The Black Parade article

Great job again! Your truly have a passion for it all. It's pretty good so far. The section on the band's influence is pretty good but it doesn't really explain why it's a "post-hardcore" or "alternative rock" album yet. Try to find definitions for those styles from either allmusic, or even better by using a book to cite it so it's comparable to My Chemical Romance. Another good example is with my little knowledge of the band is how this album differs from previous albums (i'm pretty sure it does!). Some more reviews could be added to the Infobox, make sure not to go over ten and make it presentable and us italics when needed. For example, you refer to the Entertainment Weekly review in the reception, but don't have it in the infobox. Someone might jump you on that one. Another thing as an option would be explaing music's themes and what not. This would be a good section to combine with another section which could be useful about the album's "story" as it's a concept album apparently.

That's...all I can think of for now. Great job all around. Even if you can't get all those, I'd attempt giving this a peer review and a GA or if you are feeling jumpy just add some more then hop the GA wagon. Take a look at some of the other GA album articles for alternative rock bands to get some ideas of what would be good to add as well! Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:56, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

It seems ok though there are a few points. Only the earliest release date should be mentioned (Wikipedia:ALBUM#Released) and the use of flagicons in that way is discouraged. A few more professional reviews might help. The lead should probably contain more about why the album is notable, chart positions etc. I hate the phrase "The album spawned four singles", it didnt give birth to them. I prefer "Four singles were released from the album". The phrase "The Black Parade has, overall, been a critical success" contradicts the info in the 'Reception' section which suggests there were some negative reviews, this would fail WP:NPOV. The inclusion of Concept albums in the see also section is suspect as the article doesn't mention it and i'm not sure it can be considered a concept album in the purest sense. That's all i got for now. --neon white talk 01:36, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Adoption

Hi Orfen,

I'm reasonably computer literate, but I don't know where to start with all this.

I'm trying to create a Wiki listing for Sally Garozzo, a UK singer-songwriter who is shortly due to release her second album and will be touring the north west to promote it.

I'd like to learn how to contribute to Wikipedia anyway, but I wanted to check in the first instance whether Sally would be considered note-worthy enough to create a listing for. I'd hate to put a lot of time and effort in now only for a listing to be removed, when I could have picked it up over time.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I'll even know how to check to see if you've written back, so my email address is [email protected] just in case.

Looking forward to talking to you.

The Black Parade Genre

In response to your message on my talk page: The reason I referred you back to my talk page is that I feel there are better ways to discuss this than through edit wars. The IGN quote you mentioned does make a specific case against the "emo" classification for this specific album, even if it doesn't insist upon it. As long as there are reliable sources, and something is open to interpretation, you can't just go around stating it as fact. Encyclopedias are based on stating the facts, not the opinions. "Emo" is an opinion, and if there are conflicting sources then you can't pick sides. No one is suggesting that Wikipedia insist that it is not emo, but until there is some sort of infallible proof that the album is unarguably emo, we can't go around stating what only SOME of the critics interpret. What I don't understand is why you think staying neutral is in itself some kind of bias. How can the album meet criteria for the "emo" genre if those criteria don't exist? There's no specific way to verify arbitrary claims. If something can't be proven, you don't state it to be true on an encyclopedia. Reviews and consensus don't count as proof of something, especially if other reviews and consensus point otherwise. About your new sources: neither actually reviews the album, they both just cite a review from allmusic that you already cited. Plus, neither of them list "emo" as the genre, just one of several styles. Even if you are going to go against the very purpose of having an Encyclopedia, you still would have to come up with ONE reliable source stating that this album genre IS emo, which you still have not. Coming to conclusions like that because-- "I don't see why the [as of yet ungiven] sources don't point to emo" --violates WP:OR.--Friginator 03:32, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Good idea about getting an outside opinion. The argument was getting repetetive. I've just posted the whole discussion on the Reliable Sources noticeboard. --Friginator 06:09, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

"Vampires Will Never Hurt You"

I found a picture of the "Vampires Will Never Hurt You" single, but Friginator still insists that the evidence is inadequate. I think your input would be appreciated. – Zntrip 23:52, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Ray Toro

As per WP:MUSIC#Criteria for musicians and ensembles

Note that members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases. Members of two notable bands are generally notable enough for their own article.

He has not demonstrated any notability outside of MCR and thus the article should redirect to the band. Cheers Nouse4aname (talk) 10:34, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Non-article My Chemical Romance pages, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Non-article My Chemical Romance pages has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Non-article My Chemical Romance pages, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Adoptee Request

Hi Orfen,

I noticed on Adoptee Resources that you are open to helping out new Wiki users. I've been working on a couple of articles that I think are close to being ready to publish. Before I go any further, I'd really appreciate an experienced user's point of view.

I searched Wiki and noticed that other companies had a page for the company and separate ones for their products, so I did the same. The two articles are:

  • PAC International - company
  • RSIC-1 - product

In developing these articles, I tried to make sure the content had a NPOV as well as citations for notability from various sources.

Any comments/suggestions you have about the content, wiki formatting, etc., would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Eyoreboy (talk) 19:31, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Message from the My Chemical Romance task force

Hello!

You may be interested to know that the WikiProject My Chemical Romance has recently been transformed into a task force of WikiProject Emo. Please visit the task force page to see what's new. This move allies the task force with a larger WikiProject that handles much of the administrative overload, thus allowing task force members to focus on the most important activity: article improvement.

The project's membership list has also been moved to the new task force page. If you see that your username is in the "Inactive/former members" section, please do not take offense; this is because you no longer appear to be active on Wikipedia. We may also take the liberty of removing the member userbox from your userpage if it appears there, to prevent you from automatically appearing in Category:My Chemical Romance task force members. Of course you are free to rejoin the task force and re-add the userbox at any time if you would like to become active again.

For active editors, it is our hope that this change will help spur you to improve articles related to My Chemical Romance. You may have noticed that the old My Chemical Romance project userbox on your user page has automatically changed to the new task force userbox. We may take the liberty of fixing the template link on your userpage, to avoid redirects.

Thank you and we hope you will continue to support the My Chemical Romance task force!
