Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 04:37, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

November 18th[edit]

I have seen other articles on Wikipedia with no sources at all. Can you tell me what exactly is wrong with my article so I can fix it. This is my first article.

Hello, I thought I might try to help you understand why this article doesn't belong on Wikipedia. Every article on Wikipedia has to follow our General Notability Guidelines. To put it simply, for an article deemed to have notability it must be the subject of significant coverage in reliable sources. There are a few other caveats there, but this is the starting point.
If the New York Times ran a 2 page story and mentioned the Bradlee family once. While that would be a reliable source, it wouldn't be significant coverage. Likewise, if BillyJoe's Blog on families did a 5 page story and extensively covered the Bradlee family, that would be significant coverage, but it wouldn't be a reliable source.
Lastly, based on your username, you have a conflict of interest with this article and are strongly discouraged from editing it. In the unlikely event that the article is kept, you shouldn't edit it. -- Mike 🗩 18:11, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Liz and Darth Mike: While this account is new, the user is not and they have already been given this advice, see User_talk:Qbradlee82 and User_talk:Qbradlee. SmartSE (talk) 18:31, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Then can somebody please edit it then? Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Bradlee family, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on Quinnbradlee requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

Bradlee family moved to draftspace[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Bradlee family. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability, it is promotional and reads like an advertisement and you may have a possible Conflict of Interest. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. microbiologyMarcus (petri dish) 19:10, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I will add more sources. Thank you. Quinnbradlee (talk) 20:23, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Nathan Bradley (colonists)[edit]

Hello Quinnbradlee, I thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Nathan Bradley (colonists), should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nathan Bradley (colonists).

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|MicrobiologyMarcus}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Why did you delete my account? I have done nothing wrong. Quinnbradlee (talk) 18:54, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi there, Quinn Bradlee. I'm just a random editor who noticed what's happening here, and I wanted to drop you a line. I have a lot of admiration for your father and grandfather (and it looks like there are plenty of other interesting and accomplished people in your family as well), but when people write about themselves or their families on Wikipedia it almost always ends badly, because despite best intentions, such efforts always come off as distasteful and promotional. It's just impossible to see one's own self or family with the neutrality Wikipedia strives for. We try to warn people off of such efforts, but too often they nonetheless end up entangled in, and struggling against, the rules, as you have. I suggest you put it behind you and return to your other worthy pursuits. EEng 02:01, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Quinn Bradlee, I also wanted to set things straight from the AfD on Nathan Bradley. It's not that it's a bad article at all. It's a good article in the wrong place. It should be somewhere else, some site that actually aims to publish people's research into their ancestry and history. I wish you the best of luck in finding an appropriate home for the information. Remember, Google is very powerful: ultimately many readers use Google to look for information, and whether that information is hosted by Wikipedia or another site is less important than we in Wikipedia would like to think! Elemimele (talk) 12:25, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not delete my account. I will not write about my family any more even though I know other people do and their pages are kept. Quinnbradlee (talk) 19:40, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No one deleted your account, which is not possible. You're welcome to make an unblock request and an administrator will review it. You've ignored warnings about your editing for more than a decade so it's not accurate to say you've done nothing wrong. Star Mississippi 22:36, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
