You're new to Wikipedia, so I'll try and explain some basics as per your edits to Darth Revan. Generally on Wikipedia, it is common practice to propose sweeping changes to an article on its Talk page before actually going ahead and changing the article, especially when dealing with a topic that has been disputed and discussed previously. If the explanation is short enough, you could consider foregoing a discussion on the talk page, and just include the explanation on your edit summary. But, in this case, it would be best to discuss something like the canon sex of the character on its talk page, which I have already started here. Please refer to that before you change the article.
