Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, PeggyTLBell, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits did not conform to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may have been removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations verified in reliable, reputable print or online sources or in other reliable media. Always provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to The Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Again, welcome!  Schazjmd (talk) 13:27, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Schaz. Sorry, but I'm (obviously) still learning my way around. Can I simply cite the site that this is stated on (http://thebigfor.com/story.html), or is something more 'official' required? PeggyTLBell (talk) 10:55, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That website is apparently owned by the author, so it isn't adequate for the content that you added. To merit a mention in the Agatha Christie and Noor Inayat Khan articles, we need an independent reliable source that considers their mentions in The Big For to be significant. Just because something exists doesn't mean it should be mentioned in a wikipedia article. Hope that helps! Schazjmd (talk) 14:07, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that helps a lot. Many thanks. In retrospect it's clear these policies help focus on the important (which this really isn't), and prevent Wikipedia overflowing with self-promotion and other commercially-oriented stuff that would swamp useful content. All makes sense. PeggyTLBell (talk) 08:23, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
