Regarding Lewis Stein

[edit]

Hi, Osiris, I am a Wikipedia editor and I just had a look at your [now very old] Articles-for-Creation submission on Lewis Stein. Why it has not been reviewed so far I do not know, and I am not an article reviewer, but I noticed some things about the article that might be getting it hung up. Am hoping you will be willing to have a look at these:

1.) Several of your inline references are missing certain values: if you look at the references section at the bottom, you will see that a bunch of them have text in red. That red text means that the reference contains some kind of error, usually either an incorrect value of some kind (like an "author=3387-1" or something) or the parameter is misspelled or is not used in the template (like "dat=4 April 2015" instead of "date="), or the value is missing in a critical parameter (if there is no entry for "title=", for example). You will greatly increase the chances of having a reviewer come along and review your article positively (rather than review it and decline it) if you are able to fix these errors so that the References section has no parts showing up in red anywhere, yes?

2.) For your first sentence you provide three references twice as supporting evidence of the subject's date of birth and place of education. Usually, all references belong at the end of the paragraph containing statements they are supporting, not in the middle (unless necessary), and if even one of these sources gives both his date of birth and place of education, then you only need to mention that single source, not all three. Ideally, that opening paragraph should have a single source at the very end of it rather than three references given twice and at two different places within the paragraph.

3.) Lastly, at the end of the article, you give a whole stream of citations that appear to be supporting the claim that the subject has been in a lot of museums. This is actually counterproductive. What you want to do is make sure that each claim you make in the article is supported by at least one appropriate citation, and that if you are not making any kind of claim, then no citation is necessary. There is no point in adding a series of references that do not tie to any claim being made within the text of the article. You could either consider removing most of these references, or find ways of incorporating them into the article's text by adding statements that they specifically support (without using multiple references to support the same basic claim, only the most reliable, independent, published source; if you are making two claims in the same paragraph, then two citations are usually acceptable).

Wshew! Having said all that, it looks to me like the subject is indeed notable. Reviewers can see this too. What is making them pause, though, is this: they know that if they review the article, they will have to publish it by moving it into article space (yay!), but they don't want to be responsible for all the cleanup the article still appears to need (boo!) or for fixing the problems with your citations (argh!). So the good news is that I think Lewis is notable, and I think that all that needs to be done is fix the things above so that a reviewer can feel completely comfortable publishing it! Good luck, and if you have any questions, please let me know by editing this page and typing those questions below my text here-- I have placed your talk page on my watch list, and i will be notified if you make any changes to it, yes? Again, good luck! This article is so close! A million reasons (talk) 01:38, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
