Footballer infoboxes[edit]

If you update the club stats/goals in a football player's infobox (as you did with Adam Boyd), please could you also update the pcupdate parameter - simply replace the existing timestamp with five tildes (~). Otherwise the "last updated" date will be misleading. I've updated the Adam Boyd page now: it said it was last updated in July but it now shows the correct timestamp. Cheers. --Jameboy 12:56, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The same applies with Tamika Mkandawire. If you need an explanation on how the 'pcupdate' thing works, please let me know. But you really do need to update it if you update club stats in the player infobox. Cheers. --Jameboy 18:13, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Jamie Jones (footballer)[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Jamie Jones (footballer), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. October 2009[edit]

Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia and the articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits, as you did to Ellis Lankster. Readers looking for accurate information will not find them amusing. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you can write practically anything you want. faithless (speak) 18:37, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problems with File:1429175 carl griffiths301.jpg[edit]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, File:1429175 carl griffiths301.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/mid/halloffame/sport/carl_griffiths.shtml. As a copyright violation, File:1429175 carl griffiths301.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. File:1429175 carl griffiths301.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 19:33, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

November 2009[edit]

Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons, as you did to Russell Brand. Thank you. Rodhullandemu 14:26, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Raphael Sylvester has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Footballer who has not played at a fully professional level; clearly doesn't meet WP:ATHLETE and WP:N guidelines.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Stats in football players' infoboxes[edit]

Hi, as already written by other editors above, when you update the stats in football players' infoboxes please remember that you should also update the |pcupdate= (or |club-update=) parameter. This shows when the stats were last updated and prevents editors from accidentally updating the stats again. Thank you. --Jaellee (talk) 22:11, 24 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox timestamps[edit]

Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions were not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.

You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats. For articles that use a DMY date format, use five tildes (~~~~~), or for MDY dates, use {{subst:mdytime}}. This will generate the specific time the update was made.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, Mattythewhite (talk) 00:06, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please keep this in mind. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:22, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stats[edit]

When updating footballers' stats, please remember to also update the "stats correct as at" timestamp (the "club_update" parameter). This edit left the article saying that Nouble had played nine league games for Torquay as at 4 April, which isn't true.... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:39, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Asking again, can you please please please also update the timestamp when you update a player's stats. Edits like this are not right and end up having to be fixed by other editors...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:23, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox stats[edit]

Please note that we only include domestic league games in the infobox - so no Cup or Continental matches etc. Please also ensure that when you update the stats you also update the date, using ~~~~~. If you have any questions please ask. GiantSnowman 21:33, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stats (yet again)[edit]

I can see that you have been asked many many times already to also update the timestamp when you update players' stats, and yet you are still making edits like this one, which left the article saying that Graham had played five games for Orient as at 16 August, which clearly isn't correct as Orient hadn't even played five games this season as at that date. Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try and remember to also update the date? Given how many times you have been asked and not taken note, you may be at risk of a block in future if this sort of editing continues....... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 06:55, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
