Assignment 2

[edit]

You still have a bunch of sections you haven't populated with any facts (ecology, disease, uses), so its difficult for me to tell where you're going with those. Obviously the diseases part is quite important, so I'd like you to show me what you're intending to put there. The lovastatin is important so maybe you should change your ==Uses== section to ==Industrial uses==. Make sure not to begin sentences with the abbreviated genus name, i.e. always spell out Aspergillus at the start of a sentence. Medmyco (talk) 16:15, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Looks like you have started on your preliminary research, but I think you should start including more detailed information on your sections. As the prof already mentioned, you should probably populate more relevant and useful sections, and research materials pertaining to those sections. At the end you have made a few sections, but they have no information under them, so the reader does not know where you are going with those sections. Your fungi might have a lot to do with industrial uses and agricultural effects, because it is similar to my fungi, which is also a soil fungi. Do pubmed searches, there is a lot on your fungi, as I came across it, while I was doing research on my fungi. Hope that helps, and I shall send you links of papers, if I come across them again. Best of luck :)Ria99 (talk) 00:59, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, here are few of my suggestions:
1) your genome section seems very interesting, I think you could expand the section a little bit further. For example, It is a little bit general by just writing "to better understand the mechanism in which the fungus infects humans and animals"; you could provide specific examples of mechanism that have been found.
2) it seems like you are still working your pathogenicity section. I recommend the book Atlas of clinical fungi by De Hoog (the one I'm also using now), which provides a brief description for the symptoms caused by a fungus.
Your introduction section is very informative; It provides a general idea of ecology, pathogenicity, and industrial use of Aspergillus terreus. Nice job! Look forward to your final draft!

For the (late) peer review, As some of the guys said, I think you need to write point form or just brief summary on each section, so people can see where you are going with sections that you didn't provide any summaries. I like your headings, very detailed. I like your informative introduction section. Maybe you could explain the mode of infection? (how your fungus infect humans or animals) Also you can add some fungi that are related to your fungus if there's any. Good luck! Kchung325 (talk) 20:35, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
