “most World Cup wins” table and a reference to the main “records and statistics” article which still in the draft space. I looked the draft of FIS Cross-Country World Cup records and statistics page and it doesn’t include the most World Cuo wins statistics which briefly given in the World Cup page and has its own World Cup pages for both men and women. I assume, you think that giving that stat in the new “records and statistics” is not necessary because its already mentioned in the main World Cup page and men’s and women’s World Cup winners page wlth more details, but what is the point of the “records and statistics” page if it does NOT include arguably the most important statistic of the World Cup. So, the page shoud cover this statistic at least to the degree that the Cross-Country World Cup page covers. But in this way, the most World Cup wins table in the World Cup page will become meaningless because we would have already redirected the reader to the page that includes the same table without any additional details and we can’t add those details to the “records and statistics” page because those details already given in the “men’s and women’s World Cup winners” articles. So, logically we should drop the World Cup wins statistics from the Cross-Country World Cup page but you said in your answer the most important statistics like “most WC wins” should be given in the main World Cup page.
Secondly, I also fear that the “records and statistics” page may well be rejected due to unsourced materials such as “consecutive victories”, “consecutive podiums”, “most World Cup starts”, “time between the first and last WC victory” etc... because there is no written source available for those subjects. I checked every single race in the World Cup history to create those tables and statistics.
I understand that the Cross-Country World Cup page become very long indeed but the best way is still to give those statistics in the main World Cup page not to create another article. Also, I should apologize for the late reply. I live in a country that Wikipedia is blocked. Often, I can’t be able to do editing in Wikipedia. Best regards.--Pedeshtrian (talk) 10:39, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Cross-country Olympic categories

[edit]

Why are you depleting existing categories for men and women's cross-country Olympic events? It is preferable that you go to WP:CfD and suggest a speedy category rename. Deleting all of these existing categories, instead of just changing the name of the categories, is causing more work than would result from a simple rename. Right now, I need to revert all of these category changes. Please take your preferred category changes to CfD. Liz Read! Talk! 02:07, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there - Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify content, especially about living people. You did not provide a source for your changes to Hai Ngoc Tran, and I couldn't find one myself. GiantSnowman 11:48, 23 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2019 Norwegian Football Cup, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sigurd Grønli (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:10, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Reitimwinkl. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "FIS Cross-Country World Cup records and statistics".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. CptViraj (📧) 08:13, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

1990 in Norwegian football moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, 1990 in Norwegian football, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Need Sources to support content claimed

[edit]

Hi Reitimwinkl, Greetings. Pls note that we need significant coverage of independent, reliable sources to support the content claimed. Official site, sources associated with the subject, press releases, interviews, user generated sites, marketing pieces, data base of the sport records and etc can NOT be used to demonstrate/contribute to the notability requirements. Pls provide at least 3 independent, reliable sources (inline citation - see referencing for info and instruction or use "horizontal format" of Template:Cite Web for web source. Sources from major newspapers are good sources. and sources can be in any languages. Once you have provided what is needed then submit the draft for review. See -WP:PROVEIT. Thank you. A tag has been placed on Category:Hamarkameratene templates requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to [email protected], so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at [email protected].

Thank you!

5. divisjon moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, 5. divisjon, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. New articles generally need at least two (but preferably more) references from reliable sources that are independent of the subject that discuss the subject with significant coverage (trivial mentions do not contribute to notability).(See Rule 42) Information that can't be referenced to reliable sources should be removed from the draft because verifiability is necessary for information added to Wikipedia.
I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of Draft: before the article title) where you can work on the article with minimal disruption from other users while you improve it.
When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready to be published, you can move it back to the article space yourself. However, I recommend that instead of moving it yourself that you follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template that I have added to the page. This submits the article to be reviewed by experienced editors that specialize in helping new editors write their first articles. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 09:53, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, 2016–17 FIS Cross-Country Continental Cup, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. ... discospinster talk 15:19, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Missing relays in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup

[edit]

Hi, first of all thank you for all your contributions to the cross-country World Cup pages. Recently, I've found out a monthly skiing magazine at the website of the Czech Ski Associations. They shared it as a pdf document year by year which gives nearly all cross-country race results throughout the year. I've already added the results of the 1985/86 season but I don't have much time to edit the other seasons quickly. So, I want to share the source with you to be able to update the pages faster.

Best regards.--Pedeshtrian (talk) 19:12, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Ski stadiums in Austria indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read!
