Portia africana

Hi Philca, as you might have noticed I've offered to review this for you. I wanted to dive in do a copy edit, but you've put {{inuse}} on it so I won't for now. If you're not working on it at the moment, can you let me know? Thanks SmartSE (talk) 20:36, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi, one smartse to another. And the word suggests you're a Brit ;-D I've just found another source which makes the hunting scene much more complex, and I'm about to complete the big story in the main text. Then I update "Ecology" and the lead. Then I'll remove {{inuse}} and look forward to you're comments. Many thanks for volunteering. Also I'm grateful that you're a biologist! --Philcha (talk) 21:57, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
Yep, only proper English from me. Not sure if you have come across this which mentions a predator or not. Might be worth a mention somewhere in ecology. SmartSE (talk) 22:26, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
The very source I got while Googling for something else! --Philcha (talk) 02:38, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Congratulations!

Hi Philcha,

Your article Portia schultzi just passed GAN! Keep up the good work on jumping spider articles. Are you hoping to bring them all up to GA? That would be marvelous :) Cheers, Accedietalk to me 10:04, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Many thanks, Accedie. You said you like to work on a wide variety of topics, and I hope you enjoyed this one. Portia africana is not under review, and is fun because this species hunting is quite different from that of other of Portia (spider). Although there are another 13 Portia species, there's no imformation on their behaviour. So I'm working on Portia (spider), which be then of "Project Portia" for now and perhaps 5-10 years. However, I have a little info that encourages me to look another jumping spider. --Philcha (talk) 10:44, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Good Article Barnstar
Thanks Philcha for helping to promote Portia schultzi to Good Article status. Please accept this little sign of appreciation and goodwill from me, because you deserve it. Keep it up, and give some a pat on the back today. --Sp33dyphil ©© 04:49, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Many thanks, Sp33dyphil! Soon I'll finish "Project Portia" with a big upgrade of Portia (spider). Then the project may sleep for a few years, as only 4 species have been reseached in any detail. However, I hope I can get good sources for 2-3 others. --Philcha (talk) 05:14, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Confusion

I don't understand how my edit for the page for the book version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets counts as vandalism, as it all actually happens in the book. CrickleBoy (talk) 20:10, 24 November 2011 (UTC)CrickleBoy

See the GA review, where the review and I made a unstanding about what was in / out. Violations of that would endanger the GA status. --Philcha (talk) 23:20, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

Exact quotation from WP:BOLD

Format of the first sentence

Most commonly, the article's subject is stated as early as possible in the first sentence, and placed in boldface:

The electron is a subatomic particle that carries a negative electric charge.

Only the first occurrence of this word or term is placed in boldface.

If the page title is descriptive it does not need to appear verbatim in the main text, and even if it does it should not be in boldface. So, for example, Electrical characteristics of dynamic loudspeakers begins with:

The chief electrical characteristic of a dynamic loudspeaker's driver is its electrical impedance as a function of frequency.
