Referencing concerns
[edit]I see you have been adding material to articles based on the reference Still Time to Care by Greg Johnson. According to the publisher's website, this book has not yet been published. This leads to a couple of concerns.
- Wikipedia references exist so that the reader can, at least in theory, verify the statement made by going to a reliable source. Indeed, verifiability is one of the central pillars of the Wikipedia effort. But people cannot go and look something up in a yet-to-be-published book. As such, the references are premature.
- The fact that you have access to this forthcoming book suggests that you possibly have some conflict of interest. If you are connected to the work in a way that you may be seen as benefiting from the promotion of the book or the author then you have a conflict of interest. I'm an author of some works and the publisher of many others, and this is a situation that I find myself in frequently, because the subjects that I'm interested in as a Wikipedia editor are similar to those I'm interested in as a writer and publisher. Such a conflict arises not just when you are editing in a promotional way, but when you might be perceived as having a promotional interest in your edits. In the case of adding a book as a reference source, people who could identify you might well think that you were trying promote sales of the book, or to promote the appearance of the author as an expert. We have guidelines on how to deal with a conflict of interest, which involve being open about what that conflict is, and often not doing conflicted edits yourself, but rather going to the article's Talk page and suggesting the edit, while stating why you have a conflict. That way, unconflicted editors can evaluate your suggested edit before it goes into the article.
I also see that you've used the sandbox to formulate what looks like an article. You may want to move that to a draft article instead of the sandbox, as the sandboxes get wiped out pretty quickly. And if you have some sort of conflict of interest regarding the draft article, you should use our Articles For Creation process to have someone evaluate whether the article should be part of Wikipedia (moved from "draft" status to active article status) rather than doing it yourself.
Even if you should have some conflicts of interest, there are of course plenty of articles on which you have no such conflict. Don't let anything I say here discourage you from being a Wikipedia contributor! Millions of articles, and we ain't anywhere near done... --Nat Gertler (talk) 12:54, 15 August 2021 (UTC)

Greg Johnson (author, pastor) moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Greg Johnson (author, pastor), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
