Image:Bruno Maddox in 1996.jpg[edit]

Hi did you take this pic?Genisock2 (talk) 23:16, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I work with Bruno at The Week. The picture was taken by a colleague of ours, Kelly Kingman. I posted it since she doesn't have a Wikipedia account.Radosh (talk) 14:44, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi: It has come to my attention (by way of the author himself nonetheless) that the portrait you uploaded was a prank. At first I thought if I slept on it I would figure out the fun you are making with the photograph of Bruno Maddox but I must admit that I am still at a loss several days later. I am a student of satire (amongst other things) and I would really appreciate it if you could briefly explain (or even just hint at) the humor in the Kelly Kingman photograph of Bruno Maddox. Is it funny because you uploaded the photograph for her or is it an inside-joke (I have become quite familiar with them lately) that I need to research further to figure out. It seems to me that I could still possibly summon a guffaw or two, even at this late date, if I were pointed in the right direction. Thanks in advance, BillDeanCarter (talk) 19:46, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, it wasn't intended as a prank. We thought the entry needed a photo, and that was the only one we could find. Bruno thought it was unflattering (for some reason) and decided that we were making fun of him.Radosh (talk) 20:14, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Julia Allison seems to be similarly temperamental. In my opinion her only redeeming value is her looks, yet for some reason (recorded in her article's recent history) she is hating on a fine photograph, portraying her beautifully in her Wikipedia article, taken at some fashion week, and is in fact continuously having it removed from the article. It could be there is arm sag or a blemish I am blind to; it is hard to say what thoughts one has about one's own publicity, and I will not go into my own experience in the matter (or perhaps I will another time). Hi: Thanks for the photograph. I'm glad this issue has finally been settled. I'm working on an academic paper about how this issue was partly the object of satire in Bruno Maddox's Discover column, "Google Taught Me How to Cut My Own Hair". Said column came about shortly after the article on Bruno Maddox was promoted to featured article and appeared to me to be a reaction by Maddox to my feat of amateur biography. The column was all about experts and kept describing a head of hair that was being amateurishly cut by Maddox; he obviously had read the talk page discussion on the need for a public domain photograph of his face and was attempting at wit. Anyhow, I'm waiting for his second novel to be published. I was joking with my friends the other day about how perhaps Maddox could write a third novel about a girl who tries to write a Wikipedia article within 24 hours? Kind of like My Little Blue Dress, but it's a girl hurriedly writing during the night and it's a Wikipedia article, not a manuscript. Maybe as she writes the Wikipedia article she causes something of an international stir? Makes her life a little bit difficult but continues to write the Wikipedia article? We're all wondering why she's doing it? None of my friends thought it was funny or worthwhile but perhaps in the hands of a professional satirist it could be done. So thanks again and best regards from me, BillDeanCarter (talk) 00:14, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
has Kelly Kingman agreed to the photo being released under the under a free license (specificaly the gfdl and Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike)?Genisock2 (talk) 21:22, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
