Welcome[edit]

Hello, Rdevelyn, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then get me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that if more than one person is using this account to edit, then unfortunately it will be blocked from editing.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Favonian (talk) 17:44, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

September 2009[edit]

If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article QuSheet, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Favonian (talk) 17:44, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've started a discussion on this using the Talk:QuSheet page. Open to suggestions. Richard Develyn (talk)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from QuSheet. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. There is only one reference, and it's to the product page. You need to find reliable sources. As it is the article doesn't demonstrate notability. And the only author (you) still has a conflict of interest Favonian (talk) 08:25, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I feel that these are things that I cannot avoid. Any new product will have the same problem. Looking at other products / companies on Wikipedia, it's not at all unusual to see just the one external link with no other references apart from references to news items which cannot surely qualify as a reliable source (see, for example Business_Objects_(company), Agata_Report and MicroStrategy_Reporting_Suite. I would also suggest that in all these cases the entry has been written by someone working for the company. I think that's inevitable. Anyway, how would you feel if I added in a link to a download/review site like this one http://www.filebuzz.com/fileinfo/58000/QuSheet.html ? Richard Develyn (talk) 09:44, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's probably true that new products will face such problems, but one possible conclusion drawn from this could be that such products are not (yet) notable enough to merit inclusion in Wikipedia. The idea is that articles are based on reliable, third-party sources who have written about the product. If such cannot be found, then the product is not notable, by definition.
The fact that other articles don't live up to this principle is regrettably correct, but the fact that other stuff exists is not considered a valid argument for accepting an article.
Regarding the proposed external link, it wouldn't "count" as a reliable source. I will not remove it, if you add it, but other editors might, depending on their interpretation of the guidelines regarding external links. Favonian (talk) 12:30, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of User:Rdevelyn/QuSheet[edit]

User:Rdevelyn/QuSheet, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Rdevelyn/QuSheet and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Rdevelyn/QuSheet during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Guoguo12--Talk--  03:03, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on QuSheet, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Smerdis of Tlön - killing the human spirit since 2003! 15:10, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Report generator has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline requirement nor the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (software) supplementary essay. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
